Tan Viet Huong Restaurant Inc

Very good Vietnamese food, in very plain quarters. You go there to eat well and cheaply but not for the ambience. Good place to go if you're hungry--they serve very quickly.

This restaurant is located on Mulberry Street, far away from the crowded bustle that you typically find in Bowery and Canal street, which is a plus. And the interior is quite gorgeous, though it's small. But don't be fooled - my date and I had high expectations while going into this restaurant, but he unfortunately has low tolerance for MSG. While eating one of the beef dishes, he had a reaction and could not finish the rest of his order. The other dishes, apparently, were also slathered in MSG. I did not notice (perhaps I eat MSG too often), but this does say something about the restaurant's ability to cook high quality food if they are so dependent on this flavoring agent.
