People, especially of my decent often wonder why their people don't support them, and would rather uplift other cultures and find it more pleasing to spend their money in other places when really and truly it doesn't take rocket science. I've lived in The Flatbush area for almost 10yrs and have been to Footprints about six times. Every single time the service has sucked! Inconsistent cold food with the worst service! Go figure for unreasonably priced menu for the quality your getting. Not even the manager can handle customer care issues professionally. I work in the neighborhood of the Clarendon location and just placed an order of grilled shrimp salad and a Curry Chicken lunch special in which they gave me a delivery time of 1hr. Understandable... i'm not the only patron ordering... however as i'm typing this its now 1hr and 10min. I just called to find out what's the hold up.. and i get a rude female with unnecessary attitude telling me come and get it if i'm not far cause she told me it would be an hour. If she could be that rude to me how many others does she give the same stink attitude. So a staff member goes to pick it up and the salad comes back without the dressing! Now i'm sure she really doesn't give a crap how disgusting she sounds cause she's collecting her paycheck anyway... but why should I spend my money there again??? Why do you want to have a business in the community of your peers and give them shitty service! Where do they do that??? Not the restaurants i will be spending my money in from now on! Sad to say... but Williamsburg here i come! All that place is, is a spot to hang out when you are at your Last Resort!!!
Sickening!

My husband wanted to get us something nice for take out on mother's day so he suggested Footprints. When we arrived of course it was crowded but we placed our order and were told that it would take 45 minutes. In reality it took an hour & 1/2.

When we finally got our order it was not correct, they gave me shrimp instead of jerk wings. When I pointed out that they made a mistake, my receipt said jerk wings so it was clearly their mistake, they said I would have to wait for them to put the order in & get it in an hour or they could give me a store credit but wouldn't refund my money....

WHAT!!!! This was Footprints' mistake and they can't refund my money or rush my order to correct it? I have never heard anything so absurd in my life!!!! Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

The food is amazing, the atmosphere is wonderful. Must say I really enjoyed the food most of all. Throughout this whole enjoyful experience, one person stood out and if I am not mistaken I think her name is Melinda...excellent customer service skills. She definitely made my experience at footprints a little more enjoyable. Will definitely visit again very soon.

Footprints is one of the finest restaurants in Brooklyn! My co-workers and I are Key Span employees and every Friday faithfully for the past 4 yrs we go to footprints for dinner and drinks!!! The food at this place is divine, especially their signature dish "Rasta Pasta"! Out of this world!!! Its a mature place which is what attracted us, we are all over 35, and grew tired of the club scene! Its a wholesome family restaurant with the music and sounds of a night club which was a genius combo! We always unwind from the work week there and the staff is always very professional and accommodating! We even have a spacial bartender that knows our drinks and orders by heart, which makes us feel noticed and appreciated! I would recommend this place to anyone! Large groups or couples looking for an intimate setting! Its the best place in Brooklyn!!! Footprints cafe is the place to be! Definite thumbs up!!!!

I visited NY 2 weeks ago from Phenoix and was invited to meet an old friend at this establishment for dinner and drinks! "Nice West Indian Restaurant" he said as I rolled my eyes, after visiting 2 or 3 shabby looking "mom's and pops" Jamaican restaurants in the Flatbush area that week, but never the less, I agreed after all, Its been almost a yr since I last saw him, I thought to myself! As I walked into the door, I was really impressed with the setting and scenery, I was expecting another "lil shop" of a place, but instead I was pleasantly surprised because here was this gem in the midst of east Flatbush! A west indian spot with all the fine dining qualities that I needed! It was a Wednesday night, only around 9pm yet there seemed to have been standing room only as I followed the pleasant hostess that sat us in the back area of the restaurant. I couldn't get over how wonderful my experience was... my waitress was so sweet and very efficient, as I sipped my dejavu cocktail, she explained that things were so busy, that our food was gonna be quite the wait, and I must admit, I was hungry, because I chose to starved myself all day because I knew I was going out to eat that night! After a few cocktails and appetizers, and 45 mins of catching up on old times, the sweet jams of island music pumped thru the atmosphere by live band! I was surprised, to experience a live band in a restaurant, and my waitress informed me that it was an every Wednesday practice! I marveled in amazement! I really feel like I'm on an island vacation I snickered to my friend! Finally in the distance, our waitress returned with our dinner, "thank God" I thought, I was ready to eat a cow at that point!!! OMG! Why didnt anyone tell me that the dish "Rasta Pasta" was a gift from the Gods!!!! lol! Ohhh wow! It was sooo worth the wait! What a lovely place! I told all my NYC friends about the footprints cafe, and decided to return that Saturday!!! I am always forced to go to Manhattan whenever I visit, due to the shortage of fine places in Brooklyn, but this time I had to prove to them That Brooklyn had fabulous places too! Man, I cant wait to return to get my hands on that rasta past again!!! A+++ Footprints!!!

I recently visited footprints after a year and I love what they have done with the renovation.
The fact that they have outside dinning and have extra seating inside gives the place a whole new look and feel. I had the tamarind chicken that was the weekend special and it was delicious. The wait time was a bit long but well worth it. I have always recommend footprints to friends and family members and the also love the food an ambiance.

I've been going to footprints scince they opened a couple years back. The food used to be really good and the service on point. For the past year, I have noticed extreme delays in food being delivered to my table, waitresses acting as though its chill time, and they are not at work, not checking up on their tables, food cold and distasteful. Tonite was the last straw, the waitress didn't come to my table until the hostess had to find her and remind her, then when she came she didn't introduce herself, she just asked if we were ready to order with a damn attitude, didn't write my order down, my food came before my drink, when she came back to the table, she completely forgot that I ordered my drink, even though she repeatedly asked me because she kept forgetting because she didn't write anything down, never came to check on our table, in the middle of my meal two other male workers made me get out of my seat to remove a plant from behind my chair, and didn't even move the table and chairs back when they were done. I asked to speak to the manager, he can't reach my table all till now, too busy outside posing up on other people vehicles with his friends to give a damn. The worst

I've been to the Footprints on Coney Island and it was OK. The food could have been much better, the service was ok and i guess it was alright but not the best. Then i went to the Footprints on Clarendon since it is near my house and i hate it there ! The staff members are extremely rude and disrespectful. They are famous for that Rasta Pasta which tastes really nasty. It is way too greasy and just disgusting. I would never recommend Footprints ro a friend beacause it was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE .

I had a dinner party @ the foot prints in Coney Island becuase they are fairly bigger than the one on Clarendon Rd. The waiter was very helpful and was attentive to the needs of everyone. There were about 25ppl (any more after that you have to pay a rental fee). And he was able to give everyone seperate bills if needed. He mainly worked alone and the food was on point and the drinks as well...

Cons: The only issue was the manager kept coming upstairs to see if I had reached the "over 25 ppl mark" my guess was so that he can start charging...

I have went to Footprints several times over a period of a year. The quality of food has declined tremendously! I loved the rasta pasta the first time I went there a year ago and now it's just plain disgusting. The pasta is undercooked and hard and the sauce is now tasteless and watery! My friend had to return his cold food and the waitress had a horrible attitude because we told her we were unsatisfied. It is so loud that you can't even here yourself think along with the bad food. This is only a good place if you want to watch a football game with the guys and you're not hungry!

I recently visited footprints cafe and brought a friend. it was monday night karaoke so it was ok, food was ok and service the worst. our server, based on the receipt was named Shondel. the young lady was rude and crass. i was on a 2nd date so kept my cool. when we received the bill 17% gratuity was on, again i kept my cool and didnt question it. i returned another evenin with a guy friend and sat at the bar, our bill was within the same range so i asked the bartender if gratuity wasn't charged at the bar, the bartender said yes it was the restaurant"s policy to put gratuity on parties of 4 or more..i felt robbed and told the bartender about my monday night visit, and upon tellin the bartender who the server was, the bartender told me that the server, has a practice of putting gratiuity on almost all her checks with a total approaching $80 and over and that management was aware. the bartender then got into a bunch more things which quite frankly raised my eyebrows..i would have spoken to a manager, but in the interest of the bartender not been out of work and since management was aware of the server's actions and paid a blind eye i let it be.. i might go back with my guy friends as it is an ok place to watch sports and hang with the guys and will watch my bill and question it if that is required. SO BASICALLY IF YOU GO TO FOOTPRINTS CLARENDON CHECK YOUR BILL BEFORE YOU PAY.

I and a group of friends went out for my birthday this past saturday (12/20/08) and half of my party got sick and had cases of the frequent bathroom visits. Got there about 5PM.......group of about 11 or so people It was early, maybe this contributed to the stale "yesterdays" left overs taste of the food once it became warm? Anyways, I ordered the codfish fritters that had no codfish in them whatsoever, that came with avocados that tasted and looked old and dark! and main course of cajun chicken and shrimp with the famed rasta pasta. Others ordered anywhere from chicken roti's to chicken and oxtails. Oncefood started to warm up...the rasta pasta (not al dente!) sauce tasted a bit old! Others complained about the rice tasting old! and one complained that their lemonade even tasted old and for whatever reason was tinted a bit brown????(maybe its their style of lemonade)...but at end of dinner while lounging, several trips were made to the bathroom! I got home and I was up all night and into the next day destroying my bathroom,I could not sleep! I text all of my friends and about half of them had the same runny experience and some others had it worse! complaining of chills and heavy.. I have contemplated what went wrong for days now! (unsanitory hands, old food left out to long, spoiled meats, etc etc) All I know is this place gave me and about 4 of my friends food (another banned word?)! When someone called to complain to the establishment, the manager came up with so many excuses! "Were we lactose intolerant?" "Maybe it was because we were drinking?" "this has never happend before" etc etc. No one is lactose intolerant! Most of the people who got sick did not have any drinks! And 5 people getting sick.......no explanation for that other then something wrong with the food or water! WHAT LAME EXCUSES! For these very reasons, I cannot recommend this place at all! and will never ever go back! Awful! painfully Awful! My butt can testify to that!

I have never been to the Clarendon location as every time I pass by its very crowded. A friend took me to the Coney Island location and I have been there 4 times in the past 3 weeks even though I live 5 minutes away from the Clarendon location and 20 minutes from the Coney Island local. The bartender is a sweetheart and took care of me by making me my favorite drink without the alcohol in it when I told him I was on medication. Hats off the Chefs as the food is always wonderful - - I have never been disappointed!

Pros: Service, Ambience, FOOD!!!

Cons: The bands are sometimes loud and that takes away the intimate feel of the room.

I frequent Footprints Cafe on Clarendon rd, on a regular basis and have always loved the food and atmosphere. Last night however was the first time I had a sit down meal in the Cafe on Surf Ave. We had a small dinner party for my friend's Fiftieth birthday. The service was very good and the food, fantastic. We were all so pleasantly surprised and will certainly have functions at either locations again. Kudos to the owner and management staff of both establishments.

FootPrints has a "Grown and S3xy" appeal to it's restaurant. It's ambience emits classey yet exotic surroundings, and that's just for starters. They have 3 flat screen TVs with a bar, and their food gives me an exquisite taste all through out my taste buds, ^_^. When I first had Rasta Pasta, I couldn't get over the sauce that layed so perfectly on this enjoyable meal. It was sweet, tangy, and cheesy all at the same time. Underneath the cheesey sauce was chicken slices grilled to perfection, along with freshly made pasta. I was intrigued and was left wanting more! I give my thanks to FootPrints for giving our community delicious, high quality meals at effective prices. Hoping for many more visits . . . . . .. AND deliveries, XD.

Footprints Coney Island is my favorite spot! You can't go wrong, it's close to home; staff is very friendly; food is excellent; drinks are fantastic, and the entertainment is outstanding! You feel as if you're on a Caribbean vacation, feasting on fine Caribbean food, sipping on pina coladas, and listening to great bands like Vision, New Kingston and let?s not forget Black Velvet AKA James Brown Jr.! I go there so often I'm greeted with warm hellos and hugs as I walk in. I love everything on the menu, but my favorites are Pepper Shrimps, Curry Chicken, Bailey's Cheese Cake, and Mango Coladas. I have recommended Footprints to many of my friends and colleagues on several occasions. I even brought my mother there for Mother's Day Brunch. If Mom gives it her stamp of approval..... It's Got To Be Good!

I've never gone to Footprint's 1st location but the location in Coney Island is really nice. On Friday and Saturday they have live music the food is great but the service leaves much to be desired. Table space is at a premium so you often have to request water. The servers get pretty busy so grab them when you can.

I've never gone to Footprint's 1st location but the location in Coney Island is really nice. On Friday and Saturday they have live music the food is great but the service leaves much to be desired. Table space is at a premium so you often have to request water. The servers get pretty busy so grab them when you can.

Pros: great ambience, food is pretty good (the jerkchicken tastes like its supposed to)

Cons: bad service, often having to ask for water

.

I went there on Saturday night with a girlfriend and I was not sure what to expect. Turns out we LOVE the place. The food was great, and the service was on point. We will definitely be back.

This is my first time posting a review on city search, and I am pleased to comment on Footprints. This place is great. I went to the Clarendon location on three occassions and have had a wonderful experience each time. The only issue with Footprints is that the bouncer (with the dreds) is very sarcastic and can come of as being rude. Also the place is too small for the amount of people that come there. So the wait for a table can be a while but it is all worth it. Anyone trying this place for the first time should try the RASTA PASTA w/ grilled shrimp, yummy yummy. This is what I get everytime, I havent tried anything else but I plan to do so.

I must say I love footprints. I visit both location Coney Island and Clarendon rd. Clarendon is a bit small but the ambiance and the food are excellent. There is a bit of a wait for the food, considering that most of the items on the menu are made to order and there is always crowd a wait is to be expected. (Worth the wait) Its one of the only places I know in Brooklyn that the kitchen is open to late, a plus for me. Coney island I s also a great place very classy and upscale. I recommend footprints to everyone I know. The food is good, the drinks are never water down and the service is also good. The Rasta pasta with chicken and shrimp is differently one of my favorites. The bialys cheese you must try. I commend the owners and management for what there bring to Brooklyn. It?s been long over due

As far as restaurants go its hard to find a nice place to feel safe and comfortable in Brooklyn, but Footprints is the one exception. The ambiance is above par for most spots in Brooklyn and the staff are friendly and attentive. I and My boyfriend went there on a Wednesday night to the Coney Island Location and the wait was well worth it for a fresh prepared meal that was steaming HOT! when it arrived to my table. We will definately try the other location as soon as possible. Would definately recommend!

I went on Monday evening with a friend about 9:00 p.m. to the Surf avenue location. It was Comedy night and was supposed to start at 9:30. The Hostess is friendly, nice ambiance. The server Jamaican guy takes our order. First thing he does is take a seat. I asked if he was the owner. He said no he is the server and we were wondering why he was sitting like he was eating with us. This behavior continued throughout the night. Anyway, I ask what is there to drink that is non alcohol he just tells me sorrel, lemonade, fruit juice, sodas and couple other things. I asked if there was nothing else he said everything else has alcohol. I wanted frozen drinks. I said fine and ordered fruit juice and my friend order lemonade. I get my fruit juice its sour and it taste like it came out of a box. My friend doesnt like her lemonade says its too sweet. So, I say okay give me lemonade. He saiys take hers. Im like are you kidding. I dont drink off of my friends but even if I did how unprofessional. I get my own lemonade and it taste like sugar water. I ask why is it brown and what is in it. He says water, lime and sugar. I asked why is is brown, he says it is brown sugar. Okay fine but there is not much lemon in this juice. I got a sugar rush from drinking it. We ended up making our own lemonade by asking for lemons to squeeze in there. So I ordered oxtail and rice and peas. My friend orders chicken strips as an appetizer with macaroni and cheese. my meal was okay nothing to rave about. The chicken strips were cut up chicken piece sauteed with peppers etc. It was supposed to be in chicken tender forms as an appetizer. You cant eat stewed up chicken as an appetizer. Though it didnt taste bad. The comedy ended up starting at 11:00 p.m. HOW HORRIBLE WERE THEY About 6 acts and not one of them funny. It was just so bad. They did send a piece of complimentary red velvet that the presentation was nice but it was more icing

I usually don?t stay in Brooklyn for dining experiences but a terrible storm limited us.
This place was recommended by a friend and its nearby location made it seem like heaven but it turned out to be HELL. Inside is o.k. a dimly light bar that?s too small for all that they are trying to do with it. The bouncer was extremely rude and seemed disgruntle about life or other issues he?s having. When trying to make small talk with him he was rude and seemed annoyed that we didn?t have there our licenses b4 we came to the door ( I mean come on we?re both over 30 who are u carding?). We should?ve run for the hills as soon as this happened but hey I took it as a compliment.
Next the hostess was extremely rude as she told us we would have to wait 45 minutes for a table. BTW the waiting involves STANDING not sitting in a waiting area like other places but STANDING in the aisle while waitresses with food/drinks and other people bump you a round. We chose to stand at a less populated area and she told us we would lose our seats if we stood there so back we went for 45 minutes of being bumped pushed touched and having your feet hurt from all that standing.
Now we finally get a seat and order our drinks and all they bring to the table to munch on are these dry peanuts. Our waitress came to see us three times once to find out what we wanted, a second time to bring us our drinks and a third when we had enough and just wanted the check. BTW this was in an hour span we had to wait another hour for the food itself. So after standing for an hour we get another hour of sitting, eat dry peanuts while our waitress glances to see if we?ve submitted yet and buy more drinks. Simply put the worst dining experience I?ve ever had, bad customer service. Only good points are the food and the live entertainment but it gets lost because they are right there on the floor with you playing in your ear. Definitely wouldn?t recommend it and wouldn?t go back if it was the last place on earth.

Although the menus and service are comparable at both venues, I personally prefer the Coney Island location. The food is some of the best food I've ever tasted. (I don't do cheap and neither do my friends) I had a celebration dinner there and all my girlfriends keep raving about how good the food is. It's evident from once you walk through the doors that Footprints Coney Island serves to cater an elegant and sophisticated crowd. The food is authentic Carribean cuisine presented with an exquisite flair; I truly love this place. Is it Romantic? Ask my husband- he asked me to marry him on its moonlit patio. So this place is very special to us for reasons other than the great food and entertainment. Hip hop- Jazz on Sundays featuring the phenomenally talented Alan Blake. The manager is always visible and floating about. The waiters are cool and so are the bartenders.

I normally don't like going to bars in Brooklyn because you don't get the same service as the city, But this was an exception, I went for a friend's Birthday, and completely fell in love with the venue and it's staff. We arrived a little late, but the host "Cris" escorted us to the upper level where the reservations were, and I was completely shocked by the ambience of the lounge area upstairs. We had a few drinks before we ordered, they were prepaired by one of their many beautiful bartenders. Dinner took a little while to arrive, but it was expected because THEY ACTUALLY START COOKING when you order, unlike many other places w/ semi cooked food that gets reheated when you order.

I visited the Coney Island venue but was told they have another one on Clarendon Road which is much closer to my home, so I will be visiting and possibly become a regular if it's anything like what I experienced in Coney Island.

Real Carribbean Cuisine, made by Real Caribbeans.

I cant beleive a place like this actually came to Coney Island...the Food is amazing, and i love the JAMES BROWN BAND, and the KINGSTON KIDS that play there all the time. everytime I go there, i shoot right upstairs to the second floor, where the most beautiful woman in all of Brooklyn Works the Bar. I think she's From Brazil, or some exotic small Carribbean Island, but wherever she from, she's tall, dark and Gorgeous and she always knows what i'm drinking, her drinks are the best, just as strong as she is gorgeous.
I have My Signiture dish as well, which is their Famous Rasta Past and BBQ Shrimp.Every Friday, they have a Specialty Seafood Dish, that you think you can only find in a expensive seafood resturaunt in Manhattan, but a few minutes after your plate comes up, so does the JAMAICAN CHEF, will his Fresh White Suit and Tall hat to match to make sure that you're alright and your dish is the way it should be. You cant' ask for more. Everyone on staff is their own little character, you have the "Supermodel Bartender" Upstairs, "The Russian Steven Segul" Downstairs , a "Dancehall Queen", the "Oldies Guy", Roberts, " the Ladies Man" (the Bald Guy) and "Ms. Tight Body of the Year" on Saturday Nights. I love the staff, sometimes they fall off track a little, but the embience, the food, the Owner, Bobby and the Music makes up for Any mistakes prior.

very different from the first location on Clarendon Rd. in Canarsie from the time you walk into Footprints CI, you're Greeted by a Gorgeous smiling Latina, a Polite Security Guard, and you walk into, Montego Bay, Jamaica, Brazil, Italy, North Carolina, Russia, Panama etc alllll in one

I highly recommend any Party, any couple and any ladies night to have their dinner and drinks HERE!!

Thank God they got rid of that first Coney Island Hostess, ya'll know who she is

If your looking for a restaurant that offers great West Indian food with professional service locally in Brooklyn then this place is splendid. I recommend the tropical pina coladas and the rasta pasta dish. This restaurant is perfect for a date if you want somewhere to eat and be fully entertained. The night I went they had a few comedians making jokes about relationships, This was perfect for my date as I nodded to jokes that I experienced. The time it took for the entrees was fair surprisingly actually since it was a packed night. I thought it was going to take longer. All the staff was having fun at work, which added to the friendly atmoshpere. The waitress was polite and knowledgeable. The food was hot, tasty and full of flavor. No pressure for appetizers, desserts or drinks. Just plenty of smile, hustle and no hassle attitude from bartenders.

At First Impression Footprints looks like your typical carribean restaurant but at second glance you notice that the warm ambiance and succulent dishes are amazing when sampled. I have been a loyal customer for six years and the owners Bobby and Lorraine always makes me feel at home. The bartender always knows what i am drinking and they make me feel like I am at a (cheers bar ). The wait for some dishes is always told to me in advance and it is well worth it for fresh hot superb food i would and have already recommended scores of people who have had the same results.

The service is horrible! I went to the location in Coney Island @ 1521 Surf Ave. It was a large group for a friends birthday so our tables had been reserved. The birthday girl was late so it was about 5 of us waiting at one of the tables. The waitress came by every 5 minutes pestering us about if we wanted to order, I had already ordered 2 drinks and the others at the table had ordered about 4 because they were waiting before I arrived. The waitress rolled her eyes at me when I told her we werent ready to order because we were waiting for more people. Once the others came we placed our orders and they did also. Our table (5 of us) waited for about 45 minutes while we watched everybody else get served first including the birthday girl and 8 of her friends and a couple behind us that had came in after us. I didnt even want my food when it came and I told the guy who brought it and he tried to guilt me into eating it by stating that our food took long because my boyfriend ordered a steak. Even with that 1 person at our table still had not gotten her food yet. The food was ok maybe it was because they had already upset me, but I didn't even eat all of it and I did not want a doggie bag. There was nothing done to compensate this at all and the bill took a long time to come until we satrted putting on our coats, then it came swiftly. I would not recommend this place to anybody, I had a terrible experience and the food is overrated it was ok but nothing to write home about.

Footprints Cafe was all I expected and more. If you live in Brooklyn and looking for a restaurant, where the food is excellent and the staff is courteous, this is the restaurant you want to visit. I was fortunate to meet the Chef (Basil)! He take so much pride in preparing every dish that comes out of the kitchen. The owner Bobby is the most wonderful person. Although the restaurant is small he takes time to make sure all his customers are satisfied. The wait time is a little long because the restaurant is allways full. The live entertainment is also amazing! I felt like I was on a beach side cafe in Negril,Jamaica. I highly recommend this restaurant for people who want to experience jamaican food at its finest.

I really enjoyed my first visit to Footprints. I picked this particular restaurant because it came highly recommended and they were on the list for Brooklyn's Restaurant Week. I found the food to be great and the portion were more than enough. I also thought the drinks had great names and they were tasty. The only problem I had was that the waitress had no idea the restaurant was a participant in the Restaurant Week festivites because according to her the manager had not told them and there was no special menu.

This place has GREAT food thanks to the Chef!!! (Great guy) But overall service is VERY POOR. At times there's a live band, but the establishment is too small for it, the noise level is out of control. Seating is also a problem, there's basically only tables for 2, so forget going there in a group of 4, you'd wait for hours line the walkway... And O' if you get a "bird -brain" waitress, you may never get a TAB... I didn't. ;-)
