I would give this place zero stars if I could. Absolutely awful in every way. I booked a private room for a bachelorette party for one of my girlfriends. I spoke with the booking agent twice to confirm that we could hire a dancer/stripper

I think I will never come back here no more. Actually, I used to be a regular over here until last year, for those song collections but mostly people used to work here. don't know but now all the employees I loved are gone, and now new people "Miss short-tempered and Mr. I don't know and so" always pixx me off. What happen to sing sing?? I'm so sad that I lost one of my favorite places. bye Sing Sing, You say "Singing heal the world"? huh, you ain't heal nothin'!!!

Last saturday I went to a party at sing sing and it's nothing like what is being said. The service was good and I could understand everyone. The prices were fair and the drinks were delicious. Sometimes people have different experiences with situations. We had two rooms downstairs and we all had a great time. The people who work there seemed to be really nice. Listen we had a great time you will too!!!! Everyone has their own opinion which they are entitled to but don't go by what other people say. See for yourself !!!!!!!!

Last Friday, I had a birthday party at sing sing. When we had a room, I felt that something is so different. We used to come this place a lot and I had few friends used to work here but I didn't see any of them.
We tried to order drinks more then 4 times but no one took our order!!.. After 20 minutes or so, we all got so frustrated and one of our friends got so angry and spoke to the lady at the reception. "use the phone!!" she said..... "use the phone!!!" she just kept saying to use the phone. I got so frustrated and told her that none of them took our orders. (plus they don't speak f**king english)
It's so ridiculous!!!! No one is coming to take orders, that's why I'm asking you mother f**ker!!!
When I looked at the Bar, I didn't know any of the bartenders... "what is going on this place??"
I remember that all the staff used to be so kind ,friendly and also they serve so quickly!!! but nobody is working anymore.... I'm so sad that they are not here anymore.
Where are the professionals??
Looks like SingSing karaoke is on STRIKE!!!

THEY DO NOT.....REPEAT! DO NOT keep track of when you come in and leave when you have a private room......so you will end up paying the same amount of hours as your friends. We checked in later, and they kept no record. They are crooks. The other reviews below me are pretty much right on.

Pros: Great song list.

Cons: Everything else

Sing sing was the biggest disappointment, I have ever encountered. First they show us back to our "karaoke room", which was much more like a dirty closet, then barely explained anything and left. Although they have a great selection of songs, their customer service, prices, and accomodations are awful. They add 18% gratuity to your full bill. And when I say full bill the gratuity includes any drinks you have as well as a 18% gratuity on the room you have already paid $24+ dollars for. I dont remember any other place you pay a gratuity on the room. Numerous times we had to find staff members and ask for them to come take drink orders. The rooms were terribly hot, and had chipped walls, with multiple holes everywhere. Almost every 5 minutes there was someone staring us down through the small window in our door. It felt like we were in quarantine. They may make it seem as though you are catching a great deal. However, the only thing you may catch, is a staph infection

I walked into this joint on a Monday night about 7pm. This is a quite day and time at most nightclubs, bars, etc.
The chalkboard outside said $7 per person, per hour. When I went inside the very unfriendly employee said it was $8 pp, per hr. I mentioned the sign; he said "Oh that has to be changed". Did I mention the sign was a CHALKBOARD!!!!??? Rather than allow me the $7 rate, he insisted on $8. Ok, so a buck won't destroy me, but still, even supermarkets and department stores will allow the posted price even if it's incorrect. I didn't mind that this place was a dive, but the service was totally lacking. I wasn't sure if it was waiter service or do I get my own drinks at the bar (like Duet 35). I got one drink served to me and my date and asked if they had snacks. He said he has chips and brought a small plate of potato chips (more about this later). The song list was pretty good but some songs had the vocal tracks and nobody there knew how to cut the lead vocals off (I asked to employees). After 3 hours it was time to check out. The charge for the potato chips was $5.00!!!!! I was shocked and thought it was overpriced. He knocked off $2.00 while the pseudo intimidating bouncer stood a bit too close. I wasn't throwing a fit or anything like a violent tantrum, but on a slow day the bouncer had nothing better to do but to look tough.

I've been to karaoke bars/boxes in many cities in many countries but as sh*t holes go, this takes the cake. Being Asian myself, I find that they usually have the best services, but nooooooooooooo!
There are so many better choices in NYC than this dive!

Where to start? The idea of Sing-Sing is good: a place where you can sing out at the bar or get a private room. But once you enter the private room, it all goes downhill. There is a phone in each room that allows you to call right to the bar and order drinks. Great. However, when drinks arrive, there are more than you order. Sure, they don't go to waste, but they add up very quickly. When we went to check out, we were smacked with an outrageous bill that was supposedly itemized, but actually made no sense. While debating the charges, I took out a pen and re-wrote the bill. In the end we were charged nearly $500 for a room that was used by 5 people for 3.5 hours. This was the most ridiculous place I have gone to. There are MUCH better karaoke places out there in the city.

Sing Sing has done the impossible. They achieved the trifecta of lameness.

I went there about a month ago on the recommendation of a friend. Some friend. First of all, it was barely 5 PM in the afternoon and there were two bouncers all dressed in black at the door. I thought, ok, maybe this place is awesome looking and packed on the inside. Nope, you walk in and it's a small dingy cramped bar and a big screen. Strike one.

I asked the bartender for a drink and she had a very hard-time understanding me. What did I order? Vodka with cranberry on the rocks. What did I get? Cranberry on one rock. Strike two.

I saw a sign indicating a $2.00/song fee. Strike three. I left and this all occured in the span of about 3 minutes.

Sing Sing is to karaoke as The Mets are to baseball.

Service can vary at this place as my experiences have been both subpar and spectacular. If you can belt out a few tunes, then this is the place to do it as they have a quality sound system and decent equipment. Prices are $8 a head, but this can really add up if you're there for a few hours.

When the night is not so young anymore and you need an outlet for your musical energy, Sing sing is the place to go. You get your own room which ranges in size from tiny (about as wide as a sofa) to fairly big (about the size of your east village bedroom). I've been numerous times for birthdays and other celebrations and have had no problem with the service. Drinks are reasonably priced and very convenient since the waitstaff delivers to your private room.

The biggest problem I've encountered is people leaving before settling the bill, leaving others to pony up more than their share. For that reason, I'd recommend that you have everyone in your group pitch in $20-$30 at the start of the night and have the true night owls settle up the difference at the very end of the evening. Consider that's what my group generally spends with a whole lot of drinks included.

Although i think the max per room is nominally 12, I've often squeezed a few more than that without any logistical problems.

This place is great for a small group date, a large birthday party, or about any other combination of people who like to either sing or watch their friends sing and drink. For the lovebirds, the extra privacy the rooms offer makes a little cuddling A-OK.

I've been going to Sing Sing for a few years and can't get over how rude the service is. They have horribly obnoxious bouncers who actually physically accosted one of my friends the last time we were there because she was complaining about their behavior. I would never patronize Sing Sing again. Muse and Karaoke 17 have far superior service as does Ibop Karoake. I have a feeling they are all owned by the same management, but even so, the others do not have the rude bouncers. I have never been treated so poorly in new york, particlularly when paying an arm and a leg to sing a few songs. I would never recommend Sing Sing to anyone who does not want extremely rude service.

where do i start with how horrendous this place is? first of all they're massively overpriced. secondly the bartenders do not speak a word of English (besides brands of liquor and beer) and GOD FORBID you ask when your song is up. They pull out a wad of song slips and wave them in your face. Gee, anyone else think that's obscenely rude for a place that specializes in karaoke? WHY WHY WHY do people go to this place? There is another karaoke place with no attitude at all just up avenue A... or one on 2nd and 2nd... please folks, do yourself a favor and DON'T GO HERE.

Having First Patronized The Establishment During A Rest Stop In 2002, It Is Now On Our List Of Recommended Destinations. We Frequent The Bar In Spurts (3-4 Evenings A Week During A Given Month) And Agree With Reviewers Who Note A Dramatic Change In Status After Becoming Regulars. Two Of Our Experiences: An Employee And I Began A Conversation About Music, Which Led To Discovering Our Mutual College Majors. A Doorman/Bouncer Began To Part Crowds Upon Our Entrances/Exits - Flattering Yet A Bit Embarrassing. While Conversely Questioning How You Can Fault A Venue For Favoring Well-Mannered, Friendly Patrons Who Generously Assist In Maintaining Its Income Over Those Who Place Short Orders During Equally Short Stays, Leaving Behind Stacks Too Short To Be Categorized As Tips. There Is Also No Mention Of The Complimentary Song That Is Served With Every Third Drink.

My 2 girlfriends had been raving about Sing Sing for so long. Last night, we showed up at 2am and there was no wait, we got a room (oh yes, they give you your OWN ROOM, with microphones, a huge TV and 15,000 song book) and this hands down is the most fun place I have been to in the city! We didn't leave until 4:30, sang out TAILS and had the best time. Definetly go and bring your friends, even as a late night option! Bring a song though because its definitely overwhelming! BEST PLACE EVER!

Karaoke should be about having a good time, but the imposing bouncers and rude staff keep me away. Most karaoke places let you BYOB - Sing Sing searches your bags the moment you walk in. Very discouraging and annoying way to start the evening. Song selection is okay - similar to Village Karaoke, but I'd rather trek over to Village Karaoke for their lenient staff and more comfortable atmosphere, even if VK tends to have a wait on weekend nights.

I have no idea why anyone would pay to sing karaoke. There are plenty of places in the city that you don't pay to sing, this is just ridiculous. I would not recommend this to anyone if you want to sing karaoke.

OK the altmoshpere is alittle dingy and the service is just OK but they have the biggest selection of songs and it's casual atmosphere makes it the perfect place to go with a group of friends to sing karoake.

This is one of my favorite things to do with a group of 6-8 people....
