Act Two Home Staging has worked with Kitchen Express II through Homearama 2009 and 2010 where they designed, supplied products, and installed award -winning kitchens. I recommend Kitchen Express to my home- staging clients because the quality and selection of products is good, the employees are competent and friendly and the prices are competitive. In particular, I have worked on several projects with Suzanne Belcher who is an excellent designer. Dave Allen , the owner, knows his customers and his customers know they can rely on Kitchen Express II.

Kitchen Express II renovated our kitchen when we bought our house. They were more than willing to help us out and even planned the kitchen based on the architect's drawings. They gave us the most function and storage possible in our kitchen, while still making it seem very open. They answered all of our questions and gave us all of the options. \nWhen it was installed we couldn't have been happier. There were a couple of doors that didn't match very well, and they came and changed them out without any problem. \nIt came out great and we are very happy we went with them. So happy in fact, they even did our master bathroom.

My husband and I recently built a new home. It didn't take long for us to become overwhelmed with all of the decisions that needed to be made. With both of us working full time and raising a family, it was almost impossible to find extra time to begin designing our kitchen. And then we walked into Kitchens Express II and met Dave. He worked around our schedule and even came in after hours and on weekends. He calmly watched my husband and I agree and then disagree with almost every choice. He carefully listened to what is most important to us and how we needed the kitchen to function with our lifestyle. I had about a million pictures to show him from magazine cut outs and on-line pics. As I placed all of the pics in front of him and said we like this, but not this and we kind of like this but not so much this....he made notes, created sketches and assured us that he knew just what to do. I have to be honest, he was so calm and poised I wasn't really sure he heard us. \r\n\r\nA few days later, I contacted Dave to see how things were coming along. I told him I was very eager to see what he had come up and requested that he deal with us through email since our schedules were impossible. Within a few minutes, I received a PDF file with his first design. It was very clear that Dave listened to us, understood us, cared about what was important to us and added his own touches without making the design a typical layout. It only took a few revisions to make this kitchen PERFECT! Dave nailed our concept. \r\n\r\nDave worked extensively with our builder and had him move walls and walk ways to accommodate our requests. He cautioned us when he needed to and gave valuable input to help move the process along. Any delay in the process was all mine and my husbands to own, Dave was beyond patient with us. \r\n\r\nAnd after all of this, when we had the final design, we took his design to several very well known kitchen stores and DIY locations in Rochester. They couldn't touch the quality and were off by thousands on the price. \r\n\r\nDave is a stand up guy and a pure pleasure to do business with. I recently stopped in there to pick up hardware that I purchased as a gift (my in-laws saw it in our house and wanted the same thing) and it was like talking to an old friend. Dave was interested in our home, the kids and of course the kitchen. \r\n\r\nWe LOVE our kitchen, it is absolutely beautiful. When friends and family walk in our home their mouths are open and they have to touch the cabinets and countertops. Visitors are drawn to the kitchen for the richness and warmth those Java cabinets present. The colors are perfect compliments to one another. \r\n\r\nWe couldn't have made this possible without Dave and his staff. I honestly had a great experience and would recommend him to anyone. One of these days we will get our act together and post some pics so you can see for yourself. They also designed our master bath and the kids? bath. His designs and suggestions were spot on and we love these spaces. \r\n\r\nGreat quality. Great prices. Most importantly, great people you can trust. I promise.\r\n

Our experience with Kitchen Express II was an important part of a very satisfying kitchen renovation. We were very happy with the help we received from Dave Allerton, the owner and lead designer, and we continue to recommend them to friends without hesitation.\n\nAny kitchen remodeling project has at least three key components: products, design service, and installation. Kitchen Express II provides access to quality products and Dave builds strong relationships with his suppliers. This assures him (and you!) of good service. Dave provided us a detailed design that addressed all of our needs and helped us visualize the finished product.\n\nDave does not employ a crew of installers, but instead builds relationships with independent contractors whom he trusts to carry his jobs to completion. This approach may have its negatives, but for us it was only a positive. Dave introduced us to a contractor that we could trust to give our home the same care and attention I would have if I were doing the work myself: Bob Stowe (stoweconstruction dot com). Bob is a gem! He is friendly, easy to work with, takes pride in his work, and is a patient problem-solver. Even before our kitchen was completed, we began to envision other jobs with which Bob could help us, and we've had him back to our house several times already!\n\nEvery big job has its challenging moments: our old homes are imperfect, and full of surprises. Manufacturers, designers and contractors are all human ...and humans make mistakes. The measure of a man, though, is in how he handles those challenges. Dave and Bob patiently addressed every issue we raised, and when we had a problem with a manufacturer's delivered quality, Dave stood up for us.\n\nThe finished job has been a source of great satisfaction to us. We love to cook, and our kitchen is a gratifying part of our daily lives. If we had it to do over today, we'd certainly start at Kitchen Express II.

My kitchen was supposed to take one week to complete. It took 4 months to reach the point it is at now and after pulling teeth just to get it to this point, it would seem Kitchen Express II has abandoned the idea of having a satisfied customer or properly finishing my kitchen. My contact there began avoiding my phone calls, more so than usual after the problems began. If that doesn't speak of the professionalism of this outfit, I don't know what does. Also, unlike the previous reviewer, my kitchen is VERY simple. There is no reason it should have taken this amount of time other than sheer incompetence and absolutely no attention to detail. The process has been a nightmare and I have received no apology of any sort from Kitchen Express II but I would expect nothing less of them given their track record thus far. \n\nAfter multiple calls on a day that my contact quite obviously refused to answer or call me back (and the person in question WAS in the office), I did finally receive a phone call from the owner claiming he ""couldn't do anything else for me"". I guess it was my fault that his incompetent employee measured incorrectly, ordered the wrong parts THREE times and the installer tried to pass off shoddy and hurried craftsmanship as ""the way it's supposed to be"". Apparently he was doing me a big favor by actually fixing the problems his employees were responsible for. What Kitchen Express II has done for me is give me multiple headaches, a ton of lost time and massive inconvenience for 4 months.\n\nAs I pointed out above, many mistakes were made through-out this debacle with wrong parts being ordered several times, poor measuring which resulted in a less than desirable look and towards the end, sloppy and hurried craftsmanship as the contractor obviously just wanted to finish. My patience has been tried to the point of wanting to explode and I am normally a very laid-back person. I have come to accept some of the slightly less noticeable mistakes in an effort to draw this painful process to a close. Sadly, it is now certain that I will have to live with some of the larger mistakes as well.\n\nNeedless to say, I would avoid Kitchen Express II like the plague for any sort of work in your home unless you're a masochist that enjoys incredibly frustrating, long, drawn-out home remodeling projects that result in a ""mostly ok"" finished project.

Pros: Mostly friendly people

Cons: Massive delays and mistakes made

We hired Kitchen Express II to remodel our kitchen. It is a larger than average sized kitchen and the remodel was extensive with higher end elements. We were told the project would take 4 to 6 weeks. After six months and numerous problems, our kitchen is about 95%complete. Many, but not all, of the problems were due to an independent designer. Because of the project, we were not able to use our garage or our basement gym throughout the winter. We are pleased with the end result, but due to all of the problems, the kitchen had major schedule overruns. The people at Kitchen Express II and the contractor they use are very nice and met with us to review our concerns, but this project and its very slow pace tried our patience to a very large degree.
