I first took my son to Dr. Borchman in 1999. He came to the hospital and spoke with us. I found him to be very knowledgable, up front, and kind. More importantly, I grew to trust his judgment. When he no longer took my insurance, I had to take my son to another doctor on the island, but she misdiagnosed my son not once, but twice. She told me he has excema and prescribed a lotion to treat it when in fact my son has ringworm and the lotion she prescribed exacerbated the ringworm. The second time she told me my son had asthma but after 3 specialists it was clear my son did not and has to this day never suffered from asthma.

I decided to go back to Dr. B and to pay out of pocket for my son but also for my newborn twins. That was the best medical decision I made despite the cost (Dr. B graciously gave me a discount). It was still expensive but worth it. When other doctors told me I could not breastfeed twins, he encouraged me and told me that not only could I do it, but that it was the best thing for them.

I first met Dr. Stephen Borchman in the hospital right after my son was born. I had spoken to his staff on the telephone while I was pregnant, and I had chosen him as our pediatrician based on recommendations from many people.

His staff has always been pleasant and helpful, and his nurse and office manager is his wife. The day after my son and I were released from the hospital, the nurse called twice to check on us, and then Dr. Borchman called since it did not sound to him that my son was thriving based on what I was telling them. We were given the first appointment the next morning and thanks to Dr. Borchman we got the baby to eventually take a bottle and begin to gain weight.

From the beginning, I found Dr. Borchman to be pleasant and helpful in answering all of our questions, yet direct in his approach. If he feels there is a problem requiring a specialist, he does refer us, and when he feels that a "wait and see" treatment is best, that is what he recommends.

Only once in all our time going to Dr. Borchman did we have an extended wait in the waiting room and that was when he was dealing with an emergency. Appointment are never double-booked and this is one doctor we need to be on time for since they call you to go into the exam room almost immediately after you arrive.

PROS:
CONS: None.
