As traditional as I have seen in Westhampton Beach. Nice environment. Classic fine sushi - very fresh fish. A bit pricey but the quality is the best

Of course in the summer time, there is going to be a long wait, but I have to tell you it is worth it. The building is pretty small, but who cares!! You are there for the great food. Just this summer while I was waiting to be seated, a couple walked in after my boyfriend and I. The couple was aggrevated that there was a wait at Sushi 1. They decided to leave and go to Tony's ( also located in Westhampton Beach) claiming that it was just as good. I laughed. I've been to Tony's before ONLY because Sushi 1 isn't open on Mondays. Tony's has the same stuff on their menu as every other sushi restaurant. What is so great about Sushi 1 is that there are things that they offer that you can't find anywhere else. Some of my favorites not on the menu are the Kaniko salad and the sauteed soft shell crab. The crab can be an appetizer or meal. I also love the spicy yellowtail roll and the sauteed scallops (both are currently on the menu)/ The staff is friendly and courteous and offer up great suggestions on what to order when you can't seem to make up your mind. Some days in the winter time, they offer free sake (if you spend at least $20 per person). I used to work at the Westhampton Country Club, and we were always hiring Kimi and his wife (the owners) to come in and set up a sushi bar for parties and even some weddings held at the club. Give Sushi 1 a try....I promise you will love it. The great food and service will keep you coming back for more.

Pros: fresh food and friendly waitstaff. I eat there enough, that they sometimes even remember what I order

Cons: sometimes a long line..but you can order it to go. Also, not a very big partking lot, but you can park along the street

After coming across the lies in the previous review, I felt the need to clarify a few issues and give you a better opportunity to make a decision for yourself, based on truth. I have been an employee at Sushi 1 for over 11 years and know this restaurant inside and out. We have always served nothing but the freshest, high quality fish, and in the cleaniest of manners. Contrary to what was stated in the last review, the food manager certificate, verifying the owner's knowledge in sanitary food handling, does not expire until 2009, and the health dept. certification is renewed each year.
You can't fake freshness, and you'll realize that in all of our meals.
While I do witness plenty of new people all the time coming in to try the variety of dishes we prepare, I mostly encounter the same smiling faces of returning satisfied customers. They are my sound proof to great service and delectable cuisine. And yes, although the restaurant does get crowded on weekends through the summer season, this only further supports what the consumers demand!
The proud owners of this restaurant for the past 14 years, Kimi and Yoko, can be found working every night to ensure the great name they created is witheld everyday. Come in and say hello to them, and the rest of the Sushi 1 family, and spoil yourself with some of the best sushi around!

If u want somewhere nice and clean to eat, i recomend somewhere else, i personally got a chance to work here and you may believe everything is fresh and clean but i disagree, salads are made and what ever is not done by the end of the day is saved in the back of the refigerator and used a week later, the health hazard in this place is very high, the health codes are dated back to 1999 and have not been renewed, just a warning thank you

I've tried all of the sushi restaurants around - this one is my favorite. They have a few things on the menu that I can't find anywhere else. The owner is usually there and is very nice. Great food.

Sushi on Long Island can be really good, thanks to all of the fresh fish constantly coming in. The family behind Sushi 1 once ran the sushi bar in town, moving to this restaurant a few years ago, where they can serve not only fresh fish at…
