This place overcharges and the food is overfried, places sugar in sauces which shouldn't have sugar in them, and misrepresents its spicey dishes as spicey when they were not.My guest and I complained about the portions which were shockingly small and our waiter gave us a condescending response which is unnecessary to repeat.Despite the interior design which is impressive the lunch was an expensive embarrassment.

Pros: interior design

Cons: everything else of a restaurant experience

We planned a birthday celebration at Tse Yang's for our daughter. We had been there several years ago, and thought it was great. But our experience last Thursday night was beyond horrid.
Although the staff assisting at the table were friendly, the head waiter for our group of 11 was rude beyond words. To begin with, he announced over the entire table (in front of our guests) "you know there is a $65 minimum per person for a group this size." We ordered several starters, to be shared amongst the group and when they arrived, he started plating one piece of each item. When I asked that they simply set the dishes out for people to choose what they wanted he glared at me, then snatched the plates off the table and scraped everything back onto the serving platters! The had set the wine on a side board, and whenever we needed to have more wine poured, I had to go find him.
The food was bad - there's no other way to explain it. The only redeeming dish was a salt & pepper shrimp so we asked for a second platter of those. Our mistake, the second platter was too salty to eat. Peking Duck was a joke - cold and poorly prepared. The duck meat presented after the duck wraps tasted like it had been tossed with barbeque sauce. Awful!
Let's sum up - terrible service, bad food and over-priced. The final bill totaled nearly $130 per person!
Never again!

Pros: Beautifully appointed, traditional chinese decor.

Cons: The food, the service, the price

.

Great chinese food for uptown. The prices are three times that of Chinatown, so I'll suggest you just take the trip downtown for good chinese food. But, nonetheless, Tse Yang's good is DELICIOUS. The proportions are small and the prices are expensive. The decor and service are great though.

This is a quaint and interesting place. A friend of mine had extended an invitation, and I am glad I went. Not only was service timely, the food was refreshing and terrific!!
