I love amusment parks of all kinds and I have to say this one is one of favorites. The rides are excellent, they have everything from kiddy rides to thrill ones. The selection in food is amazing, you get almost anything you want, and of course lots of candy! Everyone can find something to do here and you'll feel that one day is not enough!

The park was nice and clean, but the problem was that the rides were limited for the younger set of kids. I'm really glad that the tickets were given to us, and that we didn't spend the money on them since our kids were a bit young for most of the rides. People working at the park were generally friendly. Parking is better thatn many such parks as nothing is too far from the gates

We have always enjoyed going to Darien Lake. They have a lot to do and rides for all ages. I was slightly disappointed with the prices. Admission is expensive and you seem to be nickel and dimed throughout the day. When you add up the total cost of a visit there, you might as well have gone to Disney.

Without taking a long ride to Ohio to go to Cedar Point, this is the best and biggest around. It's also the MOST EXPENSIVE! Tickets (without a discount) are $33.99, but you can buy them online at the website (www.sixflags.com/darienlake) for $25.99 or at any Wegmans for $22.99 - a lot of employers offer discounted tickets anywhere from $17.99 to $22.99 each. This is the cost of an adult admission.
Children (under 48") are as follows:
Online purchase & price at park: $19.99
Wegmans: $17.99
Children (2 years & under): Free

Parking is $7 in their lot, which really bites.

They have lots of great rides, an awesome water park, but if you're not into that, this is a waste of your time. But, since it's so far out in the boonies, you have to go with your kids, you can't just drop them off and come back later to pick them up.

They have a strict policy about bringing your own food & drinks into the park (you can't), so be prepared to spend a fortune on soda and bottled water, eats & treats.

This is a "one time" deal in the summer. Pack up the kids, take them one time, and enjoy.

Of course, they also offer a season pass, which if you really plan on going a lot is well worth it.

Way back in "my" day, before 6 Flags came in, you could buy 2 levels of tickets - one was a less expensive walk around pass, no rides, the other was an all day, all ride pass.
Now, doesn't matter what you want to do, everyone pays ONE PRICE, and it's very expensive. You can find discounted tickets at Wegmans, and some employers have discounted tickets available to employees.
They charge for EVERYTHING here, including a whopping fee to park in THEIR lot!
You can't take ANY food or beverage inside the park, so be prepared to pay hefty prices ($10 for a 12-inch sub from the in-park Subway) for food and water.
Unless you live in Corfu, Darien or the surrounding towns, this is a long haul out (about 30-45 minutes one way, depending on traffic), and with the cost of gas what it is, just the trip out can be an expensive proposition.
And...if there's a concert at 6 Flags the day you go out, be prepared for double or triple the normal traffic volume. It took us 2 hours to get out of the parking lot one night after a concert, then another hour to get to the thruway entrance and through the tolls (which is about 10 minutes from 6 Flags).
The light show at the end of the night is really awesome, the rides are plentiful and fun (for people who like rides), but wait times to get on rides can be long.
Also, when they say "kids price", they don't mean under 18, they mean under a certain height. So, if you have kids who got tall early (like we do), be prepared to pay full adult price for them from about age 6 or 7 on.

PROS: Lots of Rides, good light show
CONS: expensive tickets, food, drinks, games, parking

6 Flags Darien Lake is a decent way to spend a summer afternoon. And it is a place that you can cover in one day - it's not that big, but big enough that you won't be bored. It's a good family fun kind of place with a part of the park dedicated to the little kiddies and another part of the park dedicated to water rides. There are places to have picnics/barbeques but there are also plenty of places to stop and eat in the park as well. They also have concerts and other events randomly throughout the summer, but I haven't been to many of these. I'd say the highlight of this amusement park is the Superman ride, and as long as you can bypass the lines this ride is fun to ride over and over and over... and over again. Not too shabby for a local amusement park, but there's a lot better elsewhere.
