not bad

by Tahnee L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,319

Last week, me and my girlfriends went out for lunch to Megu in Tribeca. This was my first time because I hear this restaurant is pretty expensive and I just didn't have a chance to go there. But I keep hearing about this restaurant how wonderful the service, atomosphere and above all great food. And it was great lunch ever. Actually the price was just $25.00 for 3courses + dessert, I believe that they offer the greatest deal in the city.We all had Kobe Beef Burger and Makunouchi Bento Box (samplers of their signature dishes). We all loved what we had ordered. Their food is so goooooood!! And their service, our server was very friendly and helped us with menus very kindly. The atomoshpere is great for business lunch as well. It's certainly worth checking out.

Mega-Trendy Megu

by Kamran A. | insider Insider | Rank: 26,227

Think Sex & the City. Think uber-trendy Tribeca restaurant with a ridiculous scene and amazing decor. Combine those and you have the ambience and atmosphere for mega-trendy Megu, a giant Japanese and sushi restaurant and bar/lounge in downtown Manhattan. The centerpiece is a huge ice sculpture Buddha surrounded by a rose petal water garden. The whole space -- from the ornate entry to the massive dining room -- is breath-taking. After the sensory overload of the environment, the food can't help but seem like second-fiddle. Still, the on-the-stem unique servings of edadame (watch out for the $20 price tag) and the sushi are both terrific. Their specialty drinks are also very good. Overall, a great restaurant with an amazing decor and mood.

PROS: Space, mood, lighting, and decor are truly awe-inspiring.
CONS: Location -- it's way down in Tribeca on a quiet street at night.
