I remember when this place was directly across 8th Ave. in a tiny storefront. Now, it is situated in a former reception that is downright nice.I used to live in the neighborhood on Fort Hamilton Parkway, and am planning a trip back to New York. I will be absolutely be making the trek into Brooklyn for Spartan. The Gyro and fries is an unbelievable bargain at $6.15! It was 5.50 when I first went there in 2000! The gyro is the size of a football, and is as hot and fresh as one could hope. I can eat pretty good, and I would be ruined for the day/night if I ate the whole Gyro/fries.-heavily patronized by the 66th Precinct, who seems to know something about good/ big food!

The food is great and healthy, and always delicious. The waitresses, who are the daughters of the owner, are very helpful and bright, and they make the meal even more pleasurable. The owner always is so personable and seems so happy when you enter, but his wife, who is often at the counter, brings down the friendly atmosphere a few notches. I suggest she perk up, because the customers clearly notice her lack of enthusiasm. Other than that, it is fantastic!

Everything at this place is delicious! I would highly recommend the cheese pie, the garden salad and the chicken sticks. You must try the desserts here as well! If you are full from dinner, take some baklava home with you.
If you call in an order, don't be put off by the brisk sound of the wife's voice. She is rarely in a good mood. Don't worry though, her husband is the chef and he is always happy!

I had never tasted a soufflae before or greek food ever before, but when eating at this restaurant, you will fall in love with greek food. There are many flavors that I had never experienced before that tastes extravagant. Very Clean Plates, Good Service!
5Spartan has the best greek food in Brooklyn. Good prices, nice casual atmosphere. The only bad part is the old frowning woman who owns the place. She puts a damper on the food. When she isn't there, the place is happy and everyone us jolly. The chef cuts the food right up front - he's always happy and a pleasure to see.
PROS: Great Greek food
CONS: Grumpy old female owner
