Not worth it! The food is pretty average (not bad) but the prices are too high. I am not a price sensitive customer - in fact I like to eat at an upscale place which serves good food. This one is an average place, and the wait staff just mills around. Too many waiters doing really nothing! The tables are crowded together, the menu tablet (yes, it is a big wooden tablet!) is too heavy, and table space is so limited that you have to keep holding it in your hand until the waiters come and take it back from you. We wanted to order the crab from the appetizer section, but the waiter told us it is crab from a can. Then he recommended the dahi papri - and after we ordered it from the menu, he brought the same dish to the table next to us and told them it is a complimentary appetizer. Not a great start for our dinner :) The other thing a reader may find useful to know (we wish we knew before going there) is that there is no street parking nearby, and right across from the restaurant is a parking facility that charges $30 an hour. So our two person dinner ended up costing us close to $180 (after you include parking charges for 2.5 hours). For that kind of money, this place is definitely not worth it.

Bukhara Grill honors the flavors and traditions of the North Indian region. The only reason we don't go more often is the pricing but the quality is fantastic.\r\n\r\nVeg appetizers to try: mushrooms, fried veg fritters, and paneer tikka from the clay oven that's not on the menu as a starter but ask for it and they'll make it. The veg seekh kabab was average. Papri Chat gets soggy so it must be eaten immediately. \r\n\r\nNon-Veg appetizers include chicken malai kabab (very soft and delicious), lamb seekh kabab (spiced to perfection). And the sharabi kabab (chicken tikka). \r\n\r\nNOTE - ask for mild seasoning if you're like us and be very specific about how much heat you want otherwise you won't enjoy the food if your mouth is on fire.\r\n\r\nPRICES for starters range from $7-$15.\r\n\r\nThey are able to accommodate special requests. Things like low-sodium or no added salt are difficult for them since many of the sauces are pre-made but they can definitely cater to health-restricted eating plans so ask.\r\n\r\nMain course delights for vegetarians - Grilled Vegetables (healthier option). Dal Bukhara (famous). Yellow Lentil Dal Soup very flavorful but salty. Fried Okra with spices is very unique and tasty - more as an appetizer than a main course. Spinach and mustard greens mixed - not on the menu but it worked. \r\n\r\nFor non-veg, they never disappoint. Try whatever you like or are in the mood for. \r\n\r\nTry the bread basket. Healthier option is Tandoori Roti - ask for no butter. Rice and the raita made with low-fat yogurt, also good to order for the table. Indian food is meant to be eaten family-style so order with that in mind. You can ask for a main course dish to be made into an appetizer portion and vice versa.\r\n\r\nDesserts (if you have any room to eat) - try the Rasgula or rasmalai. Carrot halwa as well. Prices $6-$9.\r\n\r\nCheers to Master Chef Bachan Rawat. He and his team are thoughtful and experienced in the kitchen. When a chef is also a partner in the business, you see the invested interest they have in the restaurant.\r\n\r\nThey serve alcohol and have an average selection of wines. Better than many other Indian places. I might suggest they get a sommelier but afraid that would jack up the prices.\r\n\r\nPRICES for main courses about $14-$25\r\n\r\nBukhara Grill has a typical Punjabi Indian flair which is refreshing. Authentic stoneware plates, copper cups for water, the costumes for the staff. \r\n\r\nSuggestions to Bukhara - create an appetizer platter called Tour of Bukhara for non-veg and veg. Create a family-style meal for $40 per person and include appetizer, main course, bread, rice, dessert. Create a ""light healthy options"" menu for people with dietary concerns. A menu that's flavorful but doesn't use any salt or sugar. I believe your foods are already fresh and healthy so this is just to be MORE accommodating. Maybe sugar-free dessert (carrot halva with splenda).\r\n\r\nThe owners (Raja and Vicky) are always there which helps allow this place to run well. They keep their standards HIGH and maintain them. This is where other Indian restaurants fail. \r\n\r\nTry lunch and you can explore the flavors without the high prices. All-you-can-eat lunch buffet for $17. Take out lunch for $15 (you fill your plate with as much food you can pile on to it). They offer boxed take out lunches for $10-$12. \r\n\r\nThey understand the business of taking care of their customers. Whether you're a big group or a two-person table for dinner, they will be sure to make the experience memorable. From the huge wooden menu, a Bukhara bib that sets the tone - this place is all about food, eating and a good time.\r\nBukhara is on E49th btwn 2nd and 3rd Aves.

Pros: Fresh foods, flavors, vegetarian and non-veg options

Cons: Prices, climb up the stairs to 2nd floor (not easy for all)

I lived on 50th st, and wanted Indian one day so decided to check this place out. Food was amazing - I love Indian food and eat it quite regularly, but I can say this is one of the best I've had. Very ""normal Indian food"", but done really well. I have it a 4 instead of 5 because of the price (just chicken tikka masala - no bread of rice - is $25), which I would expect at a upscale Indian restaurant but this place doesn't have an upscale feel. Also, waiters try to push more food on you, like suggest things as if they are complimentary when they actually cost $. I don't appreciate places or people that try to drive up the bill without the patron's knowledge so that was a huge turnoff (more than the price). But if you're prepared to spend some $ and remember to ask if something they offer is complimentary, then this is the place to go for Indian food

My wife and I met a few of our friends out for dinner and we decided to go for some Indian Food. I had been recommended this place by a few people and wanted to see why they loved this place so much.\r\n\r\nWe left the ordering to the waiter and he definitely did not dissapoint us. We started with a great round of tandoori kababs (absolutely amazing) followed by 3 great chicken dishes, a spicy but very tasty lamb dish. The nans were excellent! \r\n\r\nOverall we were impressed with the restaurant. I also liked the fact that they had a nice beer and full bar selection. I tried a new beer called 1947 Premium Lager, never heard of it before but the waiter said it was a new beer and people liked it so decided to gave it a shot. My friend on the other hand stuck to his black label and soda. Overall a great night.\r\n\r\nDefinitely going back!

This is the first place I ever had Indian food to eat and it won me over. My company held a party in their party room upstairs and they had a great buffet with both veggie and non veggie options. Very nice decor for an Indian restaurant and excellent service.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED BUKHARA GRILL. IT WAS MIND BLOWING AND A GREAT PLACE FOR FAMILY DINNERS. I THOUGHT THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN NY. THE DECOR WAS GREAT, THE SERVICE WAS AWESOME, AND THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC. EVERY WEEKEND WE COME HERE TO ENJOY THE DELICIOUS MOUTHWATERING FOOD. THE FOOD WAS FRESHLY MADE AND YOU COULD WATCH THE CHEFS COOK THROUGH A GLASS WINDOW. THE WATERFALL IN THE BACK WAS NICE AND THE WOODEN CHAIRS MADE IT EVEN BETTER. THE TERRACE UPSTAIRS WAS GREAT AND A NICE PLACE TO HAVE FOOD THERE ON A NICE DAY. THERE WAS A PRIVATE PARTY ROOM. IT REMINDED ME BEING BACK HOME IN INDIA. THE SPICES WERE RICH IN FLAVOR AND THE BAR AND SERVICE WERE TREMENDOUS. LAST TIME I WENT THERE WAS A CELEBRITY HAVING DINNER THERE. THEY HAD A SPECIAL DISH CALLED DAL BUKHARA THAT WAS TASTEFUL AND MOUTHWATERING JUST HOW IT LOOKED AND TASTED. THIS RESTAURANT WAS OUTSTANDING, MIND BLOWING, AND TREMENDOUS RESTAURANT EVER!!! GO BUKHARA AND I HOPE THAT HIS RESTAURANT STAYS FOR CENTURIES!!!!! WWWoOOOwWWW!\r\n

Watch out when you look at the menu prices. When the check comes and you ask why everything is so much more expensive, well, the menu's have the ""old prices."" What? Yes, the menu at the entrance and the menu that you'll order from has the ""old prices."" They won't budge and they will try to intimidate you if you argue with them. I eat out *all the time* and I can't ever remember being told after my meal that I'd been looking at ""old menu prices,"" surprise! Not cool! The food really isn't that good, there are much better Indian restaurants in New York City and there are certainly much more honest and ethical establishments.\r\n

Cons: dishonest business practices

Overpriced. The food was good, but nothing special. I can only assume from the neighborhood that this place is a tourist trap. There's not much else to say. The place was clean and the service was okay, but I expect these things at any place I eat. \r\n\r\nChicken in a curry sauce with basmati rice should not cost more than $30. At $15, I would say the food is good. At $32 I wondered if this chicken was fed caviar and foie gras in a suite at the Waldorf before it was butchered and prepared.\r\n\r\nIndian food is great and there is a good amount of fun, trendy and delicious places to eat it in the city. I would not recommend this one.

Pros: 1)I like Indian food 2)Country bear jamboree style menu's remind me of fond days at Chuck-E-Cheese

Cons: Too expensive, not romantic, not special, bib's (go there and you'll see)

I love Indian food, but this place is without a doubt NOT worth its money. The entree prices seem okay (although pricy for Indian food), but you'll get charged an additional $7 for rice with some frozen peas in it, and $5 for some bread. If you ask for a beer, you'll immediately get a large one, and be charged another $11. \r\nThe service was decent, but not very friendly at all (why would they be, they're focused on tourists that come here once in their lifetime). \r\nI am afraid most of the positive reviews on this website are not from actual customers- way too flat out positive and just not accurate. Seriously, I ended up paying $55 for some chicken with rice and a beer. Are you serious!? \r\n

This place has fantastice Indian food. The food is authentic and good. Drinks are okay, the garlic naan is excellent and comes out about 3X what a normal portion would be. The chicken Masala and Chicken vindaloo are great. Lamb varieties I wasn't as crazy about but then again I'm not that crazy about lamb. Everything fromt he waiter's garb to the copper cups scream authenticity and I love this place. The only thing is, do not sit in the front of the rest in the winter unless you would like to be a frozen over icicle.

Bukhara Grill ( Indian Spice Rave) i have been dining at Bukhara for the past 5 years. Everything at BG is the best. I love the look of Bukhara, the wood look is beautiful. The service at Bukhara grill is very good and very helpful. The place is always packed but we always have great fast service. The food at Bukhara is to die for as it is just mouthwattering great. All the kababs and currie dishes are just awsome. I love eating the jumbo shrimps, mushrooms, and the lambchops. for dinner i love chicken makhani, dal bukhara, daibhangan, chicken vindaloo and much much more. Last year we had Bukhara grill cater my sisters wedding, The catering made the party as all our guest loved the food. Bukhara had many cusines at her wedding including Italian, Middle-Eastern, Chinese, and of course Indian. basically to me Bukhara grill is the best indian food out there. make reservations no matter what day you plan on going as they are always packed. and if you get sometime take pictures by the waterfall.

Bukhara Grill is truly the Indian Spice Rave. Bukhara Grill is on of the most beautiful Indian Restaurant I have dined at. The wood decor is beautiful. A bunch of us went last week on Friday and it was packed. I would sugest making reservations. We did not make reservations and had to wait for a while but the hostess let us sit at the waterfall seating where we enjoyed some nice drinks. The waterfall seating was amazing as we took many pictures by it. We were taken up to the main dining room, the place was still paced. Our Waiter was very nice and helped us choose our apps. We orderd Hariyali chicken, mushrooms, mal mal kabab , Tandoori Shrimps, and lambchops all of them were verrry verrry goood so authentic. The Main Course was amazing as well as we had Chicken Makhani, Lamb Vindaloo,Kadai Paneer ,Kurkuri Bhindi and the famous Dal Bukhara along with bread. Everything was just awsome. the best indian food i have had. The Staff was very nice as the manager checked up on us and welcomed us and made us feel at home. I reccomened Bukhara Grill To Everyone as it truly is the most authentic Indian in the TriState

I had tried their lunch buffet a while ago & thought maybe this is a better place for dinner. because at lunch the quality of food was too poor, just because buffet is cheap, its not right to cut down on the quality completely, everything, all the curries, tasted so similar to me, it looked like it was the same orange red sauce that was used for the vegetables or for the meat, the breads took forever to come, after requesting for three times, thats absolutely rude, seems like they are trying to be everything, now I dont understand why on earth are they trying to make dosas & they were terrible? when its not their domain,\r\n If i want idli dosas, I'd go to a south indian place not to bukhara? I feel that this restaurant gets a little too much blind praise then it actually deserves, I found the food very ordinary & at outrageous prices at dinner, their rude service and stuffy ambiance has just put me off for good.\r\n I hate to share bad experiences, but I dont want others to be fooled by these (gotta be fake) 'good' reviews, because I have been fooled by them. We had one of our worst dinners over here, and paid way too much. Lesson learnt.

First, my creds: My family is North Indian, and though I was never much for Indian food as a kid (maybe a result of my British-born mother's terrible cooking skills), but in the past 10 or so years, I've really grown to appreciate all kinds of Indian food, and I eat it at least once a week.\r\n\r\nThat being said, here is my review: The food at Bukhara is super tasty. I've been the the city location, and I was recently at the Yonkers location. I've only been for the lunch buffets, but both were equally yummy. There were something like 16 dishes (including 2 desserts, which is vitally important for me when eating at a buffet). They also bring us a bread basket of Naan and a masala dosa without our even asking. Sometimes they are a little over-attentive, but it sure beats being ignored. The food is delicious and ""spicy"" but not incredibly hot. There are usually a couple of dishes that remind me of my grandmother's cooking, which validates the authenticity of the food for me. The dessert leaves something to be desired, but to be fair, it can be pretty time-consuming to make a lot of those desserts. Costwise, the buffet is a dollar or two less in Yonkers ($9.95 weekdays/11.95 weekends), but either one is worth it.\r\n\r\nOh, and let's not forget: cloth napkins!

Cons: Desserts

Courteous staff attends to all requests and provides more than average service. With prompt bar service, food was moderately spicy and delicious [Close to authentic Indian taste].\r\n

Well this was the first time i went to Bukhara Grill, Ive been working in nyc for years and always heard my indian friends talking about it. So we all went to bukhara 10 days ago. The place was awsome never saw an indian place like this. I really liked the interior decoration with the wood furniture. We were greated by the hostess who was very sweet and took us up to the main dining room. The Place was packed( They Made Reservations so we were good) Our waiter was very down to earth person and helped me make decisions. The Apps were very good we had a chicken haryali , cottage cheese, mushroom, lamb chops Tandoori Shrimps , and they all were simply delicious, very tender and juicy. Main course we had tikka masala chicken, the lentils (Daal Bukhara i belive), okra, and lamb curry and breads. The food was just great i had a great time. The owners knew my friends so they especially came to meet us and ask if everything was fine. I told them it was my first time and i loved it.

This place is nothing like the original in India. The kebabs were so bland and were served at room temperature (very dry), in addition the Bukhara Daal was nothing like the one India. The decor was the same and the service was good. But the food was nothing like the original??.I wonder who?s running this place. Many better options in the neighborhood.

Ok with so many good reviews here i decided to dine at ukhara grill. These reviews however were not of any help. The food is rediculous, the service (even though the place was empty on a friday evening) was slow as hell. I wonder if bukhara grill is paying people to leave them theses reviews.\r\n\r\nWe started our dinner with 2 appetizers.\r\nSubz Seekh Kabab \r\nDahi Aloo Papri \r\n\r\nThe Dahi Aloo Papri was sogy and tasted like it was made 5 days ago and put in a plate and served. 0 for presentation to the chef.\r\n\r\nThen we ordered Coke which the Server spilled on my girlfriend. Wow thats a 10er for service?\r\n\r\nFor main corse we ordered Bukhara Daal (wich is rated here as soo good) was over cooked and felt like stones.\r\n\r\nI dont wana get into anything else. If you go to this place it is a waste of money and time. Definatelyy not recomended. Never gona go eat here even if it was complimentary.

This restaurant is quite expensive for Indian food, but not too expensive for a nice restaurant in midtown, and a nice restaurant it is. The decor is wonderful. The service is generally attentive though at times a little intrusive. The food (lamb) is quite good, though it did not present the mind-blowing experience that I expected after reading some reviews. Overall, I would go back, but not at the expense of passing up another nice Indian restaurant, which I haven't tried yet.

Bukhara Grill this is my favorite place to dine in all of N.Y.C. The place is just so beautiful with the wooden look. The quote said by -Bob Lape, WCBS News Radio 88 ""Bukhara Grill and its staff cry out to be loved. There is much to like."" The quote is 100% true, The Staff is vey very nice and are always doing the best job. The food is simply mouthwatering Dal Bukhara, Chicken Makhani, Fish tikka, Lambchops and everything else. The Owners were very nice as they both personally came at different times to greet us and take care of any needs. They also told me about their other places in Parsippany New Jersy and Yonkers.(gotta check them out sometime maybe soon) I have been going to Bukhara grill in the city for many many years and never had a problem. The food, Service, and entire Atmosphere is just Awsome\r\n\r\n-Ankush S

bukhara grill is an awesome restaurant. it is my favorite and truely the best restaurant in New York. from the moment you enter till the moment you leave you are treated with luxury. The food is excellent. My entire family loves it. We have used BUkhara Grill for many caterings now and never have we seen such better service. The food is delicious. Taste just like a famous cuisine in India. The staff is very nice. They treat you like royalties. BUkhara is known for their DAL BUKHARA. There is no place where you will ever get better dal. \r\nBUkhara Grill owns 2 other wonderful restaurants. They have one in YONKERS and one in PARSIPANY. Yonkers is a nice friendly banquet place. I have never attended a party in YONKERS but i have seen a couple of videos and the crowd seemed they were enjoying everything. IN parsipany they have a BUkhara Express. In this restaurant a wide array of dishes are present. Along with North Indian, customers can enjoy south indian, indian chinese, jhatpat, chats, mithai, and much more. The staff here is excellent as well. If i can recall correctly it was Mr. Akshay Jhanjee, who reccomended me wonderful dishes. I ordered the dishes and they were mouthwatering. He is an excellent employee im glad bukhara has him. \r\nOverall BUkhara doesn't make any wrong decisions. THey hire the best employees and chefs, they make the best food and they give you the best service! Go to BUKHARA and enjoy a WONDERFUL Indian meal!\r\nP.S. - Make sure you eat Appetizers, Main Course and DESSERT!

Cons: its in the city.. parking is difficult.

I truely think its extremely overrated. The service is really sad, ambiance outdated, food that we ordered was very oily & ordinary & the pirces were OUTRAGEOUS! They are resting on the laurels of Original Bukhara's, which is in delhi, from where they have copied each & every thing, when actually they have no connection with the original one.\r\n I would never go or take my family or my naive american friends back, because they really think its the same bukhara from delhi, & trust me, Its not the same.. Not even close to it.

Yes it's more money than you'll ever spend on Indian \r\nfood in your life, but it's better than all the Indian \r\nfood that I've ever tried outside my mother's own \r\nkitchen. I live forty blocks from the restaurant and \r\npay an extra twenty dollars every time I order, just \r\nfor the delivery guy's cab. WORTH IT. Here is what I \r\norder when I'm feeding four people: Bread Basket \r\n(three types of bread), Kadai Cholley, any Paneer \r\ndish, Kurkuri Bhindi is GENIUS, Chicken Makhani, \r\nCritics rave about the Dal Bukhara (it's a little \r\ncreamy for my taste), Plus a Garden Salad and some \r\nRaita, SKIP the Potli Samosa - the crust is good but \r\nthe filling is too mushy, SKIP the Tandoori Shrimp \r\nappetizer - the shrimp is dry and rubbery.

Fantastic food and I grew up with this stuff. The restaurant is nice, good decor, and good service. While you can get a decent meal in the Lex area too, this is a restaurant you can take family, friends, boss, and clients too.

For being number 1, this place has alot of work to do in order to truly earn its ""so called"" reputation. Waiters tend to forget drinks completely, food portions are so tiny, two people have trouble sharing one entree. That is a problem since we paid about 20 bucks a dish, and had to order 5 dishes to get a decent taste. This place has good potential, but needs a significant amount of work before we can justify spending that much money on indian food you can get everywhere else.

Bukhara Grill lives up to its name as the the Indian Spice rave. \r\nit now has three locations the first one in NYC, and now Yonkers and also New Jersey. i have had all three and all were very good.\r\n\r\nNew York City- i have been going here for about 4 years and i just love it. The location , food and the service. The uniform on the waiters is just as nice as they are as they always are smiling and helping. My favorite dishes are mal mal kabab, haryali chicken, DaL Bukhara and everything. Awsome place and owners are very nice always working and making Bukhara a friendly enviroment.\r\n\r\nNew Jersey- My Parents live in Jersey so i was there last week and drove by the new Bukhara. So i picked up my parents and sister and we went here for dinner. Its a different type of Bukhara. its more of an express sit in and take out. The colors were very nice and bright. We get to watch B4U as we were eating. This also has Indian Chines, South indian and north indian. So now evertime i got to Jersey i can have bukhara as well.\r\n\r\nYonkers- I actully havent ate in the restarant. I went to a party in the hall. the hall was beautiful and the restaurant was being renovated to give the Bukhara look. the party was awsome and so was the food. i will deff have to go here for a proper sit down soon.

It's not the cheapest of places, but the food is fantastic. The food bursts with flavor and the spicy dishes are really hot the way they are supposed to be. They also get points for excelling at the small things, like the breads, the rice and samosas: these are among the best samosas I've ever head.

Pros: Food, atmoshpere, service

I love love love this place. It is the only restaurant that I miss now that I live on the West side. I have even paid an extra $10 just to get them to deliver to me now!! It is the best priced, best tasting Indian food that I have tried in the City. I dream about the Dal Bukhara. The service is always very attentive and, when I lived over there, they knew me well and would make the dishes the way I liked them. Definitely worth a try because you will go again and again.

Only Indian that charges astromically for the basics that are sually inclided free with the meal...like yogurt! Major nickling and diming going-on. The brunch is not the same\n:-( No array of desserts. Besides, they used to be much more accommodating when I used to request a jalebi paratha instad of a plain naan as part of the brunch price. Where's your spirit Bukhara?!\nAlso, BUT PLEASE USE LESS OIL IN YOUR GRAVY DISHES!!

Omigod great. 100% North Indian (not Central Asian despite the name). The lamb chop (Adrak Ki Chaamp) and the ""Dal Bukhara"" lentils - best best best in the world. Service people seem to be mainly from Nepal and they are ultra-sweet pleasant guys. The owners are also around, two guys who actually worked at the original Bukhara Grill in New Delhi and both very sweet too. I think the chef is also an owner and it shows. The White House ordered its Devali (indian holiday celebration) dinner food from here - the owners told me they took all the food all the way from NYC!

Pros: Food, Service, Outdoor Dining!

I took a friend visiting from India here, he'd never been to the states and missed Indian food a lot. He loved this place, so it must be authentic :). I did too, despite not having the authenticity to compare it to. The service is wonderful, there's a beautiful back balcony that's wonderful in the summer and spring, and the food can't be beat. It is rather spicy, though, so ask for low spices if you're wary of that.

The Buchara Grill takes a different approach to Indian Cuisine. The decor and setting felt as if you stepped out of NYC and into India. The shrimp is amazing; the chicken is incredibly flavorful and spicy; the naan was delicious. \n
