Christopher Stanley Salon

I have been using the salon for the past year and am quite pleased. Noelle really is a magician when it comes to cutting hair. It always looks great, and she is full of styling tips to keep it that way. So far I have had only single process coloring, which was fine, very natural and healthy looking. Friends who have had highlights done there always look fantastic afterwards. It can be very busy there, so it is important to be on time, as I learned once the hard way. I was admittedly quite late, and Noelle couldn't finish the blowdrying since other clients were waiting. They gave me a stand-in, who unfortunately did a sub-par job, and the price of the cut remained the same, of course. So, if you are going to spend the money on this salon, come on time, and it should be worth it.

I went into Christopher Stanley Salon because of some serious damage from another salon. My hair was in horrible condition and it looked even worse. Everyone was so kind, and Christopher and his team healed my hair and made it look fabulous!!! It was a win win situation. Not to mention, he snuck me into his bussy day so that I didnt have to go another day with hair from hell. I have alot of respect for the team at Christopher Stanley.

After reading all these great reviews, I guess I should give it a try. I'd like to get some blonde highlights and so far I have only been disappointed (all my previous highlights done in NY turned out to be orange). So I can't wait to try this salon! I'll let you know..

Went back after two years for highlight....I simply quite highlight for a long time but when I want to try again, I go back for Maria. I am Asian and my hair is very tricky to highlight without orange or red all over. Maria is realistic and patience. The first attempt didn't come out the way I like but she's willing to add more right after. I am very happy about the place. All the staffs are very competent, which is refreshing. This time I think I will keep up with my highlight with the help of Maria.

I returned to Stanley today for my third visit. I am very pleased with my haircut and, once again, if you are looking for professional, talented and friendly hairstylist, Stanley has all these qualities! Stanley has a good eye and individual treatment. I highly recommend Christopher Stanley Salon!

I visited this salon for the first time yesterday based solely on the great reviews listed here. I'm soo glad that I did. Noelle took my unfortunate over-grown, dried-up, limp hair and transformed it into a beautiful, up-to-date style that I love, love, love. It is so good that she wasn't even totally finished creating the style and I already loved it. Noelle is wonderfully talented and anyone looking to get a great haircut should definitely go see her.

In the city, I have found a salon that is not only comfortable but where they really care about getting it right! My first time there they had to "repair" a bad coloring job and did not give up until they were happy with it!

Go to this salon RIGHT NOW!. You will look great, guaranteed. Paul the colorist will make your hair color look fantastic and will take years off your age. Plus, he's funny and a pleasure to talk with. Noel, the stylist will give you a great cut and make you feel ready to tackle the hippest clubs. Your style and color will last a very long time (months) and you will probably go back to the salon sooner than your look requires, simply because you miss the atmosphere. The serve coffee and other beverages, and thay have parties to which the invite their grateful, gorgeous clients. Make an appointment today.

After trying 4 different high end salons in the city, I finally found Christopher Stanley. Mark did my highlights and Noel did my cut, both were incredible. I get my hair done quite often without people noticing too much, but after this I had complements for weeks. Its been 8 weeks and my highlights still look great somehow! I've found my salon for sure! I HIGHLY recommend them.

I read the reviews and was really excited. Cut by christopher was good but not worth the price. Color by Natashia was amazing and since she has left it hasnt been the same. See how many reviews there are? strange right? you get a discount for writting one.

Extremely satisfied with Paul's single process for my shoulder length hair. The color came on beautifully and has been almost perfect for the last 6-8 weeks. It set my skin tone and features much better off than the previous color.

I maintained the color using products from the salon and my texture and natural gloss have not suffered in the least. Paul is definitely the go-to colorist for me!!

I got a great haircut at Christopher Stanley. The stylist really listened to what I wanted and asked me questions about my hair routine and gave me a haircut that suited me. I will definitely return.

I've moved to NY from London and have been trying different hair salons since I've been here. Finally I've found somewhere where I can feel confident that the sylist will talk and listen to me about my hair! And what great results they produce too. I went to Johnny about six moths ago and discovered that he really knew what he was doing and that he really understood hair. This was my second visit with him and the man has changed my life. I went into the salon bored with my long hair and wanted something completely different. I had never had short hair before, but I was ready for a change. JOHNNY GAVE ME THE MOST AMAZING CUT I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!! Johnny Gaita is not just a hair stylist. He is an artist whose cuts are GENIUS.

Before going to the Christopher Stanley Salon and having Johnny do my hair, I always hated getting my hair cut. Now that I've found this salon, I can't wait til my next appointment with Johnny!

I am going back to Christopher Stanley Salon a second time to get my hair highlighted and cut, and while it is true that you get 20% off for writing a review (although they don't specify that it has to be a good review), that discount wouldn't be enough to get me to drive from Washington, DC. Mark has done my hair for 7 years, and recently moved from DC to Christopher Stanley Salon. He is amazing, and is worth the 8 hour round trip. My color is always perfect, and my haircut is always exactly what I want. I seriously suggest you go visit him.

After reading so many great reviews, I just had to go to this place for my highlights. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I thought it was just average. I have had my highlights done at other places at half the price and they came out the same. I wasn't sure why the reviews were so great until I got to the counter and realized that they give you 20% off for writing a review on Citysearch. Would I go back?....maybe for 20% off.

I went to Maria for my highlights and they came out great!! I have gotten so many compliments. My hair looks extremely natural andI did not have to go back for 4 months. Everyone at the salon is extremely nice and very laid back. I have recommended thsi place to all of my friends.

After going to Christopher Stanley and getting the best cut and color of my life, I am mortified that I walked around with my crappy 'do for so long! I knew the money I spent was worth it when my facialist was pulling my hair back and said, "Ooooohhh, nice highlights! I totally thought they were natural. WHO did these??" And she used to work at Prive so she knows what she's complimenting.

I found Christopher Stanley Salon to be excellent because the person who cut my hair, Noelle was precise and spent a great deal of time making sure that my hair was exactly what I wanted. I have never had anyone in New York take so long to make sure that the cut was perfect.

I think the salon has a very casual vibe which is very comfortable. Good coffee too!

I had a wonderful experience at Christopher Stanley, everyone there is so friendly and unpretentious. Noelle (haircut) and Mark (highlights) are great! I got a trim without losing too much length and highlights that were very subtle and natural (as requested).

It's easy to understand why Mark has such a strong following...he is absolutely brilliant with color and he managed to turn my sad mop into a 'do nothing short of fabulous. He's also a great listener - after talking about what I wanted I trusted him enough to do what would work best. I was thrilled with the results. After too many dissappointing haircuts in this city I've finally found a salon to call home. The salon was chic while also providing a welcoming experience and the staff was very friendly.

I followed Mark from DC up to Christopher Stanley in New York and it was well worth spending all day in the car. Not only did I get the superb haircut that I am used to, but the salon was very welcoming and Peter relaxed me completely when he washed my hair!! There is even a parking garage right across the street. Unfortunately I can't make the drive every haircut, but I certainly will try! I can't say enough about Mark and the whole salon!!!

After searching for a great salon for over two years I finally found one that I will never leave in Christopher Stanley. The hightlight and cut I received were the best I've had since moving to the city 5 years ago. Mark is especially skilled and great at listening to and giving you exactly what you want for your hair. I walked out for their beaming my hair looked so good.

I had never been to CS Salon before until yesterday, and therefore did not know what to expect. The salon was beautiful, and the staff was so nice. Mark did both my color and cut. He has actually done my hair for the past 7 years, and I drove up from DC (he used to work there), and will continue to do so because he does an amazing job. Definitely go and see him!

I started seeing Mark at Christopher Stanley last spring after a falling out with my regular colorist. My highlights turned out great that first time and I'm going back for my third time next week. Mark's color expertise is amazing and as a beauty writer I know of what I speak. He mixes three different tones for my hair, blending them from the bottom up, for a very natural looking result. My Madison Avenue stylist, who I still go to for cut, even admits he'd hire Mark in a minute if he could. Plus the salon itself is great. No matter when I've been there, a busy Saturday afternoon or even when I phone to make an appointment, the lack of 'attitude' is refreshing. How nice to be told "we'll schedule you for a full head of highlights even if you may only need half a head - better to have extra time." Where do you get that kind of service, especially from a downtown salon? Yes, it's a little more pricey, but hey - I'm worth it!

After reading reviews, walked into the salon yesterday to get a consult. Spoke with a stylist about getting highlights and was given lots of ideas and suggestions. When I mentioned I had heard about another colorist, he gladly introduced me to her, no problem, and allowed the time for the second consult as well. Liked the attitude and looking forward to scheduling appointments.

After moving to NYC 18 months ago I tried a lot of different salons, but none of them left me wanting to go back there again. I read about CS Salon in the City Search and decided to give it a try. What a gem! I would never go anywhere else! Christopher does fantastic job with the highlights and I always receive complements about how natural my blond hair looks like. Stanley takes time to discuss what will suit me best for my hair type and face shape, teaches hair styling and drying techniques on the way.
Everyone in the salon are very friendly and professional and its a pleasure to come here. I look forward to my visits every time.

This was one of the most unprofessional experiences ever. They act like they are doing you a favor, not like youre paying top dollar for what is definitely not a top dollar experience. I was left ALONE in the shop while sitting with my color - all the staff people that were there wree in the back room hanging out. The assistants were rude and the colorist was so unprofessional - he spent the entire time badmouthing his old boss. Skip this one

Eight weeks ago I first visited Christopher-Stanleys to have Mark cut my long hair to a short chin length cut along with Maria coloring and highlighting. I first made the appt. after reading all the great reviews on CitySearch. My appt. and hair cut/color lived up to it's expectations. I have received so many compliments and my hair has never looked better. I booked a 2nd appt. before even leaving the salon. Tomorrow is my 2nd appt., and I couldn't be more excited. Mark and Maria are both very talented and friendly. They listen to what you want, but also offer suggestions.

Received a model cut from junior stylist Mauricio Cifuentes and I don't think I've ever had a more stylish, easy to care for haircut. I would even pay full price for his skills when he's promoted to stylist! Also, the laid back vibe makes an NYC haircut a soothing experience.

I love Noelle's haircuts and she is worth the price and my highlights are always nice, but I think that this salon has such high ratings mostly because you get a 20% discount when you write a positive review. But my hat's off to them-- it's a good buisness strategy.

It's a good salon, but ultimately not worth the extra bucks.

Wanna undo somebody else's bad coloring and get the perfect color you originally wanted? Then come here and have Christopher the magician do his stuff. No worries, just perfect color. I didn't need a cut, but the people getting cut & styles looked great. Highly recommended.

I was beside myself last fall because I thought my favorite hair stylist, Johnny who was formally at Antonio Prieto salon, had left the profession. Specifically, I was informed repeatedly that John had decided to go back to school and that it was unlikely that he would continue to cut hair. After 3 months, I finally found out that I was misinformed and that he was actually at Christopher Stanley. I made an appointment immediately and had a first rate experience at Christopher Stanley salon. My last cut with John was in January and it is now mid April and my hair still looks fabulous! I am so thankful that I found John because he has obviously become one of the best kept secrets of the New York City salon industry.

I have been going to Christopher Stanley for about 6 months now and never have I had better color/cut and service. I am blonde and have always had a hard time achieving that perfect golden color. Christopher has given me this! Along with the expertise of Chris, Mauricio cuts my hair. As an apprentice he only charges $35 but could easily get away with charging the price that senior stylists charge. He not only cuts amazingly but he styles my hair like I am about to go on a runway.

I tried a lot of different salons in NY before a couple of people recommended CS. The colors (Paul) and cuts (Noelle) are outstanding and I HIGHLY recommend Christopher Stanley Salon! I have never felt rushed and the stylists always listen and take the time to discuss the look I want - and never try to "experiment" with my hair color or cut! They're great at offering useful suggestions and are gifted at knowing what will work best with a person's coloring and features. Everyone tells me that this is the best and most natural color I have ever had and I definitely agree. Everyone at CS is very friendly, professional, and unpretentious - and the atmophere is very energetic but you'll also feel like you've treated yourself to some relaxing salon time!
