Enjoyed a cocktail & Live music first in the lounge. They have these Tea Infused Cocktails- not too sweet. Great Live Music-It was a Thursday Night- Very Cool Crowd. Had dinner in the Beautiful library Room- server was very attentive not intrusive- Loved the Chef special of Prime Rib Soup. Enjoyed a very BIG Porter house for 2 & all the sides. Their sommelier was so helpful & did not try & sell us above our means. We loved & will be back for easter Sunday to bring our whole family. Four Stars all the Way..Loved It!

Pros: Best Porter House of all the Primes

Rothmann's is a place we've wanted to go to for some time, so when we received a gift certificate it was just an added bonus. We figured we'd go out for a nice dinner and hoped it would be a place we'd return to for special occasions.

Keep in mind that we are in our early 30's, successful, dressed more appropriately than 90% of the clientele (the man in the fur jacket AND fur boots stood out). We were surrounded by people who were trying too hard and greeted by a hostess who clearly thought very highly of herself. Nevertheless, we had a good - but not fantastic - meal. Our wine was great, the appetizer (proscuitto-wrapped asparagus) was light and delicious, and the steaks were cooked perfectly. We've had better, but there's no denying that they were great. The creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were definitely average. We had cappuccino after dinner with the warm chocolate souffle, which was hands-down the best part of the meal. And the service was great (I say this as someone who worked as a server in college). And then we were handed the bill. We fully expected for the meal to exceed the amount of our gift certificate ($150).

So the food was good - not amazing - but good, but the reason I will not return - ever - is the comment made by our server (who was by all standards otherwise excellent) as he returned the bill to me after running my credit card (to cover the balance). He looked me right in the eye and said, pointedly, "Thank you in advance for your generosity." WHO DOES THAT? I was beyond insulted that he would imply that I would not tip on the full amount of the bill. Besides the fact that it's just tacky for a server to even make reference to his tip at all. It was reprehensibly rude.

If you're under 35, successful, love restaurants, not a d-bag, and you want to go out for a steak, you're better off in Huntington. You won't have to swerve to avoid all of the chips on their shoulders.

Cons: Value, Snobby Crowd and Service

Rothmann's is a good restaurant but understand...It's expensive...very expensive...The last time I went with my girlfriend 2 filet mignon's were $70 and were OK..2 baked potatos were $12 and were OK...The Asparagus was $8.00 and was above average...The shrimp scampi appetizer at $15.95 was above average...The Tomato and Mozzerella appetizer was $9.95 and below average and overpriced...My girlfriends glass of wine was $9.00 and was OK...MY ginger ale was $3.00 and portion was small and extremely skimpy...The creme brulee dessert was $5.95 as was OK...The total check was $133.85...The tax was $11.54...and out of the goodness of my heart I gave the waiter an 8% tip which added $10.70 to the bill...normally I tip nothing...My view on tipping is the same view Steve Bucemi's character had in the movie Reservior Dogs...If your gonna work a job where the base salary is $4.00 and hour and your relying on peoples good nature for a living you have to understand that you will- from time to time -be waiting on people like me who resent the entire practice...You would think at these prices the service should be included like it is in other countries.

The Bruch is good but expect to pay about $68 per person...True it has all you can eat lobster (which was cold) along with other items...Expect to pay $68 per person...They will be adding an 18% gratuity to the bill...This is wrong because you are getting up constantly to serve yourself...all the waiters do is bring you Mimosas that are being poured from a servi bar not even 25 feet from the table. I loved getting to give this guy almost 10 dollars for bringing me 3 mimosas and having the bus boy take away the dirty plates.

Don't get me wrong...I will be returning to Rothmann's in the future with my girlfriend..we go about once a year...and the waiter will be getting his usual 8% tip. I've never had a job in my life where people were expected to give me tips...

i go to all the other prime steakhouses on long island and i keep finding myself and my family and friends going back to rothmann's. it's simply the BEST. they have 3 other places on the island and i've been to them all, but rothmann's is the best of the bunch. they have professional servers who know everything about their menu and a great sommelier who is so helpful with his selections. their rooms are very cozy and great for private parties (we've thrown one recently) and we've even tried their brunch and it is comparable to the garden city hotel's brunch but a bit less expensive. if you havent' tried rothmann's you must, you won't be dissappointed.
