So my husband bought a Groupon for this place and we love trying new places so after a day of errands yesterday we made our way to Washington Heights for what we hoped would be a wonderful meal. Well, the one glass of Pinot Noir that came

Bleu Evolution is a terrific neighborhood place, if you're looking for fine dining in the Heights. The decor is eclectic yet unobtrusive and the food quite good.

I love the look and atmosphere of Bleu. It is a great place to grab brunch or dinner. They have a nice backyard space which is perfect for sipping a glass of wine. My main complaint is that the food is only ok but they are charging downtown type prices. I will go here again, but I won't expect much with the food.

OK went for Valentines. I live in the neighborhood and have been to Bleu since opening till now all of 3 times and all three were not good. I'm done with them. First thing it's not the most intimate space for Valentines with a party of 6 yelling and laughing next to you. The waiter came to us and asked what we'd like to drink... "we have tap water or wine oh .. and by the bottle". My husband said Pellegrino, I see they have a bottle and pointed at the table across the room. UGH!!!! Third I ordered Salmon he ordered steak. He said well done... the steak was medium rare.. I didn't say anything and got seared sushi!. The mash potato was like half of a large potato mashed. Forth ordered chocolate soufle it was chocolate cake. NEVER going back. 107 West across the street is much better. Bleu needs to hire new staff and recreate the menu. Their decor is great but everything else is a definate thumbs down.

Cons: Food, Service, and Portions

Bleu Evolution isn't cheap, but it's a great place to take a date or visiting friends. I love the atmosphere -- plush, velvety seats, dim lighting, chill music. Every member of the waitstaff I have interacted with has been pleasant, and the food is delicious! The Mediterranean tapas, omelettes, and pasta are all highly recommended, although the portion sizes of the entrees are on the small side (don't look to split anything). There is also a nice selection of wine. Overall, a good place to relax and indulge -- I would take anyone there for the decor, food, and atmosphere.

The restaurant really catches your eye from outside. It looks so cute and quirky ! The decor is really, really clever...but if only they had put an eighth of the effort into the menu and service (that's one-sixteenth each if you're keeping track) that they put into decorating the place! I went with a friend for Sunday brunch, and ordered an omlette (it came with a side salad) and an english muffin. The salad was just arugula, and they forgot dressing. No problem, it happens, right?...oh, but they forgot jam and/or butter for the english muffin, too. Still no big deal. The waitress blatently ignored me twice when I spoke as she walked by and only came over when my friend got up to get her. She said that oil and vinegar was the only salad dressing available (not true. They have ceasar salads! I mentioned this to the waitress who was offended that I should point out other options), they had no jam or jelly (but they serve BRUNCH??) and then brought frozen butter. My friend ordered a tuna sandwich and was told that the only bread choice was white Wonder bread. She ordered the bread toasted. It arrived UNtoasted and with a scoop of tuna so small, we just had to laugh. Like it was scooped with a melon-baller. No kidding. Really unfortunate that this place is so horrible (though I had been warned by friends in the area before I went), it really looked promising. I would have rated the ambience as better, but everyone else seemed to be irritated with their food/service as well.

Pros: Good for anorexics. Sip water and look around, you'll enjoy.

Cons: Food, service, options, menu, all around bad

I used to eat at Bleu when it was under the old ownership and it was a very pleasant experience. I've gone in once or twice since it was sold and it has been very mediocre with the decor of the garden as the one saving grace. Today however when I went in for lunch I had a dining experience out of a Larry David comedy.

I ordered the Croque Monsieur, figuring there is only so much they can do to screw it up. Well, when they brought me a ham sandwich on wonder bread with swiss cheese melted on top, I was amazed at how wrong my assumption was. I asked the waiter if it always comes on packaged white bread and he said yes. When I tried explaining that I'd never seen a Croque Monsieur on such lousy bread, he mentioned that several people had said the same thing and that the manager would be back soon and I'd be able to speak to him. Of course I didn't even go into the fact that they seemed to be using cheap ham and not grueyere, I figure the bread is is the one thing that they should get right.

When the manager arrived, he approached me and asked what was wrong with my sandwich. I explained my issue with selling it as a Croque Monsieur and making it on cheap packaged white and suggested that in the interest of being taken seriously for their food, they should use a crusty french style white bread instead. To that he laughed and me and told me that this is the right bread to make a Croque on and that I didn't know what I was talking about. He has a French chef and everyone uses this kind of bread for it. I told him I didn't want to argue it with him, and that I was only making a suggestion for the restaurant's sake, but that I've had Croque Monsieurs in Paris and many fine French restaurants in this city and he is dead wrong. Again he arrogantly told me to go to a good French restaurant and that I'd see they use the same bread.

While the decor is nice, they really don't seem to care about what they serve and it's a shame it was ever sold.

I just moved to this neighborhood 6 months ago, and I have taken all of my friends who come visit to Bleu. They have a really good brunch and dinner menu. I especially like the half size portion options. I have been here at least 6 times and have not been let down. I love the garden and the indoor decor. Although, their one mistake is a giant size TV in the bar area which is so out of place and was playing a horrible boxing match while my friends and I were having dinner.

Terrible, terrible. What have the new owners done to a once wonderful place? Food is served cold and with attitude. This used to be the type of place you could meet up after work for a drink and perhaps a meal with friends. Now, it's simply an embarrassment to the neighborhood. Please close soon.

They used to be great, but now they're billing themselves as some kind of Italian trattoria. Like we need another. If you used to go, and loved it like I did, I would think twice, or only visit if you happen to be in the neighborhood. I asked the waitresss what was up and she said they switched to Italian cuiisine, and they're making a slow switch back to what they use to serve. So who knows. Overall, not something you can count on.

Basically- it was insulting. the waiter was obviously not caring at all about being kindly at all- just waiting on our tip. he was rude throughout, not even offering/asking if we wanted a glass of wine, something to drink, etc. The waiter explained the specials and seemed annoyed when my date asked about a specific item (on the specials)the waiter did not really know the answer & did not offer to find out from the chef more. He then took our order - and as soon as we ordered he grabbed our menus quickly and ran away for a while. the food was okay- but not the biggest choices. The atmosphere is okay, eclectic. I would only go there if you have no other choices.... he was very uninformative- and just annoyed seeming the whole time he had to "deal" with us.

Went w/a few friends for dinner. Service was very good, but the ceasar salad was really bad. There was not work at all put into the ceasar salad. It didn't even look like a ceasar salad. It seems they just pulled out some lettuce, spinkled some croutons and sliced some cheese- AND THAT WAS IT!! The salmon was delicious, but it's all you get for an entree a slab of Salmon in some kind of tomato sauce and THAT'S IT!! The drinks were good for the price

Although the menu is very exciting serving Cocrodile as an appetizer, if you are a picky eater please stick to a McDonalds but if you want adventure this is the place to go. The Drinks on the other hand were the best , this girl knows her drinks.. Enjoy

I live in the vicinity of Bleu and have, with only one exception, had a wonderful time every time I visit. Except for the one disappointment (even bartenders can have bad nights), the service has been pleasant, the food more than fair for the price and the attmosphere very relaxing. PS: Thanks for making New Year's Eve dinner so very memorable!

I was so excited to find such a wonderful dining spot so close to me. I went for brunch and it was the best brunch I have had in the city by far and I have been many places for brunch. The decor is wonderfully over the top. The waitstaff are very friendly. It was a pleasurable experience...within walking distance!

This little gem is a real find! The inside decor is opulent and beautiful, and the patio out back is great for al fresco summer dining. The food was uniformly good. The calamari appetizer and seafood marinara were standouts among a host of other tasty dishes, including steamed mussels and seafood ravioli. The french fries were excellent! Service on the slow side. Also, reasonably priced. Well done!
