A staple of the Buffalo area! Spent many, many mornings here when I attended UB. Great, unique breakfast menu.

Far and away the best breakfast of anywhere you can get in WNY. Get there early because it's packed all the time. Probably a testament to how good the food is.

The food is fantastic and the prices are right. The atmosphere is just right for what it is, a nice little greasy-spoon...yum!

I had the western sandwitch and it was argueably the best breakfast sandwitch I have had. They were also making lentil soup for lunch and it smelled great. Nothing beats scratch cooking. Will definately go back next time that I am in towm.

The perfect greasy spoon. The prices are cheap and the classic breakfast is always a winner. The service is fast. Cool college atmosphere and piping hot coffee.

We went there for breakfast on a Sunday and ordered a Breakfast Burrito and a short stack of Blueberry pancakes. The burrito, served with homefries, was great. But the pancakes were definitely the best pancakse that I have ever had in my life - warm and fluffy and really tasty. In fact, I did not use any syrup on them so as to not change the taste even a little bit. It is just sad that I was there on vacation, and hence, don't know when I will be able to visit again. The coffee was nice too.

We have frequented Amy's Place for about the last Twelve years. They have great Vegetarian choices which are few in Buffalo. We started going here with my Vegetarian daughter and my husband and I have grown to love the food ourselves, graduating to the Lentil-Berry wrap. There is definitely a variety of choices. The staff is friendly, and very accomodating to personal taste requests. This is not a dinner type menu although we do eat dinner there, it is mainly sandwiches and wraps. They have great breakfasts too with made to order choices. Pretty reasonable to average prices.
Being near UB there are alot of college students, but there is still a mix of ages. They are always busy, but are quick to serve, so usually the wait goes fast.

Pros: Great Food and Service, Friendly

Cons: Size of seating space. Parking is sometimes tough on main, but usually not bad on side streets

I fell in love with this place in high school, and would recommend it to anyone who wants a sense of what makes Buffalo a special place. This place has great, imaginative grub, a fun atmosphere, and an arts and music culture-of-the-moment that truly whets the appetite.

"Veggie wet shoes" (I think that's the name) is the guilty pleasure I recommend most, although pecan and banana buck wheat pancakes will satisfy morning noon and night.

I haven't experienced it as dirty...hope it's not gone down hill since my last visit, about 1 year ago...

I agree with other reviewers that Amy's has a college feel, and cheap good tasting food. However, the cleanliness of this place is woefully inadequate. I have never seen more garbage on the floor of a restaurant, and I have frequented dives for over 25 years. Even the poorest of college students should not have to eat under those conditions.

There are very few places that I would go after a night on the town for a late night breakfast. Amy's is one of those places. I've done that so many times, I can't recall.

Their omelets are great and I love their home fries.

This joint is the best restaurant in the college town area. Ambience is some kind of counterculture breakfast diner. Students, Professors, Professionals, punks and preps all eating together and enjoying the tasty fare. Every special is better than the next. I love the art on the walls that changes nearly weekly and vast range of music that play while the flat bread turns. Mid eastern dishes are crazy good as well.

I absolutely love Amy's Place. It's cheap and everything is made to order.

Don't let the greasy-spoon diner look turn you away, amy's food is great and the atmosphere is what Buffalo is all about.

The crew's creations on the last page are all fabulous. Breakfast is awesome and 99cents if you get there before 9am. The people who work at amys have been there for forever and it's a very homey atmosphere. Also the lentilberry sandwich/wrap is great. Lots of middle eastern/lebanese fare, but american stuff as well. The sweet tea is not to be missed! (2 bucks for a huge pitcher to yourself! :) )

I have been coming here for years and it's always great. Definitely a must try... you'll be hooked like me!

I absolutely love this place. Amy's place is located on Main St. on the edge of University at Buffalo (South Campus). The staff is extremely friendly. It has the old diner feel to it. The place boasts of a wide selection of food and extremely cheap prices (VERY student friendly). Get the bottomless coffee or the never-ending homemade Iced Tea. You will not be disappointed. For food, get the Florentine burger or the eggs, home fries and toast. They have the best home fries in Buffalo. If you can wake up for the breakfast specials (6am - 9am), $1.99 buys you 2eggs, home fries and toast! Parking is difficult and be prepared to come out smelling like food!

PROS: Prices, Food
CONS: Location, Parking

They have great food, and low prices, and they have lots of stuff on the menu, so it even passes for my picky eating freinds.

Amy's place has some of the best food in town. If you're a 'Veggie' you'll love the variety! But everyone finds food they love here, not just as someone else put it, Traditional American fare (not on your life).
You've got to try:
Lentil Berry, Bruce's Bowl, falafels, Steak Cabobs, Pitaco Salad, the list goes on.....
GO EAT!!

I used to live in Buffalo as a UB student. Amy's Place was one of those no brainer good places to eat at a low price. On a recent trip back to Amy's I was reminded what a cool place it is. The food as always was great. It was worth the 1400 mile trip from Florida! I had the Hummis and it was so good. And the iced tea they have there is the best I've had. If you are in the Buffalo area, Amy's is a place you MUST check out!
