First, Citisearch it's time to update the name of this place, they are running under SEA for nearly an year!!!
They have the coolest lounge w/ great djs spinning and awesome bar! The casual hippie crowed makes you feel cool and comfortable, not like the some of the other spots in the neighborhood that is filled w/ snobs!
The staff is very helpful, they offer a very casual service, nothing fancy and intimidating... Not one of those restaurants that makes you feel that YOU should be serving your waitter... model looking w/ french accent and big heads... Not here! This place everyone will treat you like friends and offer great recommendations and smiles.
The food is delicious, the Rib Eye Steak and the grilled beef appetizer were amazing. Also the best cocktail for me is the Sake strawberry caipirinha... I could have 10 of those! Yes! I'm coming back!!!

Writing a review isn?t usually my thing, but I have to admit after tonight?s experience it is a must that I announce my satisfaction in regards of my birthday event and recognize their effort in satisfying client?s needs. We had a reservation for 20 then 6 of our friends decided that they couldn?t make it. So I had to tell the host that there are less of us than expected. I was surprised with the respond we got from the staff despise its location in the meatpacking district where everything is all about attitude. We sat at the bar since we had to wait for our friends to arrive and had a round of mojitos. The Mojitos are to die for. Honestly.. those were the best tasting mojitos I had so far No kidding!! The minute we were seated the service were very prompt, the water glass were always filled, trendy yet less stressed atmosphere which were a big plus. I had their simple salad with crispy rice and miso dressing which i am already thinking about again right now. For main i went with the double red fish which was a fillet whole red snapper in a bed of red sauce. AMAZING! After finishing the last course of our meals the adorable manager Don offered to accommodate us in the pool lounge. Music were great, ambiance were just perfect, house music with a little mainstream vocal added just perfected our night. We had a blast, I?m glad that I spent my 30th birthday at Highline. Try it for yourself!!

I made a reservation here for a friend's 22nd birthday party. I wanted somewhere that was well decorated and trendy, but was also affordable - Highline was perfect. The staff was accommodating and friendly. I was worried that the food would be just mediocre after reading some of reviews, but I found it to be great! It wasn't anything particularly special (tasted like most Thai food that I've had) but it was certainly tasty, and combined with the restaurant's atmosphere, it was well worth going. The drinks were very tasty and strong! I'm sure I'll be going back..
There is also a cool lounge downstairs that is worth checking out for an after-dinner drink.

Very trendy, well decorated restaurant. I ordered king oyster mushroom wrapped with something and the noodle inside was so dry hard, the wrapping was tough to chew. The food presentation was good but taste, I'm not quite sure. I love Thai food(lived Thailand for one year) but this place is not recommendable if you are for Thai food. Even worse, waitress chased back to our table for more tips (which wasn't that bad tip) saying that considering the area, MPD, soho, it wasn't enough.

About the spills in Highline?. I read few of reviews bellow. Want to share my story. We went to Highline one evening with few friends (4 of us). Had wonderful time. Food was very flavorful. Drinks are amazing. At the end of the evening waiter accidently spilled a bottle of beer on my boyfriend. He was vas apologizing for long time. Than manager showed up right away and told us that all appetizers and my boyfriend?s dinner and his beers (all 5 of them) are on the house. Also offered free desert. (We were stuffed) Manager was very polite?
I?ve been going to highline for years now. Would recommend this place

This place is amazing! Everytime we have a group dinner or if I have a first date this is the place to be. If you're group dinner is over 15 people you have to commit to a 50 dollar bill each, most places that's easy to do, this place you have to work at it. The food is so good and cheap for such a trendy place it's unbelievable. If you try to reserve a group of 15 or more they try to sell you this prix fix menu, don't buy into it...just tell them that you can gaurantee them a 50 dollar per person check. My favorite appetizers are the duck spring rolls. For entree's the pad thai is amazing, the panang curry, and the three mixed nuts entree is great. The portions are huge so if you're in a group one app and one entree is more than enough, esp if you're going out drinking afterwards. That's another great thing is the pool lounge downstairs, so after eating you could just go downstairs and listen to some music and have a few drinks and not have to go anywhere!

If it's a first date and you want to go somewhere nice but not spend too much because you don't know if she's worth it, go here....a bottle of wine, an app, an entree can easily be done in 60 bucks, if you look at the ambience of this place you would think you're bill would be 200 easy.

Hands Down this place is ALWAYS a winner. The staff is exceptional, prompt, and very customer oriented. Teh food is always on point especially the grand noodle...wow! The ginger mojito is beyond exceptional. I have never had a problem at this place. Oh and did I mention the prices! the only thing I hate about writing this review is that it will entice others to go...and I don't want to the place to get too well known. :)

Super cool digs in the Meat Packing District. We had a friend's birthday there, and the staff was very helpful and accomodating. And not so loud that we couldn't ear ourselves talk in the dining room. Not even a Nor'easter stopped us from going to Highline! With a reasonably priced menu, you wouldn't think to find more than standard fare. Not the case at Highline. Their decor is so cool, sleek, and modern. Everything from appetizers to desserts are creative and mouthwatering, some of which I've never seen on any other menu at similar pricing. So good-- we were a party of 11, everyone had something different, and all the dishes were fantastic....not a morsel left behind at dinner. The speciality Mojito was killer. Crisy friend calamari with the ginger avecado dipping sauce is a must have. I'll never dip them into marinara sauce again. The Tamarind mixed nut plate was heavenly. I had the coconut cheesecake....Yummy! I love this place!

Cons: Not many parking garages in the area for weekend nights

Excellent Food for the price. Great atmosphere. Courteous staff, and good drinks. I reccomend it for a date.

Yes the drinks in this place are good, we went on a Tuesday night, so it wasn't packed but we still waited a really long time for our food, even the appetizers. Speaking of food, I don't know what these people are thinking but the closest this place gets to serving Thai food is having spring rolls and peanut sauce. Plus after that food, my friends and I really did not feel well. Never going back there again.

highline's been one of my favorite places after a girlfriend took me here for my birthday. i decided this to be the perfect spot for a pre-x-mas dinner. all i can say is everyone loved it. the food was amazing except for the dessert. they were definitely better the last time i was there. they used to be made in-house, but now they're obviously not. besides that, the service was impeccable. better than some of the other restaurants in the area. i def recommend to anyone looking to have a great time in the meatpacking district without all the attitude.

When my dearest friend come to town, I took her to my favorite Thai place, Highline. What a big mistake! It ended as an unforgettable night with bad memories. Thanks to Highline!

At this point I am not talking about a service expectation which is above and beyond. I am at least expecting a manager who is responsible for the quality of the service and employees behaviours.

Not only the waiters but also the management were highly rude and not willing to help after they pour half of the plate to my friends coat. The funniest part of the night is that after he made all of us upset and left my friend without a coat in the middle of the winter, he offered to order us one drink in the bar at the lower floor. Thank you Highline. after you ruined our night, I cannot imagine what we would do without the one drink. We left the place urgently and I personally dont advice you to go to Highline if it is a special night for you..

Before writing this I glimpsed through the other reviews and saw that there is another posting from a group who experienced a similar event. So they are consistently RUDE!
A waiter spilled a ton of sauce from a dinner plate on my coat and the coat of the guy at the next table. A whole lot of sauce on both our coats.. He continued on and afterwards just brought some napkins and said sorry! In December, our coats covered in Thai food, we got a sorry! It took about 15 minutes for a manager to show up to talk to us. When he did, I wished he had never come. We had to argue about where Chicago is. I am from Chicago, and I was flying back next day. This guy refused to give me the dry cleaning money up front and kept saying bring me the bill. I say I am flying to chicago tomorrow, he says, I don't care.. It was unbelievable. At one point he was saying, I don't know where Chicago is, I live in NYC. Really! We are still speculating whether he was just an idiot who did not know where Chicago is or whether he was just horribly rude! This was by far the worst experience I had at a restaurant or any other place where you pay for service! I still cannot believe how rude they were.

Pros: Horrible service

Cons: Food is good but not good enough to be treated like that!

I tend to be skeptical about any venue that resides in the Meatpacking District. Usually Meatpacking equates to rude waiters, overpriced drinks and food, snobby clientele, and ridiculous wait times. Highline Thai is an exception to every rule: down-to-earth, friendly waitstaff and tasty, affordable food and drink offerings make this a gem in an otherwise over-hyped part of the city. One could argue that the quality of the food isn't distinctive from much other Thai in the city, but what gives Highline its advantage is the killer atmosphere and the creative cocktail list!

Highline does most of its restaurant biz on the main floor- "Land"- which has a trendy vibe to it- the low-lit area has a reddish glow that pervades the dining area; low bass notes tease your ears at just the right volume as you sip way too easily on sweet, pink cocktails from martini glasses garnished with strawberries and converse with your fellow diners as you watch pedestrians wander by through the floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the dining area.

Occasionally, the Zen-like feel (which is enhanced by trickling fountains that span the entire area of the main dining room) is interrupted by the enthusiastic singing of the waitstaff coming out with some sumptuous dessert showcased by the seductive glow of a birthday candle...the atmosphere is festive and friendly, as all the diners pipe in and cheer along.

The night I went, there were literally birthdays at every table--including ours--but the waitstaff never faltered in their enthusiasm and their service.

If you'd rather drink your dinner, never fear: the "Sea" (downstairs) and the "Air" (upstairs) are perfect for private parties! The Sea features bouncy rubber chairs and a huge fountain that spells fun times for sloppy drunks....and the upstairs "Air" Lounge has beds and sultry low-lit private booths under satiny canopies..along with a spectacular view of the Hudson.

This venue is a sure-fire win- don't miss out!

This has kind of been my neighborhood spot for awhile, consistently good drinks, food and service. They just started serving brunch on Sundays, and it has to be one of the best things happening, dining and atmosphere-wise in the city right now. My girlfriend and I have gone two weeks in a row - tried coconut pancakes with coconut custard, lemongrass steak and eggs, a thai breakfast wrap (amazing), and banana french toast. All of it was good, and the scene is really great - they have a DJ playing chill music and they try to seat everyone outside. Not to mention they fill your champagne and bloody marys up without even asking and really make it feel like a party. Love it! Plus drinks are half-priced or 2-4-1 at the bar all afternoon. The mojitos are a super-bargain at that rate. Can't wait to go again this Sunday afternoon!

We had an reservation but they still make us wait for 30 minutes. Food was tasty (fish entree special recommended) and appertizers are great. Staff were accomodating. Great for groups on upstairs (VIP room at the back) and a fun place for drinks downstairs. Nice decor and reasonably priced in the meatpacking neighborhood.

I hadn't been to Highline since it opened in spring 04 - loved it then, and still loved it when I went back again for a birthday dinner last weekend. Our large party was extremely late, but the staff was still polite and accomodating. We had good cocktails in the Pool Lounge downstairs, which has a mod, all-white decor and a cool fountain. Dinner upstairs has the same mod feel, with a few beds in the center of the room (though they can't be comfortable to eat on) go-go dancers painted on the bathroom doors, and there might have even been a disco ball hanging somewhere - it all reminded me of something out of an Austin Powers movie! The food was OK, and the prices are very reasonable! I'll definitely pay a visit to this cute Meatpacking spot again!

The duck salad and papaya salad were both great. The pad thai spring roll was flavorful but the spring roll dough was too thick. It could have been more crispy if the spring roll wrap was thinner. The duck crepe was also delicious.

I chose to go to this place for my birthday. I was highly disappointed. There were 7 of us. We each order an appetizer. Two would come out, then another 10 minutes later, then another two etc. The last two didn't come to the people who ordered them until they already had there food ( in which then we had to remind the staff of). The staff did not seem to understand a word of what we were saying, w/ exception of the waitress ( who was pleasant), which was quite aggravating. The food had a great flavour, although the "steak salad" had ONE sliver of steak! The ambiance was cool but we couldn't hear each other talk at all...

Highline doesn't take reservations, so be prepared to wait a bit on a Friday or Saturday night. That being said, they do have a nice lounge area downstairs where you can just hang out, have a seat, and relax (no more waiting out in the cold or at the crowded bar). If you do choose to hang out at the bar, take note that the drinks are horrible (but cheap by NYC standards). All that aside, the food is phenomenal, and very reasonably priced. While Highline is quite trendy, it's got some odd decor. The second floor has a section of tables, booths against the wall and short beds in the middle! Definitely worth checking out...

dinner on 1st floor (street level) a bit noisy, 2nd floor has bed-style seating that is good for dessert & drinks (do not attempt to have entree on the bed, what a mess it will be trying to eat rice dishes with sauce while half-lying down)...basement has good bar/lounge (and DJ after 10pm). decor is interesting and thoughtful, good for groups (ask for VIP room at the back of 2nd floor). food is delicious and not overpriced. Per person price with 3 course and two drinks around $45 excluding tips and tax.

I've never heard of this place until I went on a date there. The place is amazing, the it's very modern but at the same time not too pretentious. The food was delicious (I got the panang curry) and not pricey at all. The drinks were a little expensive, but well worth their price (deifnitely try the mango mojito)! Our waitress was attentive without being overbearing, and for a 9pm dinner on a Thursday night, we didn't feel rushed at all. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves thai food with a modern twist!

you get better thai food for your buck at real a thai restaurant. they kept saying 10 minutes even after 45 minutes of waiting. they had coat check - but they make you walk downstairs to check your coat and they charge you 2 dollars!!! if the 2 coat check girls were smart - they would go upstairs and get people's coat and they would make tons of tips! the crowd were NOT HOT!!! this place is a joke!

Sexy Lighting, Modern Decor and more than friendly wait staff as well as a bar tender that makes a mean apple martini. The snapper and rib eye steak were to die for. I highly recommend this place.

i've been to highline many times for drinks. co-workers said it'd be a good place to bring my friends visiting from la. it was the friday before christmas eve & we sat upstairs on the banquettes. when our server accidentally spilled some wine at our table, he cleaned it up & offered us another glass right away. nothing spilled on anyone but the manager came over & offered dessert as well. the la friends loved it. fun, accommocating staff & great food. couldn't have been more accommodating. everyone was so nice. i'm looking forward to going back. i should also mention that the drinks are always amazing. be sure to check out the pool lounge on the weekends.

You could get much better Thai food at the hole in the wall Thai place in your neighborhood. I had the ribeye and it was a shame that they ruined that nice peice of meat with their too sweet marinade/glaze. The food tried too hard to be nouveau and in the process gave up the stuff that is great about Thai food. Also, a lot of menu items are fried, even though it does not say so on the menu. The service was not very good- I was with a big group, but if they are going to automatically add 20% tip, they could at least give service worth 10%. The few things that were good- the long boat cocktail and the basil chicken (I heard from a friend about the chicken). Bottom line- if it weren't in the meatpacking, no one would go there.

My friends and I had the most appalling experience of our lives at Highline. We were sitting on the beds on the second floor, when the waiter tripped and knocked over the wine glasses on one of the tables. As a result, one of our friends sweater/shirt/pants/ bag got soaked with red wine. We were caught by surprise that no one from the restaurant apologized. When it was time for us to leave, we politely asked whether the restaurant is willing to expense our friend for her drycleaning bill. If they had said no, we would have dropped it all together, but they had the audacity to accuse one of our friends for swaying her arm, causing him to trip and knock over the glasses! They also added that we perhaps had it happen to get away from paying our bill! Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

I went based on a friends recommendation. We were seated immediately w/ reservations on a thursday night that i had made litterally an hour before dining. We had gotten the soft shell crab spring rolls and coconut crusted shrimp. Both were great. The spring rolls came w/ an amazing sauce. The shrimp were good as well but could've used a better sauce. For dinner my date had the Duck and I had some type of lemon grass sirloin. It was one of the most amazing cuts of beef i have ever had. The sauce was amazing. Her duck had a great taste to it, but unfortunately the duck had a lot of fat on the meat. Duck usually has a lot of fat on it, but even for duck our portions seemed to have much more fat than accustomed to. Overall, i really enjoyed this restaurant. Definitely going back

Highline bar is a trendy creatively designed new lounge. With beds to dink on upstairs and a glass bubble fountain downstairs the decore is as much art as scene. The drinks are somewhat pricey, and the people are usually dressed to impress, but it is not pretentious or annoying. A great place to start the night, close to Greenwich village and Chelsea, the local is good and scene is fun.

Me and three girlfriends went there for a going away party, and not only did we get a bed on the upper level right away, the staff were smiling and extemely attentive the whole entire time. The drinks were great and inexpensive, and the food was delightful as well. The decor is your typical retro-modern motif; which is easy on the eyes. For Manhattanites like us that are used to pretentious attitudes and expensive tabs, this place is definitely a nice change from the rest of the meatpacking district.

Great value for the price-- lunch is an even better value, with entree and appetizer for between $8-10 or so. The only problem is the acoustics; it can get very noisy during busier times. Trendy minimalist decor and purple upholstry. Decent vegetarian selections and fun flavor combinations, especially with the appetizers. The green tea and white chocolate dessert was interesting-- where else can you find a Thai pastry chef at an affordable restaurant? A great lunch date or place to bring an out-of-towner for a mellow meal.

I went to Highline on Sunday, July 3 with party of 6 for my birthday. We made a reservation at 7.30, but one of my friend was flying over to NYC and unfortunatelly the plane was late. A hostess was very polite and understandable. She let us sit, order some apptizerer and wait for him to arrive. We had some refreshing drinks (Flip-Flop is the best in my opinion) and a few appetizers which were great. The place was busy, but not crazy. I like the atmosphere there, very relaxing yet exciting. Good crowd, good service and food.

We went to dinner for a party of 12. The food and service were excellent. The bill was surprisingly inexpensive considering we each had appetizers, an entree, dessert and drinks (alcoholic and non) we also had 3 rounds of shots for the entire table. I really liked the beef and basil. Will definitely go back again.

We went with a group of 10 to Highline - the entire evening was fantastic. The large mojitos, though expensive, made the night start off very well. The food was fantastic, all the appertizers were great (golden chests), as were the main courses. I especially liked the Pad Thai and the Black rice towel (so I guess the noodles were the best). I would recommend this place and look forward to returning.

I just went here with some friends this weekend and we had a great experience. We had drinks (mojitos were delicious and HUGE) on the bouncey ball chairs next to the waterfall downstairs while we waited for a table. It is worth going just for the decor!. We all enjoyed our entrees and the vibe was very trendy but not pretentious, unlike a lot of other Meatpacking restaurants. Will definitely return (a HUGE compliment for me).

My second visit to Highline in a month was fantastic. Our group of 6 had a late reservation and were able to sit on one of the few beds upstairs. We ordered so much food that everyone was able to share. We had lots of drinks and a bottle of wine and our bill was $40/person. You are NOT going to find a better deal in the all too trendy Meatpacking District. I can't wait to go back again and again...

Tasty food, fun ambience and REASONABLY PRICED. Highline doesn't take reservations for under 6 people. With that said, my friend and I were seated on a Friday night within a half hour - not bad at all. Service was OK but other than that, definitely was worth it. We were nervous it was going to be a trendy place with mediocre food but were surprised how good the food was.

it more than exceeded my expectations. i came to celebrate my husband's birthday. we were a party of 8. i had been here with some girlfriends for drinks before, but never had dinner. it's one of the best values in this area. some of the best thai food i've had in the city. what i really appreciated was the friendly service & knowledgeable staff. you can't always find that in this city. i do recommend making reservations for parties of 6 or more. it gets quite crowded on the weekends. all in all it was good eats, good times and a fun atmosphere.

I went to Highline with a group of 4 for a birthday dinner on Saturday, Nov. 6th and heard about the place from a co-worker. I would suggest making reservations and being prompt as the restaurant does get packed after 7:30 pm. We ordered vegetarian dishes only, and the good dishes were the pad thai noodles, tamarind nut dish, and the basil tofu dish, along with the hard crusted spring rolls for appetizers. The waitress suggested a nice sauvignon blanc to go with our dinner. If you are a vegetarian concerned about fish and chicken broth, double check in advance if the offerings are okay for your standards. All in all, I thought it was a great dining experience, and would even consider it for a dinner date earlier in the night when it's quieter.

My boyfriend and I went there on a reccomendation. It was amaizing. Not too expensive, great food and cool atmosphere. I would go back in a heart beat. We also got seated right away at a table for two. If you want to go with a big group make a reservation. Best thai/pan asian fusion I've had in the city (it's not your typical thai restaurant).

friends had suggested i check out highline. they were pleasantly surprised at how friendly and unpretentious the service was, for a restaurant in the meatpacking district, so i figured i'd give it a shot. i have to admit it exceeded my expectations. not only was the hostess at the door friendly & approachable, the waiter was professional & well informed about the menu. he gave great suggestions. try the entree--'cast iron' shrimp, both delicious & healthy! mojitos are also really good & huge! i have to admit that they should do something about the lighting for the waterfall--it's pretty, but the lighting is such that you can't tell it's there if you're having dinner inside. it's practically invisible on the 2nd floor, but it looks great downstairs as it falls into the pool in the 'pool lounge'.

New York chic without condescention. We have been coming regularly for some time, but recently were pleasantly surprised to see that Highline has added a line of refreshingly new items to the menu. Try Fall Rolls - delicately soft and healthily refreshing or the Double Red Fish, a red snapper with spicy red sauce. We also recommend trying the special of the day - there is always something new and unexpected.
