Ratings_icons Tullio Hair Studio is Absolutely Fantastic!!

Michele S.

I have been a customer there since Mr. Tullio opened the salons in the mall. He actually cut my hair the first time I was there to show some of the girls different tricks. Although he has stopped cutting hiar, I still enjoy speaking with him when he's at the salon. Now, Joann has cut my hair for . . . (Won't give that away I promise Jo). She is the best and I trust her above all others! Tullios is absolutely the best place to have a cut and a style and other services!!! Prices are reasonable also!!

Ratings_icons Where is Robert

Sandy L.

I have been going to Tullios for a few years. Robert has always cut my hair and he is awesome. I called to make an appointment with him earlier this week and they told me in a icy tone "He doesn't work here anymore". Luckly, I know a few people that go to him, and found out that he moved to a salon in Latham called Ambiance. It's on Rt 9. So I called there to make an appointment. They couldn't have been nicer. I am going in next week. I'll write a review on Ambiance afterwards

Ratings_icons Very Professional and Top Notch

Michelle A.

I have been going to Tullio Hair Studio in Rotterdam for 3 years now and have ALWAYS been extremely pleased. They have EXCEPTIONAL service and Phil is wonderful! If you want a great hair cut with the most incredible color... ask for Phil!!! The atmosphere is friendly and the stylists are fun to talk with while they work on your hair. I recommend this salon to everyone. My opinion is to ignore the negative comments until you try it out for yourself!!! It's worth it.

Ratings_icons Great Experience!

Jon H.

I went to Tullio after I got an absolutely horrible haircut at a place I wont name. I walked in and got set up right away with Kent. They had exceptional service and Kent was great. He fixed my haircut to way beyond my expectations and everyone was very friendly. I would absolutely recommend them for anyone looking for a good cut and will definitely go back myself.
Thanks for a great experience!

Ratings_icons Sam is the best!

Laura S.

My personal experience @ the Crossgates Mall; Sam is the only one who's been able to do my hair, and my son's hair. I've been everywhere and paid over $45.00 for a very disappointing haircut. Sam knows what to do, and he has the best personality, and a beautiful heart. God Bless you!The staff @ the front desk are awesome! Thank you! People should be specific with the individual. Be fare.

Ratings_icons Buyer Beware

Michelle G.

I went to the Rotterdam Square mall location. My first instinct was to run - because frankly, the "hair stylists" didn't have good hair cuts, themselves - but I reluctantly stayed. When I told the woman what I was thinking about - she kept pointing to a picture of an actress from a D-List movie saying her hair style would look great on me. Bottom line, I walked out looking like a cross between Katie Couric & Dorothy Hamil. Nothing close to the hairstyle I had pictures of. I had to have my mother cut parts of the hair that were longer unintentionally than others. I did a better job on my barbies when I was 8!! Buyer Beware!

Ratings_icons Reality check

Mike J.

Hellooooo! You cannot make a blanket statement about this salon. There are individual stylists who are employed there by the owner. Are there issues with unprofessionalism ? Yes. Did you discuss them with the owner? I'm guessing - no. I'm not excusing the problems mentioned and possibly overblown all I'm saying is not all of the stylists are unprofessional. I have been a client of Tulio's for several years and many of the stylists have cut my hair. Some of the top stylists are : Robert, Nicole, Nathan, Kent, Katie and others I can't remember. The desk is usually covered by Maryanne or Sarah both of which have always been very polite and professional. Did some have a bad experience? In their mind, yes and that is what matters. BUT> Anonymous postings here tend to be vindictive and really should have been brought to Joe's (the owner) attention. He doesn't accept unprofessionalism and will always try to make the customer happy. Several "bad" stylists have been fired for issues such as mentioned in other posts. There are great stylists working here trying hard every day to please the customer and earn a living. They deserve more than annonymous criticism/bashing . Next time get their name and talk to Joe. You'll have a different outcome.

Ratings_icons A PAINFUL EXPERIENCE... LITERALLY

Nina N.

I would have to agree with the ladies below... this was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a saloon, from start to finish. When I walked in the two girls at the front desk were socializing and gave me a blank stare. After I finally asked them if they do waxing one girl walked me through a circus of stylists who were just sitting around, laughing, dancing around... basically not doing ANYTHING related to their job. I could hear them complaining about someone from management who had yelled at them earlier in the day as I had my eyes closed to get my eyebrows waxed. The girl doing my eyebrows was more busy talking to her associates than being focused on my face. She then proceeded to rip a huge chunk of skin under my eyebrows, which STILL HURTS LIKE A B*TCH. She pretended not to notice it until she walked me to the mirror and said "ooh... whats that... I just noticed that there..." instead of owning up and apologizing. On top of all that, her hands smelled like some kind of fried food... Really NOT a pleasant experience. Now I have a huge noticeable gash under my eyebrow which will eventually scab (yay). Don't go here if you value your face, and if you want a professional experience. This place truly is a circus.

Ratings_icons awesome experience

Sharon G.

It is a nice place. I took a swerve from my regular stylist and I enjoyed going here. It was a cheaper price than what I normally pay and I was happy with the end result and the attitude of my stylist. I took my daughters advice and I enjoyed my experience!

I have been going there for about 10 years and absolutely love them! My regular stylist is Robert and he is fabulous. He really takes the time to give you the cut you want. There was one occasion on which I got a bad cut (With a new stylist). When I spoke to Joe, the owner, he was very gracious and apologetic. He gave me my money back AND fixed my hair. That's great service.

Oh, and the bad stylist is no longer there.

Ratings_icons Ask for Jillian

Ask for Jillian. She is amazing and the only one I could vouch for. The place can get crazy...it's at the mall duh. Jillian however is a transplant from a more exclusive and well-known salon.

Ratings_icons I HATE THIS PLACE

Elizabeth A.

This place is absolutely awful. I brought in a picture of what I wanted my hair to look like, and I walked out with a completely different hair cut. Now I have bangs and I look like I'm 12 years old. I almost refused to pay for it. All the stylists are scummy and nasty and look like they've been cutting hair for about a week.

DO NOT EVER GO HERE it was terrible.

My experience with Tullio Hair was AMAZING!! My hair stylist was the nicest person I have ever met and my turned out better than I could have ever expected. The people there are so professional and really know what they're doing. Such a nice owner too, was very welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to give them my service again!!

Ratings_icons WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL.

Mariah C.

The people were rude, the place was a real circus, everything was a big chaos, the "hair stylists" were loud and bitchy.

I got my hair wrecked because my hair colorist did not listen to what I wanted. I wanted blonde and goldy (what I had coming in) and I got out red and platinum/ash. I got my hair died twice, and then highlighted (or better said: bleached out), then "toned" (or died) twice on top of that. Overall: 5hours!!! Ridiiiiculous!!!

AFTER ALL THE MISTAKES THEY DID, THEY HAD THE BALLS OF ASKING ME $175!!!

Now my hair looks grey with red tones, it is completely destroyed, I'm depressed and bankrupt.

Oh, and plus: they were talking bad about me, and I could see them and hear them! SO RUUUUDE!!!

GOING TO THE HAIR DRESSER SHOULD BE A PLEASANT AND RELAXING EXPERIENCE. THIS WAS THE TOTAL OPPOSITE!
DID YOU KNOW THAT MY "HAIR COLORIST" SAT ME DOWN AND DIDN'T EVEN SAY "HI" NOR ANYTHING FOR 15 MINUTES?! HE WAS AROUND ME, JOKING AROUND WITH OTHER COLLEGUES, DRINKING, AND NOT CARING ABOUT ME AT ALL, ME WHO HAD AN APPOINTMENT!

PROS: Nice ONLY over the phone to make you a appointment.
CONS: RUDE, UNORGANIZED, DIRTY, MESSY, BITCHY, ABUSIVE, LOUD.

Ratings_icons A great experience

carrie j.

Getting my hair cut always makes me nervous. Yesterday at Tullio Hair Studio was different from the start. I felt welcomed. I had stylist who gave me a full consultation, and even before we even got started , I knew we were on the same page. My hair looked great. She showed me exactly what I needed to use, to get the texture and volume (I thought was only achieved on the magazine model). She showed me how to use the blowdryer, and guess what, I look great today also !!!!!!!!!!! I was able to do my hair just like my stylist did. I highly reccomend a visit to this salon!!!!!!!!!

PROS: educated, helpful, talented staff

Ratings_icons Amazing Experience

Debby M.

When i came across this salon, i knew i should give it a try. I walked in and immediatly the man who owns this salon was extremely friendly and made me feel very comfortable. They had an amazing variety of products and the stylists seemed very good. I left with a new haircut but more importantly a new salon that i have been going to for some time now and i havent left with a bad cut yet. I hope people read this and try this salon because i have had an amazing experience. All my life I have been looking for a reliable salon, and i finally found one!

PROS: professional, reasonably priced, talented

Ratings_icons Not a good experience.

Kelly B.

I moved to the Albany area in June 05, and didn't know where to get a good haircut. I tried Tullio because they LOOKED classy. I went in with a picture of what I wanted, which was a very simple design. The stylist I was paired with looked like she was about 16 and just walked out of beauty school. She cut hair like it too. I literally cried over the results and have been trying to grow my hair out since. Spend the extra cash and go to a salon where they know what they're doing. If you're looking for cheap prices and don't care what your hair will look like, then Tullio would be okay for you.

Ratings_icons Convienent Location in mall, reliable service

Tara B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,270

This salon located in Crossgates Mall downstairs offers full service for hair for both men and women. they also have an array of products which aren't too expensive compared to other salons.

The hairstylists are all very good, having tried a bunch of them They never seem to mess up my haircut. They are reliable in that sense.

The atmosphere is friendly and the stylists are fun to talk with while they work on your hair.

PROS: Convienent location in Mall, Inexpensive haircuts
CONS: Sometimes there is a wait, unless you have an appointment
