It has all limited cardio equipment but most of the cardio fans who are females are barely in attendance so its relatively easy to get access to a t-mill ellipitical or stair master. As for weight training it has all of the machines

Church Avenue Fitness is crap. Smh at the crappy security there. I hope the gym goes out of buisness. I am also disappointed at the gym goers who did not even try to stop the attack saturday. I mean couldnt the security do something to stop the attack? I guess the roach that you have at the door really was doing his job because he scattered when he sensed trouble. When will you guys realize that changes have to be made? You are responsible for the lives that enter your gym everyday. It is ridiculous at how that gym is operated. Other gyms have better security and enough machines that people wouldnt have to fight over them. Step your game up because your way behind the pack. I really hope this opens eyes and that you do something asap!

It sucks because every gym u go to u have to swipe in and this stupid gyn have a magit at the door letting people pass in without identity. Where is your common sense to ask! Do u have a membership card, if no and they come to meet a friend, it is your responsibility to call the friend out of the gym to meet his or her friend outside, and not to have them intruding in your gym , then making their act in your gym. Now what your gym is no longer safe and i hope that people get this one and not to attend your gym until safety is straighten up in there. That guy did not deserve that at all. And i blame the gym procedure for his death that someone con call back up from outside and they can unter free, free, free. u all are crazy. Oh i know that u would say that they could wait for him outside, but he stand a more chance of defending himself AND CETTING HELP FROM SOMEONE OUTSIDE. when no one in the gym did anything. What about the magit at the door, why could'nt he lock them in while someone call the cops. Now question yourself. Stupid. His death is in you all that was there hands.

Sharon F. left negative feedback about the gym because he/she is a lazy ass person that can't keep up with working out. the CAF is a great place to be.

I read the previous post. I completely disagree. When I started working out I was a slob. In a few months I had transformed myself. Sometimes there are waits for certain machines but I either asked to jump in with them or worked out on another and came back later. The gym is a decent size. The staff that works there work at the FRONT desk. If you want to learn how to work out you should HIRE a trainer. One of the few things that I dont like is the hours. I think it closes too early on the weekends! That sucks! Bottom line : in this tough economy...$200 yr is a no brainer.

Okay, this is your typical neighborhood gym. They have a decent selection of equipment that usually you have to wait for a long time to use. When it is available, you have a limited amount of time on them, unlike the "bulked up lifers" who seem to stay on as long as they want regardless of people obviously waiting to use said equipment.

The gym is completely on one level in the basement and space is limited (always wondered why they never opened the upper floors but then that would make sense wouldn't it)
There are NO classes to speak of. Trainers are there to guide you at the beginning (on your first visit for about 10 minutes), but then you're on your own. You can of course purchase the services of trainers, but it will run you about $30 a session/hr... So if you plan on using this "prestigious gym" and follow some sort of regimen, better start ripping out all those "fitness" plans from health magazines to use as your guide because you'll find no help from the workers unless you pay them extra for it. If you don't know how to use a machine, ask the person next to you, because they'll help you faster than the people that work there. So why are there people that still drudge to this gym? More importantly why is it still open? Because it's CHEAP and within a 2 block radius of the subway (easy access straight from work) and bus. A year's membership will now run you about $200 or $250. I gave up on them about 6 months after I joined (It was $150 for a year then).

The cheap price doesn't outweigh the fact that the place is small, the machines are never available and the staff has a haphazard definition of the term "customer service." If you really need to use the gym, cough up the extra dinero for Bally's or Lucille Roberts. Don't settle for this travesty of a gym. It's a slap in the face to anyone that needs a cheap alternative to more expensive fitness clubs.

PROS: none
CONS: too many see above
