They've been in business since 1934...that speaks volumes for the quality of this store! They have a great selection, knowledegable staff and really care about what they do.

Pros: Selection, knowledge & passion

Cons: Small space (but hey, it is NYC)

Scotto's Wine Cellar is one of my 2 favorite wine shops in all of Carroll Gardens (Cobble Hill, etc)\r
\r
The oldest & most established shop in the area with a great selection. (in Business for about 25-30 years) From the friendly staff to the very competative pricing it's way up there on my list and is a MUST when shopping along Court Street.\r
\r
If I'm Smith Street I generally go to Vintage Cellars. Also around for a long time (10-12 years)\r
\r
Stay away from NEWBIES like ""Smith & Vine"" They are rude and often tell nasty stories about Scotto's.\r
They forget that people, like me, who grew -up around Carroll Gardens know better. How can a new shop owner (a glorified waiter & would be muscian) have the nerve to say nasty things about well established businesses like Scotto's or Vintage Cellars.\r

Pros: Nice Selection of Mid-range enjoyable wines

Cons: For High End Wines a bit oo expensive - try Vintage on Smith St.

Scotto's is a smallish, well-stocked and friendly shop along busy Court Street. All varieties of wines are stocked, and they are especially strong in Italian red.

The staff is never pushy and always patient about helping undecided customers, like me.

I would recommend this shop to anybody.
