Just called the bakery to see if they ship their amazing flat bread... unfortunately they don't. Columbus Bakery is well known by all that have walked through those doors.... what great memories !!! I've never eaten a better bread ! Now I'll be thinking about great bread for days...... I'd drive hrs. to get their bread but I now live in Virginia, they don't know much about bread down here. okay, now I want my own Columbus bakery !!

I grew up on Columbus Bakery Italian bread. It is the VERY BEST bread I have EVER had! I miss it now that I live in Louisville, KY and wish that I could get it sent to me.

Why do all of you New York people talk obsessively about bread all the time? Oh, and before you respond, I know...its the water! Ooof...I lived with three New Yorkers that talked about bread and sauce once every three days. Two words, Sweet Tea!

Syracuse is unique in it's cuisine creativity. My daughter wants me to send her Columbus Bakery Bread for her birthday, July 20th. There is none that matches this bread. She lives in the San Diego area. I just have to figure how I can send it to her & keep it fresh.
My own memory; My plan was to have some Columbus Bakery bread for dinner. On the cold wintery afternoon, I walked from Columbus Bakery,on the north side of Syracuse, to my downtown job. I stuffed the warm loaf of bread, inside my jacket. It smelled so good, the delicious bread was gone before I got to my destination. Yum!

My best friend Nick and I would drive from Brewerton NY to the bakery, buy a loaf of warm bread and a pound of butter, and before we got home it was gone. That was 51 years ago.

Ever since I was a little girl our family tradition has always been going to Columbus Bakery on Saturdays for bread. This is the best Italian bread you will ever have! I live an hour away from the bakery and I make frequent trips to get this bread that has been a source of many wonderful family memories. The trick is to eat it with real butter because to do anything less is sinful. We always ate at least two loaves of flat bread in the car on our way back home. It doesn't get any better than Columbus bread!

the very best in Syracuse. I have been away for most of 52 years from there and when I visit,my # 1 place is Columbus bakery. They are always glad to see you and go out of there way to help you. I have even called them just before my flight and they have opened up so I could get bread to bring back to Texas with me. Even at relatives homes they know my favorite is Columbus
PROS: all
CONS: there are none

I'd have to agree with another reviewer, buy extra loaves for the ride home and some for your truly loved ones. This bakery and it's bread is like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I hail from Binghamton--an hour south--but anytime I go to Syracuse, or a friend goes, there are always a few aromatic loaves gracing the cars interior while the absolutely delicious bread fills your belly. My family and friends always smile when seeing me walk up with their favorite white paper bag.

I was born and raised in East Syracuse and moved to Michigan. When we are home we never leave without a trip to Columbus Bakery. We even take loaves home. We love the flats for sandwiches or just with butter and loaves are good to and they will slice them for you if you ask. They are the best that I have ever encountered.

This shop is a small little shop that looks kind of run down and once inside there is no ambience or pretense at all. Just a big oven, a small little bench and an old cash register. However, you don't go to this place for the ambience. You go for the amazing bread! They don't have any thing besides italian bread, but anyone who has this bread says it is the best that they have had. Crusty on the outside and soft on the inside.

A VERY SMALL FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS THAT STILL USES THE OLD BRICK OVENS! JUST GOING IN TO SEE THE OPERATION IS A GREAT TREAT! THE ITALIAN BREAD IS THE BEST AROUND AND ALWAYS SUPER FRESH, WAM AND YUMMY!!!
BE SURE TO BUY AN EXTRA LOAF OR A LOAF OF FLAT BREAD FOR THE RIDE HOME, SINCE THE SMELL OF THE FRESH BREAD WILL DEFINATELY GET TO YOU ;-)
