Definately get your color done by Julie--she does the most beautiful work i've seen in nyc (and i shopped around a ton!) her cuts are great too! been going to her religiously for 5 years now and have never been disappointed! (have Maricio wash your hair--mmmm!)

Based on all of the reviews I expected a great job on my single process color. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted, articulated it, but the results were far from what I expected. They charged an exorbitant amount, and the finished product was not at all worth it. I wouldn't recommend it.

This salon is my favorite thing about living in NYC! Stanley gives the best haircuts! He takes so much time talking to me about what I want and what he is thinking. I feel like I have a new stlye every time that I leave. Christopher is amazing with color! I have tried for years to find the perfect shade of red. Christopher was the first person who was able to help me and now I love my color. I get compliments on my hair all of the time. It is so much fun going to this salon!

Stanley and Christopher are not only talented, creative and attentive, but so much fun!
From the moment I entered the salon, I knew that I was going to leave feeling like a new person. After a brief consultation with Christopher, my highlights were perfect! He knew exactly what I wanted. Stanley took the time to talk to me and make suggestions while at the same time, hearing my concerns. He actually taught me how to trim my bangs. You can't ask for more than that. Everyone that works in the salon is friendly and helpful. I am looking forward to my next appointment and I know that I will be completely happy when I leave.

I was referred to Chritopher Stanley Salon through a friend who had seen Paul. After a warm welcome and a quick assesment of my "situation" he suggested that change my color completely. I am so glad i trusted him. I have NEVER had so many compliments in my life. My hair feels so soft and shiny and the color really works well with my skintone. This man definitely knows exactly what he's doing.

My hair was very badly damaged from pregnancy and a bad color job (somewhere else) and Paul did a great job turning it around. I am very happy with the results and have received lots of compliments! They have a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere and have been on time every time!

Several years ago I start coloring my hair as the unwanted grays unrelentingly grew.
A friend with the same problem, we all seem to have them after a certain age, recommended Christopher. She knew that I was nervous but more importantly very meticulous and fussy. Being that I oversee the modeling retouching for an advertising agency. I do have a concerning eye for detail. Christopher has been nothing but professional, talented and a joy to be around. That same disposition has continued through to the overall staff which is also warm and inviting.

Paul is one of the best colorist for dark hair in New York City. My hair color looks incredbily natural. Even with one process it looks like I have highlights. The atmosphere in the salon is friendly and warm. Everyone there is fantastic - They make you feel really special. Great experience all around.

Both my cousin and I followed our colorist, Paul, from his last salon when he joined Christopher Stanley. Then we discovered Noelle, who's the only one I trust with my cut now -- I'm one of those women with really long hair and she manages to make it look fresh and light without sacrificing the long look. Plus I can work with it myself really easily, and it grows out really well, too. I even recommended them to a friend in Houston, TX, who flies in at least a few times a year to go see them both!

I cannot tell you what a relief it is to finally find a place where not only do you get a great haircut, but you also walk out with the most fantastic color. I see Julie, she does both color and my cut. My search is over for the best stylist and colorist in the city. I have also went to Vincent for a cut and it was equally fabulous. We all know that lots of stylists can give you a great cut -- but what's truly remarkable about Stanley's work is that his cuts look beautiful for weeks and weeks and weeks. Great for you (not for him!) But, you'll want to go there regularly -- for Stanley is always focused on making you look your best -- he is great at integrating your vision of your "best look" with what your hair can do -- the results are always stunning. I've been a client for four years and would follow him anywhere.

I've been to many top salons in NYC- and I have finally found the one that styles and colors my hair to perfection! I've been coming here for a year now (I wish I had come sooner!)... I never leave unhappy or unsatisfied... but rather happy, sexy and glowing like a new person. Color, cut, attitude and atmosphere are flawless... and they never push you to buy products as many other salons do. I have had my hair colored by Paul of Christopher Stanley for about four years. He does a fabulous job of covering grey and giving very natural highlights. I found out about Paul and the salon from a magazine and I anticiptated an intimidating environment. But the truth is, the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. I very much enjoy my visits because Paul and his assistants are so lively and fun.

Now back to Paul: he has an amazing aesthetic sense for hair color and style. Every suggestion he has given me has turned out great. The color is very natural, only better. Paul has suggested a cut by Noel.
But I never cut my long hair, except for a little trim here and there. So Thursday, I take the big step. I'll let you know how it turns out!

Paul C. is an extraordinary colorist. I require blonde highlights, and single processing and grey coverage. Not so easy to look natural! But for the five years I have followed Paul I have received compliments on my hair almost on a daily basis.
Do yourself a favor and book an appointment with Paul at this unpretentious, welcoming, salon.

Every time I visit Noelle at the Christopher Stanley salon it is a great experience. Appointments start on time. The atmosphere is comfortable, not pretentious like other NYC salons and best of all, I always leave with a great new cut and style that looks fabulous until the next visit. Noelle has cut my hair for over 4 years and I refuse to go anywhere else.

I've looked for years to find a salon with staff that listens to me. I finally found it in Christopher Stanley Salon. From the moment I booked my appointment, I knew I'd found the perfect place. Christopher Stanley is the only business for which i have ever written a review-- and this is my second one. I have been a client for 5 years and not once have i had a bad cut or color. But, it gets better:

The salon now offers the Keratin Straightening treatment that can be used with colored or processed hair. In fact, my hair has never looked so healthy. I have (had) curly hair that would take me forever to dry, let alone straighten. Now, it's 5 minutes with a hot iron and not even the Florida humidity made it frizz. It lasts for 3-4 months. Unlike other straighteners, the treatment stays in your hair and gradually washes out, so you won't have straight hair on bottom and curls on top.

Mauricio has done both my treatments, and I feel like a totally new person. I can not say one bad thing about the salon or the people in it.

Pros: Trust them, they know your hair better than you do.

Ive been getting my haircut by Noelle for several years now and and I just love the way she cuts my hair. If my hairs not cut right, it just falls flat on my face. But Noelle always gives me innovative ideas and tries new styles that look great even when I am initially hesitant. Shes extremely down to earth and knows how to give an excellent cut. Everyone at the salon is great. I highly recommend!!

The Christopher Stanley Salon is truly amazing and Christopher and Stanley are simply the best! Stanley is so talented at cutting curly hair - I used to have to get my haircut every 4 weeks and with Stanley I go every 8 - 10 weeks. He is attentive and listens to you. I get my hair highlighted by Christopher. Christopher is extremely creative and skilled. He also listens to you and knows what color is best - you can definitely trust him with your hair! The staff is nice and down-to-earth - the atmosphere is very comfortable. I will never leave Christopher and Stanley!

Thanks to the reviews I read here, I chose CS salon and went in for a great cut (Henry) and great color (Natasha). Both were very attentive, listened to my requests and delivered 110%. I cannot emphasize enough how professional and talented the staff is--such a pleasant change from so many salons. The vibe remains casual, relaxed. You may walk in feel scraggly but you'll walk out a supermodel.

I'm hesitant to write about how fabulous Natasha (color) and Henry (cut) are as I'm afraid they'll book up quicker than usual... I get compliments on my color up until the day before my next appointment--with an inch + of roots! I don't know how she does it, but she does. Henry gave me such a precise cut--he was more obsessive than I usually am!

Noelle is the best, she always gets my curly hair straight & when I do go curly she turns my tangled frizz into soft bouncy tendrils! Every time I get my haircut I dread the day I will have to wash it-it always looks perfect! And the one time I "experimented" w/at home color :( They fit me in last minute & changed my 'science project' into a work of art, I only wished I went there first!

After 10 years of trusting my hair to the same styilist I decides to take the advise of my friend Mike. I had been making the trek uptown even after living downtown for many years. Mike always raved about Stanley's talent and good nature, so I made an appoitment. Stanley did something so few styilist do, He listened. He made some suggestions, but my haircuts are always a collabortion between the two of us. Besides listening, Stanley always has an amusing story to tell.

I just moved here from North Carolina and had been with my previous hairstylist for 6 years. I always thought that my hair looked "OK."
I was searching for a new colorist and found Paul C. through this website. He totally changed my look! I went from a boring mousy brown to a stunning BLONDE. His assistant then blew out my hair into the sexiest wavy curls! I cannot explain how happy I am with my new hair.

Although I have to travel quite a ways to get there, the Christopher Stanley Salon is well worth the trip. The staff is very friendly and helpful, I get beautiful highlights from Natasha, and I'm never kept waiting. I feel that the people there really care about your ideas and what is important to you, and are focused on giving you the best look possible.

I was impressed from the moment I stepped into the salon. Sleek design and very cool staff without an ounce of pretension. My appointment began right on time. Stanley took the time to sit down with me and discuss my hair, my look, my lifestyle. More importantly, he got it right away. He lavished praise on my natural hair color and told me to never mess with it (I can't tell you how many salon owners have tried to persuade me to color it!) He made me look like a rock star goddess. Then he showed me how I could repeat the magic at home. At the end I got a big warm hug and literally felt that I had made some new friends. This was the priciest cut I've ever gotten ($120), but worth every penny.

I had been to several well-known downtown salons before trying out Christopher Stanley. It was by far the best cut, color and price out of all of them. Julie is a fantastic stylist and colorist -- she managed to get the perfect balance of red and blonde highlights to look natural in my hair. I would definitely go back, and recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch yet affordable salon.

I started going to see Stanley about two years ago and would highly recommend him for a cut. I have not gone to anyone else since & he gave me great tips to take better care of my hair through using different products, including ways to strenghthen my weak hair. Henry is the best for haircuts! When I walked in, I thought I knew what I wanted. He took the time to look at my hair, how much time I spend on it, etc. Made great suggestions and it looks fantastic! He took his time cutting it but was not overly meticulous. Would highly recommend him!

Noelle is by far the most talented. I have been going to Noelle for the past four years and followed her to Christopher Stanley. I have perfectly straight hair that Noelle has mastered to a BOB to a choppy style with bangs. She is so precise and a perfectionist. I am exteremly picky and she is the only person I trust. My boyfriend said the first time he met me he noticed me because of my hair!!

Walk in feeling blah and walk out feeling like a supermodel. A haircut and/or coloring at the Christopher Stanley Salon will keep you looking great for longer than any fix in NYC. Stanley is a genius with hair especially curly hair, and Christopher is a guru with color. Despite the high profile style youll receive, the salon is a totally comfy and unpretentious place. I actually found this salon from CitySearch. I LOVE IT! Noelle has been doing my hair for over a year now. She knows how to make my naturally wavy hair look FABULOUS. She puts her heart into each cut and does her job with love. Noelle always gives me product suggestions that fit my budget and are appropriate for my needs. The salon is not pretentious, stuffy or too casual- a perfect combo of professionalism, consitency, class and comfort. I've really found a great spot!

From the office to social settings, never before have I had so many men compliment my hair. Christopher's color is wonderful and he takes the time to listen to what you want. He spent 7 hours removing dark color from my hair and welcomed me back the next day when I wasn't fully satisfied the first time around. This salon is NOT a factory like some other NYC salons, these people remember your name and work with you to achieve a hairstyle that fits with your personality. If you're not happy, they will keep working with you until you are.
