We go there occasionally and the burgers are pretty good, and hefty.

The fries are just ok.

The variety otherwise is sparse, ie no side orders, no vegetables, and lame deserts.

For a beer and a burget it is ok.

As others have noted

I am a burger junkie. I could eat a burger everyday if I knew it would not kill me. The cheeseburger at JG Melon is simply amazing. \r

I heard up and down how great the food (especially there burgers) was at J G Melons, so I had to give it a shot. Overall my experience wasn't that good. The tables are jammed into the back of this spot so you're practically sitting on the people's laps beside you. Also, there is no children's menu so forget bringing the kids. Also, they don't take credit cards. Come On Folk!!! Get with the times. Is it the 5% charge from the credit card company that bothers them or the fact that then have a electronic tracking of all of their revenue. Who knows, but either way it's a hassle. I'd rather go down the street or to another spot.

After waiting nearly an hour to be seated (much longer than the host had told us) with our watered down drinks, we were squeezed into a corner table. The burgers were good, but the price made me cringe. The poor service and passable food

I like the burgers, even though I think $8.00 is very pricey for a simple burger without fries. The fries are expensive at $3.50. The bartender sucks and has an attitude. Will just let you sit with an empty glass until you say something.

Still the best burger in New York. This old school establishment is a great place to talk with friends, grab a beer and a cheeseburger with fries. Also a great after work place. The prices have stayed somewhat old fashioned as well, and so has the process of paying - - credit cards are not accepted.
