I enrolled my 2 year old into Stepping Stones last year. It was her first time attending an outside care facility, so I was pretty nervous to say the least. But, all my fears were alleviated pretty much from day one. The school is very neat, well organized and the staff is very friendly and welcoming to the children. They do a good job of keeping the parents aware of what is going on in the classroom that week and they send a daily progress report letting you know how your child behaved that day, whether she napped, ate all her lunch, etc...all things that a parent frets over. I didn't think twice about enrolling her again this year.

This is a very well run business. The directors are bright, organized, and concerned about the children's welfare. They put together a very clear curriculum based on themes that the children will enjoy, plan holiday events, parades, activities, shows, and field trips which are meaningful and fun for the kids. Our child did have fun and learned many new things.
However, we found the space to be much too small for the number of children on hand. In addition, because there are not many teachers in the room for the number of children, and the limited indoor and outdoor space causes restlessness in the children, incidents occur where the teachers are not always aware of the source of problems, nor do they always handle these situations with the greatest sophistication.
It is a warm and inviting school in many ways, and I believe the teachers and directors are trying their best. But, if you are looking for an environment where your children will be nurtured, loved, and cared for in a more personal manner, this is not the right place. They will be kept safe from harm on the surface, but not necessarily below the surface.

The school is run very well, it's clean, and the staff is caring and professional. The curriculum is intensive for a nursery school program. Families are expected to participate in weekly homework and are asked regularly to bring in random items for activities, show and tell, and holiday celebrations. We're very pleased with the class projects and are amazed by how much the children are learning! Our one complaint is the lack of space. The classes are large and the kids are cooped up in the same room all day. The kids can play and climb on loads of fun stuff when the outdoor space is open - but it's tiny and there is zero room to run around. We would be happier to see more opportunity for physical activity.

I live in Staten Island, and my son is currently enrolled in Stepping Stones, Brookyn, NY. I love this school because the teachers truly care about the children. I "checked out" many daycare and nursery schools and nothing could compare to Stepping Stones. I feel very comfortable leaving my son in the care and supervision of Stepping Stones staff. There are alot of "daycares" out there that ensure the safety of your children, but do not provide the care and nurturing that Stepping Stones has. The best part is all of the activities and programs they offer. Every week there is a different "theme", teaching the children many new things and allowing them to use their imagination and growing minds. I highly recommend this nursey school.

My child is currently registered in the nursery age program and I think the staff, the curriculum and their methods of teaching are wonderful. I receive a monthly calendar with themes and events that are going on. It tells me what he is learning on a daily basis which is great. My child has grown immensely in the past year of attending school. He always talks about his friends and teachers when he comes home, sings songs and has become quite the socialite in his class. He has learned so much in just a few months. He tells me about his computer time, reading and writing time, and especially playing in the yard with his friends. I can not complain about anything at all. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a place where you feel your child is in well taken care of and is getting a great early childhood education.

Stepping Stones is a small school in a great neighborhood in Brooklyn. The two head teacher's, Ms. Dawn and Ms. Ro are both certified and they are former public school teachers which is a definite plus. The school offers a competitive curriculum that goes hand in hand with that of a public school, which is also a plus. The problem I had with this school is their method of discipline. Everyday parents receive a progress report and if your child is the least bit active or has any personality at all, you are receiving a NEGATIVE report. I was called on the most minor things, like my child grabbed a toy that another child was playing with. The teachers cannot handle children who are at all hyper or somewhat mischievous which, lets face it, we all have. If you are running a nursery school, then you have to learn how to deal with these issues. I can't comment on all the assistant teachers in the school, but the one my child had, Ms. Liz, is extremely rude and doesn't approach parents in a professional manner. For the money you're paying, I feel that's important. Academically, this school is great, but unless you have a child who sits and vegetates all day, I don't recommend this school.
