We began Granny-Made®, back in 1985. Our first venture was a catalog of handmade cable knit sweaters. We were inspired by designs Granny Bert Levy first began knitting in 1917 for U.S. Soldiers fighting in Europe. Over the next 75 years she knit wonderful sweaters, hats, and mittens for our family and friends.
Designs we still carry today.
Granny taught us to value quality, aspire to a higher standard, and to lead ethical lives.
In 1986 we opened our store, Granny-Made®, in a wonderful neighborhood on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
Over the years, our store, which specializes in sweaters, clothing, and gifts, has steadily grown to include a wide assortment of special merchandise from around the world for adults, children and infants.
Now in our 22nd year in business, we're delighted to make some of our favorite gifts available Now on our web site.

Wonderful Gift Items for children
Granny Made has a wonderful selection of clothing for kids. I found a beautiful sweater there for my neice, although I must say I had a problem narrowing it down with the very nice selection they had. The service was also very attentive without being bothersome. It was simply a very pleasant environment and shopping experience.

Great NYC shop. Perfect for Gifts.
Granny-Made has a great selection of children's clothes that you won't find in your basic department store. I've always preferred the neighborhood stores because the service is always much more friendly and attentive. Granny Made was just that. Not only did I find some wonderful gifts, I was given helpful customer service and assistance in picking out just the right outfits. Highly Recommended.

Terrible Returns
Both my sister and I were given baby gifts from Granny Made. Neither was to our liking ( a friend of our mother's was the present giver and barely knew us) so we decided to see if we could exchange them for something we'd prefer and use. The person at the store was instantly rude at the very thought of a return. She then informed us that the items were now on sale and only exchangeble at the 80% off price. Even when we tried to do that she told us repeatedly that what we were looking at couldn't be used towards our exchange even when we offered to pay the difference in cash. The entire experience was dreadful and actually upsetting. I would not recommend shopping here and certainly don't buy any gifts!

Great childrens' clothes
A great store, with clothes that don't seem mass produced and even have more of a color palate than pink or blue for newborns! Great selection for the size store it is and I always leave the store with something new.
The lady behind the counter is a bit surly, but maybe that's because I am a male . . . who cares the clothes are worth the grump.
