PATIO Lounge is Park Slope's most unique and refreshing bar - a lounge bar with a cool atmosphere that includes a Japanese Manga wall mural and loads of comfy couches. You can always count on music and a rotating art gallery of local artists at PATIO Lounge, with slamming DJs on the weekends mixing it up. Hang out inside and enjoy the music and ambiance or chill outside in the backyard Oasis. PATIO Lounge has 10 beers on tap, wine, champagne, liquor and a wide range of creative specialty drinks that you can't find anywhere else in Brooklyn. Private Parties welcome. (Special packages available) Happy hour special daily from 5-8 - $1 off of everything. DJ's spinning the real on Friday and Saturday NoCOVER! Free Food - Thurs - Sat.

The Scene
Green is the thing here, from the plants inside and the half-moon lime garnish on each clever concoction, to the grapevines climbing the walls of the patio out back. Slopers in vintage tees and flip-flops lounge on the clean-lined furniture, propping their feet up on tables or dangling them out the windowless front on warm evenings. It's a perfect perch to watch the neighborhood's colorful traffic.

The Draw
Finally a bar with something to look at: Three Japanese fighting fish swim under tiny spotlights, and a manga comic sprawls across one entire wall. Gracious bartenders stick a pink straw in each drink and make the most of the lack of liquor license, with sangria, sake and champagne cocktails. Try a white-wine margarita or mango-sake driver for a shot of July to get you through the colder months.

Key Points

  • Private parties welcome
  • Cool space, great music
  • Happy Hour Specials -- $1 off

The Inside Scoop

  1. The Extras - If you're feeling peckish, grilled cheese and other simple snacks are available.
  2. Know Before You Go - The back patio closes at 11pm on weekdays, 1am on weekends.
  3. Save Money - Happy hour runs from 5pm to 8pm daily, with $2 Bud, $3 Yuengling, small Sangria pitchers for $10 and $1 off all drafts.

Didn't even make it in the door

by lifubing

All i wanted was a cool place to chill for a couple of hours in the late afternoon - all i got was a rudeness from the guy opening up. i didn't spend any money or time there, but if you can get past the staff it looks like a nice place.

Pros: has couches, looks fairly nice

Cons: staff are derisive and rude

NO NEED TO GO TO THE CITY!!!

by MoeMusic

You have to disregard any reviews prior to April 08! Patio is now under different management (Adrienne, AKA Queen), and she is really trying to create that nostalgic "neighborhood hot spot" feel! the venue is available to host any type of event (50-60 people) and the locals keep the atmosphere nice and relaxed! Afterwork parties can begin as early as 5pm. and easily blend into the night time flow of the lounge!! As your musical host, I'm devoted to providing the best range of music so that everyone feels like its THEIR night!
Check out: patioloungecom

Pros: Unpretentious, Cozy, Music selection (hey, I'm the DJ!!)!

Cons: no parking(neighborhood), Patrons sometimes dirty the bathrooms.

Best Beer Blends in the SLOPE!!!

by uprootedpeoples

This place is pretty snazzy! patio lounge has that warm and fuzzy sloper sensibility -- in that you can totally chill out in their super comfy sofas while drinking a beer. this spot is superb for a pre-dinner date, because it doesn't get too crowded during happy-hours, and the lighting makes everyone look hot yo! they got tons of special beers on tap! you gotta try their white raspberry (half berry, half hoegaarden)!!! ask sylvia what this blend is really called while she pours you a tall one! it's the best in town!!!

Excellent Service

by aaa288

I had a suprise for my boyfriend at the time ( now my hubby) . I had about 10-15 friends with me, had cake ordered Sangria's they were real good. Had a blast the wait staff was aswome and accomedating and it was real nice.

Friendly and I was happy I choice it even though it was on a whim and last minute.

I had such a good time and had something for a girl friend afterwards. I am not into bars ..The lounge part was good and great place to have a little gathering

Pros: Good service and accommedating

Cons: don't know

local dive

by mirrormirror

It's the only casual bar left on the street. You can hang there all night, the drinks are cheap but strong, and the crowd is still Brooklyn chill rather than the latest East Village invasion. Solid live dj's and cool local art on the walls round out the place. The only decent place left.

Whuh Happened?

by hurricane19

Patio used to be great. That is, until they got their liquor license.

It was a great place that was usually uncrowded and pleasant. The drinks were strong and cheap. They served beer and cocktails made, usually, with sake. I know most raved about their lychee sake-tini. I liked the chill out Brooklyn vibe (live DJ) and the swell bartenders. Unfortunately, the frat patrol found out about our little oasis after Patio began serving hard booze. Now, the bathrooms get ripped up, drunk a-holes trip all over the place, and nobody has room to breathe. It kind of sucks. Maybe it was only the weekend crowd.

It's still a cool spot. Go early enough or during the week. And complain about the new Manhattan prices and attitude. First Great Lakes and now this!

Best little place ever

by snooker19

This is a small little bar in my neighborhood with japanese writing on the wall and cool lighting and always chill music. I've lived in this area for over 5 years and there is a difference between before this place got here and after. (Patio's been here for about 3 years by the way) I dont know what that other guy was talking about - I love the bartenders here, they're always really cute and definitely friendly but they don't take crap from drunken sailor types, thats for sure.

This is always my favorite place to hang out any day of the week. I go into Manhattan to get a change and visit my friends, and I always miss the vibe, prices and atmosphere at Patio.

Pros: Great bartenders, Good beer selection, Backyard

unpleasant atmosphere

by omegakos

The atmosphere at this lounge/bar is very unpleasant. The foremost problem is that the waiters/bartenders are very rude and I have observed them actually cursing at customers. The selection is very limited and the place sometimes feels very deserted.

chill vibe

by boo13

Patio is a cool loungey place to hang out - a lot of bars with the word "lounge" in them aren't really a lounge but this one is. the garden is lovely on cooler summer nights and the sangria is delicious. the bartenders are all very friendly and the place has an overall relaxed vibe that I find welcoming in a no-attitude but still a nice bar way. The hummus platter rocks too but they don't always have everything on their menu so if you are going there to eat something you might want to call in advance. The only downside is they do NOT serve liquor, only beer and wine/sangria/champagne. They make up for this with a menu of inventive drinks made with the stuff they are allowed to serve. check it out for yourself sometime.

Pros: delicious drinks, friendly staff/owners

Cons: no hard liquor

Fun Discovery

by tamichuang

The place was introduced to me by a friend when I visited from San Francisco a few months ago. I loved its chillness and ambiance right away, not to mention the kick-ass sakerinha's. Now that I've moved here, I'll definitely be back and tell others about it.

Pros: funky drinks, ambiance, price

What a Fun Pllace

by staceyb15

Great happy hour specials and a wonderful selection of beers on tap (not to mention the selection of bottled ones)
Bartenders are attentive and friendly. Crowd is diverse, from the die-hard trivia fans on Mondays to the diversity of Park slope on Saturday late night. Can't beat this great addition to 5th Ave.

Pros: Inexpensive

Where is the food?

by flexichick

Went there thinking we could get some snacks and drinks (based on their website, which includes the menu). The bartender told my friend that they were out of everything except olives! We had to order in from Press195. Come on, if you have a menu posted on your website, at least actually SERVE some of the food you have listed!

Pros: window seating, people watching

Slow for after work...

by punky21

I went to this bar for the first time yesterday for their happy hour. The place was pretty empty but I'm not sure why. The Happy Hour specials are pretty good and they have a wide selection of not commonly found beers.
I would recommend the after-work crowd discover this place...

Pros: location, happy hour, beer selection

Park Slope's coolest hangout

by sgriest

Every time I walk down Fifth Ave. there's a new bar or cafe to check out, but this is the one I always return to. Yummy sakhurinas & sangria, great atmosphere, super friendly service, and groovy cool peeps to talk to. This is Park Slope's best kept secret.

Pros: inexpensive, great atmosphere, fab drinks

perfect place to chill or party

by ilovepotatoes

the best thing about patio lounge is how far your money will go. happy hours are great but even afterwards, all the delicious beers (like lindemann's raspberry lambic), mixed drinks (try the sakerinha), and food dishes (mmmmediterranean platter) you and your friends order will add up to a totally affordable price. i've taken a bunch of friends there and they all love it too. we've been able to enjoy the hip and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere inside AND the ridiculously warm and comfy outside patio with its giant mushroom-sized heaters! the wknd deejays have been good all four times i've heard them. and the new (i think) soju special on tuesdays is a nice time, too. if you don't know what soju is, go ask the bartender and she'll have a shot with you. then, you will buy your own bottle or two....

Pros: heated back patio, tasty beers & drinks, great prices

Good ole time

by drnorthern

I moved out of the neighborhood so I hadn't been back to Patio Lounge since the summer. They were always so much fun and packed back then but I didnt know what it was going to be like now that the weather had turned cold. Actually, its really nice! They have heaters in the backyard so you can still smoke in comfort and they made the inside real nice and cozy with the same good music and good dj's. And they have trivia nights on mondays! If I had known this sooner... I think I'll be coming back to my old neighborhood from Manhattan a lot more often now...

Pros: friendly, heated backyard, good music

The fun's right here.

by alphacity

I've been to Patio Lounge a good number of times since they've opened and each time, the bartenders were really friendly, which is always nice, and the vibe's been really good. There was also always a new drink or dish to try on (or off) the menu I didn't see before, which is fun. I really like the music there too; no more jukeboxes!

Finally - a place to hang out, meet friends, get drunk, party up, or chill out, all under one funky roof on 5th Ave!

Pros: original decor/garden, nice bartenders, interesting drinks

Great Place, Bad Service

by fortg

We met at the Patio to try a new place. Overall, the drinks, the atmosphere and the other folks were great.

But the bartender was less than friendly and acted as if she were doing us a favor to get us a drink. We went up there multiple times and no amount of smiles or tips could make her any more pleasant. We asked for a cheese plate and she groaned!

Maybe she had a bad night. Maybe it was too crowded and she was overworked.

Pros: Good Prices, Cool Atmosphere, Fun wine Drinks

Cons: Unfriendly Bartender

Playful and smooth...

by granoscar

We first saw the review Patio Lounge got in the Time Out and arranged to meet there for a knight out... we ended up spending most of evening at Patio! - The colorful decoration, good music, excellent wine and beer selection and really nice backyard (they have a waterfall going on there!) really help create a great atmosphere. I've been there three times now and it is equally nice weekdays and weekends, always busy, never crowded. Beautiful Asian waitress by the way...

Pros: Backyard (patio...), Big glass front, Music

Fun Neighborhood Hangout

by technosnob

I went here on a Friday night with a girl friend for a bit of a girl's night out. We really couldn't have picked a better place to start! People at the bar were really friendly and talkative. The white sangria was super yummy (I highly suggest it), and the decor is fabulous. The bartender was attentive - taking glasses away quickly and asking us if we were ready for our next pitcher right as we finished the first. Definitely a nice addition to the neighborhood!

Pros: Cute, Tastey, Friendly
