One of the best in NY
I do not understand how some people that don't like this restaurant is still going for at least 4 times, must be a masochist.
I have a good experience in La Piazzetta, especially with Francesco and the whole team. Excellent service and food. The first time that I went to La Piazzetta I had pasta with seafood, I felt in paradise!!. First time in my life that I had such experience in one restaurant. Since then, every time that I have anything in La Piazzetta is like returning to Italy.
As per a family restaurant, ask Francesco, he knows how to make kids enjoying his food.

Never Go Wrong...Just gets better
I have been dining at La Piazzetta for quite a few years now almost since they have opened, and have never been dissappointed. For the person who wrote the mozzarella is old, the chianti is watered down thats Bul... I have imported buffalo mozzarella and diff. cheese from italy that are exquisit every time I go and the house wine is always on point.... "the waiters hands are not clean"...C'MON what nonsense is that. Puttanesca and Alfredo? I have never seen these pasta dishes on the menu before. If you are looking for old italian cuisine you are in the wrong place. Every time I go to La P. my experience seems like it always gets better. Chef Francesco your a style and taste is unforgettable. Not to forget the wonderful staff, always making me feel at home...Highly recommended ...The ossobuco and risotto...WOW
Pros: perfect for small parties

Its not good!
This place is for old people who have lost their taste buds. I've been here four times because I am crazy and keep giving it 'one more try.' The service is pretty much non existent - a fairly quick lunch is an hour and half, while a leisurely dinner is three hours?!! You're only eating for maybe 20-25 minutes and waiting and waiting and waiting the rest of the time while the waiter ignores you. How on earth does it take an hour to make carbonara or puttanesca or alfredo pasta? Not an hour. Also, the waiter don't wash their hands. I've seen it countless times. The chianti is watered-down house read. ICK! The salad is never fresh, the mozzarella is old, the cheese is not fresh grated, this place is as bad as the Olive Garden. Mario Batali eat your heart out? Are you crazy? No way, this place is the pits and it always gives me the (rhymes with 'pits).

The best little corner aka La Piazzetta in Brooklyn...Mario Batali Eat your Heart Out!!!
A very cozy romantic atmosphere. Francesco the Chef is outstanding. Mild mannered, old school tradition, well organized. His passion to cooking is unmatched, he is a culinary professional, but his passion is a gift given to Francesco from his momma Couzzo. Mr.Xavier you're great. Carlo you're a great co-owner. This is the only place where my own dad would eat at least 3 bowls of Marinara sauce Francesco makes, as if it was his favorite soup. Mr.Mario your deserts rock...the prices are moderate, the service is unmatched and the antique bar well it has a history in itself. Great place to take a date out.
Pros: Thumbs up
Cons: nada

A great time on any given night
I found it by chance last year on a friend last minute recommendation and I've been hooked ever since. If there is a party there, you'll have no other choice but to dance, not because they'll force you, but because the ambiance is SO great. Food is excellent, and so is the service. It was remodeled recently, and it looks even better. Once, they have this young couple, that they sang in English, Spanish, Italian, Sicilian, etc, without an accent in any of the languages, it was so inviting that I saw a 90 years old woman dancing. For a nice family oriented place, dont miss this one.
Pros: Food, service, ambiance
Cons: still looking for one

Sweet Potato Soup
If you go in the daytime, it feels like you are dining in an Open Garden, because of the glass Rooftop; at night, it's romantic and the atmosphere is great.
The food is incredible! The best thing I had there so far was the sweet potato soup, mashed sweet potatoes (when in season)and the lobster tails with champagne sauce!
I've also had some private parties there with family - excellent food and service.
Chef Francesco made this past New Year's Eve memorable.
Pros: excellent wines, best risotto, Owner's present
Cons: none, none
