I actually found this salon from CitySearch. I LOVE IT! Noelle has been doing my hair for over a year now. She knows how to make my naturally wavy hair look FABULOUS. She puts her heart into each cut and does her job with love. Noelle always gives me product suggestions that fit my budget and are appropriate for my needs. The salon is not pretentious, stuffy or too casual- a perfect combo of professionalism, consitency, class and comfort. I've really found a great spot!

From the office to social settings, never before have I had so many men compliment my hair. Christopher's color is wonderful and he takes the time to listen to what you want. He spent 7 hours removing dark color from my hair and welcomed me back the next day when I wasn't fully satisfied the first time around. This salon is NOT a factory like some other NYC salons, these people remember your name and work with you to achieve a hairstyle that fits with your personality. If you're not happy, they will keep working with you until you are.

I've been following these guys for the last 8 years for my cut and color. Besides it being a really nice nice overall experience, they give the type of color and cut that makes people ask me on the street, "who does your hair".

After reading about Paul Cucinello online, I was curious to find out if New York Magazine was right. I finally found the best colorist of New York! The second Paul touched my hair I knew it was going to be perfect. He describing things technically... and then translated it right back into plain english for me. He was charming and funny and put my nerves at ease immediately. I felt confidant that this was going to be my first sucess story and it IS. The staff was so warm and friendly and his assistant Maria blew out my limp, lifeless hair into a cascade of gorgeous, shiny locks. I've never looked better and my hair has never FELT better. It was PERFECT. My only complaint is that it took a while to get an appointment...but hey, I guess that's why they call him the BEST!

When I told Christopher what I had in mind for hair color for my brown hair, he suggested highlights with a golden glaze. The outcome was beautiful. Instead of my usual auburn/cooper color, my hair is now more of a chestnut brown with golden highlights, which is exactly what I wanted. I have received so many compliments saying how natural it looks. I couldn't be happier.

As well as getting my hair colored by Christopher, I get my hair cut by Noelle. She always does a great job and cuts my hair the way I want it...nothing more, nothing less.

Finally, I have found a colorist (Paul) who is an expert on working with brunettes! I never have to worry about my color coming out red, Paul knows exactly what shade of brown and highlights to use. I have never been happier with the color!

I knew exactly what I wanted when I walked into Christopher Stanley Salon, and I got it. The unassuming, friendly staff helped me through the normally nervewracking process of getting settled, and soon enough I was plunked in a chair with my new favorite stylist and coiffeur extraordinaire, Henry. I told him about my lifestyle, hair treatment, and care preferences, and also gave him a solid idea of what I wanted. He executed the cut with panache, and made my hair incredibly stylish and cutting edge without being obvious, and kept my hair long and layered, just the way I like it, without adding any of the typical haircut twists and surprises. I will always return to Henry and Christopher Stanly, as it was an entirely un-snobbish, fulfilling, and stylish experience.

Christopher Stanley salon has become my favorite salon since I started going in September, 2003. I think I have found a salon for life. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The space has a very cool and open atmosphere. Henry, my hair stylist does an amazing job and always takes such care and time when he cuts my hair - which always turns out better than I hoped for. I get compliments all the time.

When I left the salon last time and took a cab home, the driver kept staring at me in the rearview mirror. When he let me out, he turned around and said, "Your hair looks fabulous!"

No kidding - Noel knows how to cut and Paul could not do better with the color. Everyone who works there is super nice too - not snotty and weird like most great salons.

Christopher Stanley Salon is an island of chic style in the middle of Chelsea. The salon itself is bright and airy with complementary artwork that leaves you in very relaxed state. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly without being overly solicitous. The coloring and styling talent is unsurpassed. I came in with a very messy head of highlights and left, as my co-workers said, "looking like a movie star". Christopher Gamper, A COLOR GOD, transformed my disaster into a mane of hair that gets complimented regularly. I will never go to anyone else for color unless Christopher sends me there - he is a true genius! You won't be disappointed at this salon and you will really enjoy your hair experience!

There is nobody better than Henry for a hair cut. He always seems to know exactly what to do and I walk out of the salon feeling like a new women. I couldnt imagine having anyone else cut my hair. Unable to get into my usual salon (upscale uptown salon), I called here in a panic the day before I needed an appointment. They fit me in straight away and were so pleasant on the phone. Not only was my colorist wonderful in understanding and doing what I asked, she was so unpretentious and pleasant (sadly this can be at times a rarity in nyc salons). Mauricio did a fabulous blow out - I have longer curly hair and after he was finished it was the straightest it's ever been. I felt like I had the Japanese straightening process done - it lasted for days!! The most remarkable thing about my first visit aside from the flawless execution of excellent hair artistry, was that every single person in the salon with whom I interacted called me by name! What a civilized touch! I am now a regular here!

What a wonderful place to relax and be pampered. Not only did my haircut look fabulous, but I left the salon feeling replenished. My hair had a renewed bounce, as well as my soul. Chatting with Stanley as he worked, seemed to calm me in the midst of a busy workday. It's also nice that people remember you after only being there two times prior to this. For me, going to this salon felt like a mini vacation. I got to forget the hussle and stress of NY. Kudos to all.

As a woman who pride herself on the way she looks I was overjoyed at my haircut from Stanley. Before he started he asked me about my life-style and then proceeded to create magic with his scissors. Not only did my cut turn out magnificent, I was able to care for it myself at home. His upbeat and self-deprecated attitude was a breath of fresh air. I went to the Christopher Stanley Salon this past Friday and all I have to say is WOW. Natasha my colorist was able to achieve the color I wanted that no other salon in the past has ever done. I will never go anywhere else to get my hair colored.

It was my first time at Christopher Stanley this past week and it will not be my last. I had forgotten the pics of the haircut and color I wanted yet Julie was able to understand exactly what I wanted and gave me an amazing haircut that I can actually style myself at home. And Christopher gave me amazing blonde highlights that I absolutely love! Mauricio shampooed and blewout my hair and it looked wonderful and lasted for TWO DAYS! I am definitely going to be a regular here :)

How exciting to be there from Stanley's apprenticeship at Gray's to his owning his own salon! Once we started together, he spoiled me for anyone or anywhere else. He takes the time to discuss pros and cons with me and to explain why certain cuts may work better than others (sometimes based on his knowledge of my hair ability - or lack thereof)! My hair and I enjoy our encounters with Stanley each and every time. I always walk out of his chair feeling transformed. Stanley knows his stuff!

I have been seeing Stanley & Christopher since they were at another salon 5 years ago. They are the best at what they do and their salon is open, friendly and relaxing. They take time and care with every customer, truly consulting to give each person his or her own best look possible. All of the staff are friendly, you don't have to book months in advance, and my appointments have always started right on time. What more could you ask for in a salon experience?

I've been going to Stanley for almost a year now, and he's done wonders for my hair, both color and cut-wise. He really knows how to work with my fine, straight as a stick hair to give it body and style- for the first time in my life I can wash and go - hair dryer for special occasions only! (this in itself is life-changing)
His cuts & color jobs grow out beautifully - I can go 2-3 months- which makes them fantastic value for money.

One word on atmosphere- I have always had a relaxing, almost therapeutic experience at CS. I usually go after work tired and grumpy and leave feeling cared for and refreshed.

In short, my stylist-hopping days are over!

Stanley has been cutting my hair for nearly five years. Not only does he give great cuts, but he is always honest about what will work best for you and your hair. Not only does he consider the way it looks, but he asks you about your work and lifestyle to ensure the best cut for you. The whole staff is friendly and down to earth. I have followed Chris for over 10 years, from E 19th Street in Brooklyn all the way to his present location. He has never let me down and is the only person I would trust to put natural looking highlights in my waist-length hair. The salon is pleasant and the staff are considerate and attentive.

I've been going to chi-chi salons for years, always feeling like I was being over-charged to not get what I want. My friend has been recommending this place so I finally went. Natashia gave me the best head massage and shampoo--it relieved me of all my stress. Paul gave me the perfect color I've been looking for all my life, and Noelle gave me a haircut that looks good no matter what I do to it. Aside from the obvious skill of my hairdressers they were fun, the gregarious staff had me rolling on the floor laughing. Loved It!

I cheated and I'll do it again. Yes, I decided to cheat on my stylist and went to Henry at the Christopher Stanley Salon. From the wonderful hairwashing experience to the time spent to figure out what would work best for me. The experience was fun and the result was fantastic. I caved into pressure from a coworker and visited this salon. It was a horrible experience. The people that I encountered were oblivious and seemed overly pleased with themselves. One unnamed owner seemed very distracted. While he may be skilled, he apparently decided to save his skills for someone else. His lack of care and attention, as well as his support staffs insincerity offended me.

I met Julie St. Germain back in Boston and have been loyal to her ever since. I was even travelling to New York to get my hair done after she moved from Boston. All for good reason, she's well worth the trip. Julie has seen me through many different styles and colors. She is very creative and has always made my hair look and feel great, despite all the bleaching and coloring I've tortured her with over the years. I've always been complimented on my cut and especially my color. As I've gotten "older" she has made my transition from cool, trendy hair to a more sophisticated look easy for me. I tell all my friends and family to go to Julie, and once they do, they become a part of her huge following. Christopher Stanley is lucky to have her!

I can not say enough good things about this salon. I have gone to the owners of this salon for MANY years and was thrilled when they decided to open on their own. They are extremely talented, creative, professional, organized and fun to spend time with. i was referred to this salon by a friend, who's hair I had always admired. On my first visit, both Christopher, the colorist, and Stanley, the stylist, took a team approach and did a joint consultation on my hair, after taking the time to listen to my thoughts.

Then, the metamorphosis occurred! They gave me the best haircut, coloring and highlighting I had ever received in my life. I've received more compliments about my hair than ever before!

My hair has become a walking billboard, as well as a testament, to the magic that both Christopher and Stanley perform. I have referred friends to this salon, where they, too, have received the best hair treatment ever.

This 'hair magic" is performed in a relaxing atmosphere with courteous and professional staff, making it a most pleasant experience. It truly is the best salon in New York!
