I've been on the intrepid a few times and it's always fun and I see new things. The inside is bigger than it seems. Places to eat, some activities. On top, the planes are cool but you can't get in them, lol. Not a bad place to check out if you've never been on a big ship and never seen planes up close.

PROS: Fun and unique type of museum
CONS: Kind of old and doesn't really get updated

This is a great place for the whole family to go to during the summer months if your going to be in new york city, it is the largest naval museums and has plenty to look at once there. I espeically enjoyed looking at the dozens of international aircrafts that were on display there, admission ticket prices were not bad, I would recommend it to others.

I've never been on an aircraft carrier so the experience was quite cool. They had the Concorde on exhibit as well as the SR-71 Blackbird, as well as many other aircraft. A bit pricey ($14) but worth the trip in my opinion.

PROS: Many aircraft and a carrier to look at
CONS: A bit pricey

If you are in the market for an exciting and informative day-trip in New York City, don't miss a visit to the Intrepid Museum. Located in Manhattan and on a docked airline tanker, the Intrepid offers a wonderful opportunity to learn a bit more about naval and aviation history.

The Intrepid also offers a docked submarine to visit, as well as a variety of decommissioned airplanes that were used in combat or for other purposes. Prepare to climb up many steel staircases as you ascend the many decks of the huge airline carrier. Take a tour with a guide to see the many features of this amazing ship. You can climb up to the high deck where there are some incredible airplanes to see--including a huge stealth plane that is just amazing to see in person. Every plane is marked with a helpful plaque for tourists to read and learn more about the planes housed here.

There is so much to see--the captain's quarters, the steering room, the giant compass that served the ship. The Intrepid has a decent gift shop that sells tourist fare like pens, posters, and s. There are some nice collectibles there, such as minted coins representing the armed forces.

Active members of the armed forces, students, senior citizens--all are allowed a discount on the entrance fee. Coupons are available in Entertainment books if you are looking for a bargain entrance. Regardless of how you pay, definitely take a short journey from NJ over the George Washington Bridge to see this incredible bit of history (the Intrepid once defended the US against kamakaze pilots attacking!). You won't be disappointed!

PROS: Historical, unique, and an incredible array of planes

I still have fond memories of visiting the Intrepid Museum from when I was on a class trip in 4th grade. Imagine seeing this gigantic ship for the first time through the eyes of a child--it is truly awe-inspiring. You get to walk through the actual ship and go through the cabins and see everything inside the ship. It was so much fun. I love coming back at least once a year.

if you want to do something different especially on father's day , if you dad likes ships and navy themes.. it is a very good trip for boy/girl scout too.. I think is is alittle over priced but you can find coupons .. on a nice day you can see the cruise ships parked along the interpid... it is nice to see the insides of a battle ship but it is not for everyone.

The Intrepid Museum is great for war history buffs and clueless people alike. Simply being on a real aircraft carrier is fun. It's great to walk on the deck and in the body of the enormous ship. The exhibits are great as well. There are also other interesting things such as computer simulations of planes landing on a moving aircraft carrier. Kids and adults will enjoy visiting this museum. This is definitely a great way to spend part of the day.

Active duty military get in free here, and student's get a great discount. The USS Intrepid is a huge military ship turned museum, and while onboard you can tour fighter jet planes and missle submarines. The virtual exhibits are a lot of fun, and they have a cool kids zone for the kids! It's also a very educational experience, as you will learn the history of the military and about past wars during your tour.

The USS Intrepid Museum is among the best in New York. The ship has a submarine tour, hundreds of decomissioned airplanes, cool simulations, and plenty of other entertainment. The prices are low and it's one of the only places that has such content! It's a must see for NYC tourists. It blew me away, and I'm sure you'll love it too!
