Dr. Alexandru has been my vet. for fifteen years. He is very compassionate. I've seen many vets in my life. He is by far the best, and is very trustworthy.

I have had 2 emergency situations with this vet office. One was when one of my cats nearly severed a toe and needed it amputated. I had taken her to a 24 hr emergency vet office on court street that quoted me an outrageous price and when I took her the next day to the clinic, they gave me a much more reasonable price and she did very well. Recently, another cat of mine was hit by a car and broke her hip in 2 places. Dr. Alexandru took excellent care of her and he seems to me to be a very caring vet (even offered my cat pizza because I told him it was her favorite food) and the bill was reasonable for a hip and extended hospital stay including bloodwork and x-rays. Dr. Ibrahim was also wonderful and very caring, as she examined my cat initially. I would also like to say all the ladies who work in the front were very caring and sweet and I encountered none of the nastiness and rudeness others have written about. I urge readers to give the clinic another chance, the staff must have changed, because these are very caring and friendly people!!

I would like to respond, in a general way, to the previous comments.
Dr. Alexandru and staff recognised that Dr. Kirsh was not a good fit with the Animal Clinic of Bay Ridge and did not represent the clinics long history of devotion to the animals and people of this community. Dr. Alexandru tried to alleviate any tensions between Dr. Kirsh and clients while she was here. As soon as her contract expired he informed her he would not renew it.
My name is Dr. Lynn Mastrangelo and I replaced Dr. Kirsh this past October. Dr. Alexandru and I as well as our staff are committed to practice high quality, compassionate medicine. Both of us have been in the veterinary field for many years and have dedicated our lives to this nobel profession.
I would like to extend an invitation, to anyone in this community who has concerns visiting our clinic, to meet with you to discuss any questions or concerns. I hope to ensure you that we are here to do our best to take care of your animals. I look forward to continue meeting the people of this community and providing care to your pets.

I have been using this vet since for 30 years. first with my cats and second with my dogs. I found them to be exactly what they say they are, a Clinic. they are very busy and have see many animals in one day. if you are looking for a vet that is going to tell you how great you and your pet is and spend hours with you, then you may want to find another vet. This place treats your pets and does a good job of it. What i like most about them is that it is a walk in and their prices are fair .

I brought my cat there 4 times, each time seeing a different vet and all of them failed to diagnosis my cat's cancer, but they charged for all their failed attempts. Brought the cat to another vet who performed the proper tests and diagnosed the cancer on the first visit. They are incompetent, but are very good at taking money.

We have two dogs, and have found the Animal Clinic of Bay Ridge to be our favorite in South Brooklyn (after Dr. G. left Narrows.) I did see one review here that referred to the Animal Hospital on 68th St. / 5th ave, so let's be clear we are talking about the veterinary practice at 689 86th St. Perhaps it depends on which vet is used. We used Dr. Gazi (sp?) till he went to Canada, and currently am happy with Dr. Anurova. They have both been good with the dogs, and have NOT pushed unnecessary tests, special prescriptions, etc. We are lucky with only two episodes of illness/injury, and both times they were compassionate and treated conservatively and appropriately.

We felt that St. Francis Animal Hospital pumped up the bill with tests, and were not happy with Bay Ridge Animal Hospital on 69th/5th.

Finally, we miss Dr. G. who was at Narrows in the late 90s. He was the best, but we are very happy with Dr. Anurova.

We took our cat there with urinary blockage. After many tests and x-rays etc., the doctor sent us home with three types of medicine and told us that if the cat doesn't urinate within 4 hours to take him to emergency clinic... Luckily, the cat did... Today, six months later, the cat had another blockage. We called to talk to the vet only to be promised a returned call. These blockages will kill a cat if not resolved within 24-48 hours and we were really concerned since it had already been over 24 hours. Well, the vet never even called me back!!! Moreover, as we found out from another vet we just saw, one of the medicines the Bay Ridge clinic prescribed was detrimental for his condition. It should have NEVER been prescribed. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET THERE!!!

I have never had a problem with this vet. When I had my first dog, it took the vet 15 minutes to come to my house and put her to sleep and out of her misery. Now that I have my second dog, the vets were gentle and upfront with everything that needed to be done. I would recommend this vet to any pet owner...
