We went to Brandy's last night because a friend recommended it to us while we were in town. We had a blast! The music was fantastic. That piano player was amazing, he knew every song without looking at his music. Then the staff all took turns singing. I don't know where they found these people, but they are all so talented. Reading the other reviews, I was skeptical, but nobody was rude to us, in fact, they sang almost everything that we requested.

There really need to be more places like this. It's so amazing to see live performers! I may have to open one up in London when I get home!!

Thanks, Brandy's staff for taking what was a really fun night and making me feel like total shit. I've had a lot of tough jobs in my life, and I've always been gracious to customers no matter how difficult (and BTW, it is not difficult to be nice to me because I am a good customer who tips really well - and DID tip you well only to be treated like crap). I have NO tolerance for your lack of customer service.

I will not return, nor will any of my friends.

I went for a friend's birthday party on a Monday night. We got there at 10:30 and the place was about 3/4 full and we got a few tables. There is seating for about 50, bar/standing room for about 40. We had a waitress who was very fun, personable, and also a singer. We were treated by hearing songs from the other staff members and a few wonderful patrons. The whole atmosphere was low key and fun, like a great party where we're all in the living room crowded around the piano. Some of the music we heard - Your Song, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Me and Bobby McGee, Time After Time, Galileo, Georgia on My Mind, Midnight Train to Georgia, Seasons of Love, a Lynyrd Skynyrd medley, and even D*ck in a Box from SNL. It was a great evening.
Prices - Wine $7, Bud $5, Coke $3.50, Vodka Cran $8.

I just moved into the area and stumbled by Brandy's and had no idea what it was. We were looking around the east side and went in. It's like a piano bar with someone playing all night and then the staff, bartenders and waittress sing too. We ended up getting up to sing Suddenly Seymour, we had a blast. It's not like Karaoke, they don't have the words, but they'll let you sing if you tip the pianist and know most of the words. We didn't plan on going, but we stayed till 3am! We will be back over and over again. The guys recognize us and treat us well, and we tip the pianist and singers well, so everyone wins!!! SO GLAD we found this place!! Haven't ever seen anyone be rude here, like someone here said, but then who goes into a bar expecting not to drink.....its a business, hello? Go in, order a couple of drinks and have a great time!!

My friends and I go here about once a week for the last 2 years. Everyone that works here sings, and there is live piano music every night. We always have a great time and they let us get up and sing sometimes. Good prices on their drinks too. If you are looking for a bar with fun, live entertainment, it's really the best in the area. We sing a lot of 80's songs. IT ROCKS!!!!

The bartenders here were by far the rudest people I have ever encountered in an NYC bar. First, I asked for a water and was informed that I needed to get a drink because they have a "2 drink minimum". So I ordered a soda. My friends ordered their drinks. We wanted to leave and asked for the check- which was brought to us even though we all had one drink each. -clearly the policy was not enforced and just a way to get them money-. I went to the bar to pay, and was yelled at for not leaving a good enough tip in front of the whole bar. The tip was fine- 15% of the bill- and considering the fact that I was forced into getting a drink, I was not too pleased and 15% was kind. The music here was good but the employees' behavior completely ruined this experience for my friends and I. We will not be returning here, and will take our business to another piano bar. DO NOT go here unless you enjoy being berated by employees.

Pros: Exciting entertainment and great staff, even when there's no piano

Cons: It's filled with old men sometimes but as long as you don't mind it's good.

Many of the regulars at this charming little neighborhood cabaret are mature, suavely dressed gay men who appreciate excellent musical performers. Those singers and piano players also draw local straight men and women in the mood to share a song. The music starts nightly at 9:30pm. There is also a happy hour earlier on in the evening, and drinks are very affordable, especially considering that the live entertainment comes at no extra charge. Cash only.

I've always enjoyed Brandy's. It is a great place with lots of character; from regulars to people just stopping in. You'll not see a piano bar in Manhattan with such a diverse crowd from night to night. Sometimes the place does get a little crowded but it is only a testament to how great it is. Be sure and NOT get in the way of the young 20-somethings and single middle-aged women when they're drinking alcohol and a Billy Joel song comes on!!!

I went here on Friday with friends from out of town. I had such a BLAST! The music was great, the pianist and performers that work there are amazing! Then the bartenders started playing percussion, it was so much fun. My friends loved it as well. Great place for live music, good prices on drinks, fun staff of singers, they even bought us shots. I'm just afraid that my friends will go without me!

Pros: Great music, talented fun waitstaff

Cons: sometimes people talk through songs, but it IS a bar.....

Brandy's is a total blast! My friends and I celebrate every occasion that requires music and alcohol at Brandy's Piano Bar. The staff is made up of some of the most extraordinary talent in the city. I have no idea how they tolerate some of the entitled idiots that sometimes frequent this little nook of a bar-but morons be damned...Brandy's rules!

The last two times I've visted Brandy's I've been appauled by the rudeness of the waitstaff and bartenders. Tonight was the final straw in which my friend, on her birtheday, was chewed out (3 f bombs) for delaying putting her tip down at the bar. The last time we were here the waitress was also very rude and pushy.

Will never go back - they've hired some people who clearly have no idea what customer service is. We came to have a great time and they ended up ruining the night.

We will take our business to another piano bar.

What happened to Brandy's? A few years ago this was such a fun place to go! The bartenders were friendly and the music was great. What a difference a few years can make...

The last couple of visits have been extremely dissapointing. The last couple of times the bartenders have been incredibly rude, even by New York standards.

Tonight was there with a friend for her birthday. Her boyfriend ordered her some champagne to celebrate - he paid for her drink and then started digging into his pocket to grab a couple of dollars for the tip - within 5 seconds the bartender began screaming asking for his $**#(@^ tip and continued ranting explatives at my friend and her boyfriend for 2 minutes thereafter. Our group hung around for a few minutes longer, but my friend was unable to enjoy her champagne as the bartender had succeeded in draining all the joy from what had been a great birthday until that point. Thanks for an awful night we won't soon forget Brandy's!

It was extremely crowded. The wait staff was very rude, and one threatened to start a fight with us.

I loved this place! Shows start at 9:30. Get there a few mintues early for choice of seat. It's tight but a lot of fun. I didn't even notice it was Gay/Lesbian even when the showtunes started. If you love music, you'll love this place. The crowd is a great mix of people. Drinks are affordable. Dress is casual.

I am 31 and have been coming here since age 16. Brandy's brings me such wonderful memories. Looking up at Lauren singing On My Own and wondering when I would see her on Broadway. Over the years friends and family have been dragged here and would leave just as happy and dumbfounded as I was the first time I arrived. Most performers/waitresses are freindly, there are a few exceptions. The paino players range from average to superb. My suggestion: go on Saturday night listen to Lauren and tell them to get Rick back behind the paino! Bravo to you all! Natalie we love you too!

What a lovely piano bar! Everyone is friendly, the atmosphere is inviting, and the staff is extremely talented--they're all good singers specailizing in differnt genres. Better on Friday nights, but still a fun show on Saturdays. Come on in, sit at the bar, and sing along! The beer is bottled and the bar could be stocked with better brands (their best beer is Rolling Rock, which sould give you some idea of the selection), but it's worth it to see (and participate in) this big sing-along. I wish they served bar food.

This place is astounding. The drinks are potent (read never watered down), the staff amazingly friendly and incredinly talented. Weeknights here are a lot quieter and I would recommend it as an end-of-date place to go, and on weekends, well, gets bloody raucous! Enjoy this unique institution and go already!
