I went to Bacchus after a TERRIBLE experience with the optical department head at NY Eye & Ear. They measured me accurately the first time but gave me glasses that were blurry saying my eyes wouldn't adjust to the new measurement. After a week in a blur I went back, tried to get remeasured by an assistant who couldn't care less, e.g. handed me dirty lenses, had missing lens in the test case and would skip to the next one, etc.
I went back to Bacchus who had made the first set of glasses (to the incorrect prescription give ny NY Eye & Ear. Bacchus remeasured my eyes, made glasses to fit the measurement and I've been seeing... and smiling ever since. AND, he didn't charge me extra for the service. I now live in NC and still go back to Bacchus for glasses.
Pros: Excellent quality and service. Doesn't try to "sell" you
Cons: none
I've been going exclusively to Feroz Bacchus for many years because he is a perfectionist and because he is honest and caring. Before discovering Feroz, I got one defective pair of glasses after another. I feel blessed to have found him and will stick with him till he retires.
It sometimes takes extra time for him to make the glasses, but it is SO WORTH IT, because he does it right every single time.
What the previous review said is totally inaccurate. Feroz has never charged me for adjustments and I have repeatedly sat on my glasses or rolled over them.
Pros: perfect eyeglasses every time, Owner very accomodating
Cons: not for those in a hurry
This place is a rip off! I went in to get my eyeglasses tightened...typically a free "good will" service most optical businesses offer. Well, to my chagrin, the doctor helping me gave me an attitude and after tightening my glasses "at my own risk" had the audacity to request $2! The fact that this person charged me $2, gave me attitude and on top of it justified the $2 by saying "it's only fair since I had to turn on my electricity (for a minute or less to do the job!) is not only CHEAP but bad business practice. He definitely lost this customer and I warn all future customers to beware! If this optician is interested in making $2 off someone then imagine what he would do to you if you purchased eyeglasses!!!!
