I will certainly agree that the service leaves something to be desired at times, but then again the place was jam packed when I was there. The pene, the chicken, and the bread were all delicious. It's mostly French cuisine, so it's great if that's your thing. I also saw Mandy Moore here--so it's definitely a hot spot.

Overpriced somewhat mediocre food. The service is decent at times but on my last visit trying to flag anyone down for more drinks was nearly impossible. We've seen a bunch of pro athletes and mosel types when eating but when you've lived in the city for as long as I have you are more interested in good eats. You can do worse than Pastis but on the other hand you can do better to.
PROS: celebrities late hours excellent bar drinks
CONS: mediocre service over priced

Pastis is a little past its prime and the service especially during busy times can be spotty at best. That being said much of the food is pretty good, I've developed a fondness for the steak frites. Some people hate this place and some love it, I'm somewhere in the middle, much of what they serve has either been done better or cheaper elsewhere even still they put together a nice meal which when it comes to Bistro food in this town isn't always the case.

This currenty rated number 1 location, lights up the cobble streets in Manhattans Meat Packing District. It is the the place to see and be seen. Always a comfortably busy scene. Typical patrons include various suits and princess pampered woman in coutore.
PROS: Be Seen
CONS: Sometimes the pretinsion is a little overwhelming
