This location of Canal Jean Company isn't really that great. It's definitely NOT in the middle of nowhere (it's located 2 blocks from the Flatbush Junction of Nostrand & Flatbush---a bustling area full of stores & shops as well as Brooklyn College!) Less than half a block up is a big green grocer/wholesale meat market and directly ahead of that is Brooklyn College. That said, unless you actually know Canal Jean Co. is there, or you're heading in the opposite direction away from the hustle & bustle of the Junction, then this is a horrible location.

The store however is huge (like the one in Manhattan) and boasts home furnishings, expensive designer originals for men, women & children, as well as a small section of open boxed and I guess lightly used appliances and gear for bikes, as well as toys. Even though the place is big & airy, they haven't organized it well. Often you have to make 2 or 5 trips in circles to find what you're looking for. You can find many bargains if you have patience. They also have fitting rooms, where you can try on the clothes.

To the other reviewer who didn't like being looked at by the skeleton staff (they really don't have that many people working there)...the reason they're probably looking at you is because they're bored.

PROS: Cheap merchandise, nice staff & Open Late!
CONS: Out of the way area

This store is literally located in the middle of nowhere. So unless you really like this store, there is no reason to even come all this way. Personally, I don't like it. The one in Manhattan may have been cool, but the Brooklyn one doesn't have as big a selection of clothes and accessories. Also, because it's located in the middle of nowhere, the staff looks at you when you shop, which is a thing I hate. I like to not be bothered when shopping. The good news is that they are building a big mall complex around there, so maybe once that is built, Canal Jeans is worth a few minutes look to judge for yourself. As of now, I would pass. They do have a make-your-own T-shirt stations, where you can design your own shirt. That is probably the one cool thing, but they opened a new one in Manhattan around the NYU area, so it might be easier to go there. The prices are pretty average.
