Just had dinner with a large party of family and friends at Vivolo. The food was great as always, and the service was top-notch. Whether you're a party of 2 or 20 they treat you like family at Vivolo. The upstairs area is very comfortable and the staff doesn't rush you though your meal. Been coming to Vivolo for years and never had a bad meal or experience here.

Pros: Great Food, Service and Atmosphere

This stylish Italian place is a romantic spot with great Italian food. I used to frequent the place when I lived on the Upper East Side. I haven;t been there in a while, but I'm sure the food is still good..it's been around for a long time.

We dine here whenever we come to the city from los angeles, which is not as often as we would like. we ate here twice in early december and the food was very very good and the service sharp. this is a true neighborhood restaurant and even if you visit few times, you feel like a regular. the front of the house will greet you by name, you may choose your table and even the bartender will say hello. the up martinis and wines by the glasses are very generous. if you come early enough they have specials that offer a WIDE variety of choices for complete meals and even their famous baked clams are a choice for an appetizer. they are the best in the city-toasted just right, never soggy. the veal chop is excellent and priced just right. all the items are prepared fresh and never rushed to the table, there is never a feeling of being hurried to turnover the table. the waitstaff is patient and non-obtrusive. we always eat downstairs with the wooden floor, dark paneling on the walls, and fireplace ,and yes, the tables are small, but that is part of intimate charm. it can, however, get warm downstairs but staff will always adjust the thermostat when asked. vivolos does have an upstairs room with more space between the tables, carpeting and a lighter tone, but the downstairs has the clubby feeling. while we have dined at many nyc italian restaurants; downtown, midtown, uptown and westside, this is a perfect nyc establishment where you can be a visitor and still feel welcomed from the moment you walked in.

Went here twice and both times were a success. Be warned: the prices aren't cheap and even for Italian it's pretty up there in price. For more for your $ go to Little Italy. That being said, the place is very "old-money" nice. The food was delicous. I've had the veal, new zealand mussels are excellent, pastas are good. The portions are average (if you're used to the huge portions that most Americans eat then it'll probably be a little small for you). Service is excellent.

THis restaurant consistently serves delicious authentic Italian. The maitre 'd and wait staff are so gracious and accommodating. Delicious food- baked clams, excellent chopped salad and amazing homemade pasta sauces. Veal chop is the best. It is a neighborhood staple for good reason!

Tables were so small that your knees knocked with your dining companions. Very boring, bland menu. My Dad's martini was barely bigger than a shot glass, completely FILLED with ice!!!! Total rip-off! Pasta dishes were bland and tasteless and the chocolate cake we ordered was served in a PAPER THIN slice that was a joke! It was lying flat on the plate, because it was too thin to even stand up! For some ridiculous price no less! Again--a rip-off!!!!! They have got to be kidding!

Hands down my favorite restaurant in the city. It's very chic and charming (fireplace, dark-paneled wood, candles everywhere), the maitre-d always greets me by name, and the food is DELICIOUS. I'm obsessed with the lobster pasta, endive salad, mussels, baked clams, steak (I could go on and on), and the wine is really good at a not too expensive price. This is the kind of place that looks like it will cost several hundred dollars to eat at, but the food is amazingly affordable for the quality (plus, I always spot random celebrities when I'm here!) I will be returning here for years to come.

I went here for the first time recently for a party, and let me just say that it isn't so great. I wouldn't say the word "bad," but I will definitely steer clear from the word "great." To put it bluntly, this is a little tucked-away restaurant that is big on ambience/decor, but small on taste and an innovative menu. The salads, appetizers, and ravioli were all just bland (like I said, nothing great), but the worst came with the entirely mediocre entree (lamb), and dessert was no better. Don't even get me started on the wine or climate controls!

Went there for dinner last night... place was pretty empty, but the food was unbelievable. Distinct flavors, with exeptional taste. Cozy atmosphere, and the staff make you feel right at home. Smart business people too.. last night, it was pretty empty and they offered us after dinner drinks on the house and brought me a cannoli after I told them I couldn't eat it, but that it was my favorite.... Good stuff, I'm glad someone took me there, because I will definitely be going back for seconds.

This cozy restaurant has excellent food and a beautiful decor. I recommend the mozzarella caprese to start, but everything is good.

This is a phenominal date place. You have to go upstairs and sit by the fireplace. The service was great and the food is very good. They let you order off the menu. Only drawback: I am 29 and was the youngest person in there by 20 years. Very classy place - I was very impressed

Does decent Italian always have to be in a rustic, no-frills environment? Not at this elegant Upper East Side eatery, set in a townhouse. A friendly and attentive waitstaff does more cosseting than you'd expect at such reasonable prices.…
