Johnny has been cutting my hair now for 2 years. I'm the kind of person who does not trust any stylist and search high and low for a good one and then sticks with them until they die, move away or become too expensive (above $175). Johnny's particular strength is cuts that endure. My hair looks great for a long time and women I've referred to him comment that he almost makes himself absolute because they do not half to return for some time. His cuts are easy to maintain. He understands you want to look good with bed head, standing in the wind tunnel that is 5th ave, or have been primping for over an hour in the mirror. (it helps that he's not too bad to look at as well)

A good hairsylist is like anything else, once you find one you don't want to lose them. I temporarillly did lose Johnny Gaita, then after numerous hysterical phone calls and emails..I found him. Going to a new salon is also a little unnerving but the staff at Christopher Stanley make you feel like an old friend.
Johnnys cut was once again nothing short of amazing. He takes the time to discuss what look you are going for and then teaches you the correct way to style to achieve the results you desire. if you want to recieve numerous compliments and feel great about your hair..go visit Johnny!

My second haircut (I came back--that says a lot!) was just as good as the first. Noelle did an excellent job. I appreciated the quick consultation before my hair was washed and she listened to my suggestions and fears! I walked out feeling great and comfortable with my new style.

I was recommened to Paul by a friend for my first color consultation ever. I came in thinking blonde was the only way to fix my mouse brown locks, however with great certainty Paul explained how red would really do the trick. One week later, I was back in the salon. He explained the importance of picking the right hue that resonanated with skin tone and personality. His enthusiasm and skill made the coloring process ever so enjoyable and the final result was an absolute success. I comletely trust his eye and look forward to my next visit.

Finally a salon that delivers!! Paul colored my hair to perfection, balancing my base color with beautiful copper highlights. Noelle cut my hair in a way that really flattered my face even during the growing in stages. I was absolutely thrilled and have received many compliments. The service was on time, friendly and very professional. Somewhat pricey, but worth it. Run don't walk to this salon.

i've been going to stanley for haircuts for five years and wouldn't go anywhere else. Whenever you're in stanley's chair he immediately puts you at ease - he's incredible with naturally curly hair and always takes the time to answer any questions I have without making me feel "rushed." It's an extremely warm salon with a non-pretentious attitude. Everyone, from the front desk to the rest of the staff are friendly, incredibly professional and VERY talented. If you're looking for a wonderful haircut - Stan's your man!

I read a review 7 years ago about Stanley's magic with curly hair - and I've been going to him ever since. I'm an educator and I don't have the time/energy to spend a lot of time maintaining a cut... but he really gives incredible cuts that last (and realistic quick ways to style at home). - Stanley gets an A+ in my book.

Stanley is the best! I have extremely curly hair and high-end salons have attempted to color my dark blond hair with light blond highlighs. I set up a FREE consultation to see if Stanley could even out my color. He looked at me and said, Honestly, I just cant agree with you...your coloring is not right for a blond; it completely washes you out. Stanley spent the next 30 minutes holding up color swatches to see what worked best with my skin tone. I went will Stanley's suggestions, and he transformed me from a blah dark blond to a natural-looking red. He blended the highlights so perfectly with my natural color that there will be minimal maintenance. And as if that wasn't enough, Stanley proceeded to give me the best trim I have ever had....and for those of you curly girls out there, you know this is a rare find!

I am frequently asked where I have my hair colored and cut and I am always happy to heartily recommend The Christopher Stanley Salon. To me it is the ultimate compliment for a salon to have their work admired. Christopher Gamper has colored my hair for many years and he has always provided professional, honest and artistic advice to assist in making the best color decisions. Johnny Gaita is a creative stylist and his technical skill is amazing. His cuts actually allow for the growth of your hair so that your style looks equally as good the sixth week as the first day. Add to all of this the relaxed atmosphere and you get a gem of a salon.

I had dark black color build up on my ends, but needed to color my graying roots. Stanley and Natasha gave me a very thorough consultation and then Natasha did it. I left with warm brown hair from root to tips and some very pretty highlights to boot.

After spending 6 years in this city without discovering any salon I would frequent more than once (including well-known high-end salons), I am quite relieved to have located the Christopher Stanley salon. Julie is a very knowlegeable colorist who made me feel relaxed from the start. She envisioned the color I required even without much assistance from me. Peter, her dynamic and engaging assistant, was full of hair care tips while making my hair completely straight. Run, don't walk, to this salon.

Christopher Stanley is an outstanding, exceptional salon. I have red hair which is generally difficult to get just right - Christopher gives me a great color that lasts longer than any ohter colorist ever has. I get compliments from total strangers and everyone thinks it's natural. Stanley does an amazing job cutting my hard to handle curly/wavy hair. The atmosohere is GREAT - not stuck up or pretentious like so many high end salons can be. I recommend CS wholeheartedly!!!

I have natural reddish brown hair that is very hard to duplicate, especially once you start going gray (at 28!) I love my natural color, and was skeptical that anyone could keep my hair looking great or greater. I went to a colorist who made my hair orange, and I was freaked out. That is, until Natasha worked her magic on me. She matched my natural color exactly, including the highlights! She is a color genius, and needs to be praised for her talents... it's a gift. I will continue to go to her for color, and may try a cut at some point... although right now I love my stylist.

Christopher Stanley salon is filled with friendly people, and is bare bones enough to make you feel at home, not intimidated by the NYC "scene" that manifests in some upscale salons.

Through the apprentice program I was very pleased to receive a partial head of highlights from Peter. He performs like a pro and is very careful and takes his time to produce perfection. I definitely recommend using the apprentice program for anyone who doesnt want to spen $200+ for a great head of highlights. Will definitely go back!

After a horrific coloring experience, I entrusted my fragile and desperate hair to Paul's magic hands. I first droppped in for a quick consultation, and Paul quickly came up with a plan to conquer the ashy mop that had invaded my head. A week later, I had my appointment, and Paul worked diligently to turn my unruly mane into pleasantly highlighted golden blonde tresses. Phew. Ladies - I am now forever attached to Christopher Stanley salon and Paul. I sit here with sweat wiped off my brow, glad to have heard his words: "Don't let anyone ever tell you that you have something irreversible that can't be fixed!" I can't wait for my next coloring appointment.

I am new to New York so was a bit wary of finding a new salon, but Christopher Stanley is a great place. The salon is stylish and spacious and the staff very friendly. Natasha colored my hair and touched up my highlights beautifully, leaving my hair looking in excellent condition. And Mauricio gave my hair a wonderful blow-dry, I walked out feeling fabulous! I will definately be going back.

If you are tired of looking for the perfect salon, look no further. Christopher Stanley is the best! There is nothing more stressful than moving to a new city and trying to find a new colorist. I tried a salon that was suggested to me by a friend and they turned me into a leopard. Extremely desperate and nauseated with the results, I decided to go with Christopher Stanley since they had so many great reviews. I am so thankful I did. Natasha saved me! She fixed spots and made me into a natural looking blond. She is the best! I have found my salon!

I've been everywhere in NYC and Paul is by far the best color guy to go to. When I checked in at the front desk, he was actually running on time! (That's a first for a busy colorist) He was really nice and he totally fixed my botched color job. I'm LOVING my hair! It feels amazing and the entire process was enjoyable. No pressure to buy products, although the ones he recommended are awesome. You're totally safe in his hands. And don't worry about feeling uncomfortable at his salon either, they're all really friendly.

randomly found a FANTASTIC haridresser- Stanley. He understands "hair" and knows what is good for your hair type, listens to what you're trying to accomplish and is great on educating you with styling tools, tips, etc. WITHOUT pushing his knowledge or products. Great, simple haircut with amazing results. I will be going back for a long time, despite the higher prices! Stanley is worth every dime! Seems like a great Salon too!

I went to CS around last christmas for the first time. Loved my fabulous cut - Julie is awesome and has seriously amazing skills. My highlights were gorgeous and perfect - Stanley is no joke when it comes to giving his clients the perfect color that is best-suited for them. Everyone who saw it fell in love with it too and even I acquired some jealous fans. Midway in the year when it was time for a trim, I cheated. But after that I made a vow to be faithfu to CS because I've realized no one else can compare. I went back last month, Julie with open arms. I am once again a happy, smiley, beautiful, fabulous chick. Thank you guys! I love you!

Julie gave me a fabulous cut, which was particularly impressive to me because I have very short hair! Everyone was very friendly and there atmosphere was very chill - much better than the stuffiness of the uptown salons. I can't wait to go back!

My hair is no stranger to hair salons. I usually go to the spanish girls in the Bronx but my co-workers highly recommended this salon so I decided to give it a try since I was in desperate need of a haircut. I got my hair cut through the Apprentice Program which was only $35 (what a bargain!). My stylist, Brandy, was the best. She completely understood what I wanted even when I couldnt exactly put it into words. She gave me a great haircut and made my hair look healthy again. Best of all, she taught me how to properly tame my curls and gave me the cutest blow dry. The entire staff there is so kind. Very different than what you would expect. The Christopher Stanley Salon has made a customer out of me. I would def. recommend this place.

Natashia did an excellent job with my highlights and added a lot more texture to the existing color, which was a needed improvement. Stanley gave me a great cut and dispensed very valuable, down-to-earth hair care advice. I found the entire staff to be friendly and courteous.

I read so many postive reviews on this website about Paul C. that i made an appointment. You know what ladies? He really is just as good as all of you said he would be. My hair looks awesome! He's also a very mellow, cool guy (no one seemed to mention that he's super HOT too!) He gave me what i wanted. And he took all my fear of change into consideration. He blended out the grays in my hair and made it looks like movie star hair! It looks like i had high-lights but it was a one process! Maria washed out the color and gave me a blissful scalp massage (my GOD!!) Then, she blew it dry for me. Can i keep her? She did a fabulous job making me feel SUPER sexy. As for Paul: Love him... never going anywhere else.

I had a color with Christopher last year and it was one of my best experience ever (I haven't returned yet because I cut my hair - at another salon - this winter and this cut doesn't worth the money. I was a little bit worried because I had just moved from Europe and it was my first color in the city. Also reading the review I had the feeling that they specialize in brunette and I wanted honey highlights but Christopher is the king of color, it's that simple. The color actually improved as the time went by and it was still beautiful after 3-4 months.
Also I appreciate that they don't ask you a credit card when making an appointment, that's part of the cooliness of the place. The only down

I went to Natasha b/c I had a horribly botched dye job. She made my hair look wonderful! I just love it! I didn't think I would ever get my hair back to a decent color and she did. The entire staff is very friendly and laid back - expecially Brandy. They all make you feel like you've been going there for years!

During the last 4 years living in NYC it has been a challenge to find a hair salon that offers a fabulous hair cut with a great value. I have finally found a salon worth venturing back to for a second (and third, and fourth...) time. Julie at Christopher Stanley provided me with the hair cut of my dreams, a style that totally fit the frame of my face in combination with the look that I was going after. After seeing the craftsmanship that goes into the work at Christopher Stanley, I think that I may gain the courage to actually highlight my hair, something that I have always wanted to do, but have been too scared to... The atmosphere at Christopher Stanley Salon is friendly and welcoming. After a botched coloring experience at another salon, a friend suggest that I make an appointment with Stanley. Stanley fixed the botch and made me look great. I've stayed with him ever since. He's helped me look good when I've been in the mood to experient with new colors and given me natural highlights when I've just wanted to brighten my look. What a wonderful find this small hair salon has been for me. Paul is an absolute magician with color. I have received a tremendous amount of compliants on my new look. Paul has created a great balance of my own natural color and highlights.
Noelle is the hair stylist that I have had the pleasure of using at the salon. I have finally found someone who understands how to cut and style curly hair. It is a real pleasure to have my hair styled so that I can recreate the same look at home.
I HIGHLY recommend the Christopher Stanley Salon to anyone who is tired of having a constant bad hair day.

I went to Stanley for a haircut after reading the good reviews on here. While he is avery pleasant man, he gave me a very boring, average haircut - although I told him I wanted something edgy. He told me that although he could do edgy, it wasn't really his thing, but not to worry b/c he COULD do it. I'm here to tell you that he can't.

My hair was really dated looking and blah. If you want anything at all funky, go elsewhere.

i was lucky my dear friend told me about her wonderful hair colorist "mr paul c"...i went to try him out and loved my highlights and have become a client and very satisfied blonde....i also tried noelle for a cut and have been delighted...getting both wonderful color and cut in the same salon is great....the staff is family like not stuffy and snobby like i have experienced in other places....everyone from stars to everyday people are welcome and treated special....i always leave wih a smile and great hair!

Based on all of the reviews I expected a great job on my single process color. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted, articulated it, but the results were far from what I expected. They charged an exorbitant amount, and the finished product was not at all worth it. I wouldn't recommend it.
