I have been trying for over 3 weeks to fill a medicare prescription for a walker for a family member. First time: my family member was "not in their computer." Second time: (new prescription, different doctor) no record of my family member

I have been trying for over 3 weeks to fill a medicare prescription for a walker for a family member. First time: my family member was "not in their computer." Second time: (new prescription, different doctor) no record of my family member

Yesterday, mid-day, I visited Fonte Surgical Supply, as a follow up to their display at a local health fair. They carried a brand of support stockings I need. My previous supplier, closer to home, had retired from business. Because I no longer have this local resource, I had to travel for nearly an hour to get to the place, arriving at 12:15. At the health fair they had said to arrive in the AM. Upon arriving (I didn't have to wait) they told me I had to be there by 11 AM to be measured for a stocking that I have worn the same size for about 35 yrs - longer than the clerk was old! (I had been re-measured 7 yrs ago to check and once you are measured by a supplier, then they will fill that same size for 20 yrs + without re-measuring!)
I had the box with me, all she had to do was go and get the stockings. But no, I had to be re-measured BEFORE 11 AM. It didn't make any difference that it was only an hour later, that I had driven from 40+ miles away, that it was next to impossible for me to get to this place much earlier in the day due to schedules. It may be preferable to measure earlier in the day, but I have never encountered this absolute "rule" before. She could have measured me to check with the previous size, and if it was greatly different, dealt with that. They obviously don't care to accommodate a customer with an exception to their arbitrary, inflexible policy. A waste of gas money and time!
I have since found numerous suppliers on the internet, that not only will ship at no cost, but charge 30% less for the stockings. And local merchants wonder why they are loosing business to the Web? Unfortunately, these very expensive medical stockings are not covered by my insurance (the first thing they wanted to know) so I have to pay for them - one shouldn't pay for stockings that come with rude service too!

I've been getting supplies from this place for a long time. They have a great staff and always seem to have what you need in stock. The only problem is that I depend on delivery and since this store has moved and expanded it has gotten horrible with it's delivery service. Now it's a two day wait if they remember to even fill your item. I think their growth to take on more clients has horribly back fired. So if you don't depend on delivery or don't mind long lines this would be a place for you

CONS: slow delivery and long lines
