I love to visit OBMC in the summer especially for Oyster Fest and St. Roccos, it has been a family tradition to go by boat for years (weather permitting). The mooring field is spectaclular and launch service great!! We do cocktails then take family/friends to town. Its an easy walk to the sleepy village which has a few great restaurants which cater to a demanding north shore customer base (food is always good). I have used the service there and have been very happy.

I've spent about 6 or 7 seasons at OBMC. Great location and friendly staff. As far as the comments about John are concerned, he has his moments like the rest of us, but is generally fair and reasonable. Keep in mind they do have a pretty demanding clientele and perhaps management may be a bit understaffed to keep everyone happy. But I think they do a pretty good job considering the high expectations.

I have kept my boat in Oyster Bay for over 25 years. A great location encumbered with bad management at OBMC. The only place available. A good launch service - but increasingly expensive. The mechanics are friendly but not particularly knowledgeable. The service manager, John, is difficult to deal with. Service is undependable and untimely as well as overpriced. Priority of service is given to a few very wealthy patrons- at the expense of regular long-term customers. I was told that I would be put on a schedule in order to receive service which made me wait for almost a month to have my electrical system checked out. In that time - July/August, I could not use my boat. I finally took it to another facility and had it fixed overnight. Another time I had my motor serviced there and waited over 10 days. The next day the boat broke down again. This brought an end to my summer vacation. If you question service, expenses, or the timetable, use caution, John has been known to respond with menace, anger, threats and intimidation. He has forced some former employees and others to abandon the area altogether. I have been forced to rely on OBMC because of my location. If there is another option for service or winterizing (again - very expensive) I'd go there.

My personal expierence with John and his able staff has only been great. He and they have always treated my wife Pat and I (Harry D.)with the utmost respect and friendliness. We moored our sailboat INGOT at the marina for over 10 years and were NEVER dissatisfied. On some occasions we required some repairs and had excellent results. Are the prices high? Well first, it is the NORTH SHORE! and more importanitly, Oyster Bay town and the harbour with its easy access to the Long Island sound makes it not only a world class port of call but a beautful hardour also.My wife and I both always felt fortunate to be able to do our sailing there. On occasion we have seen customers like the 2 negative reviewers who are extremely demanding as if they both must feel they are very important people. Well again, it is the North Shore.I HIGHLY recommend the yard and in particularl JOHN.

Though Oyster Bay is an idyllic location for both sail and power boaters, the marina itself is not. The manager of OBMC, John, has a mercurial temperament, and is prone to frequent and unpredictable mood swings. He has been known to slam anchors on the floor of his office, and hurl foul language without any provocation. His ranting tirades usually appears when a customer questions his exorbitant bills. His repair crews, though well-intentioned, don't know much, and do more damage than good.
It is unfortunate that John has control of a marina, which, in different hands, could be a pleasant entity. Hopefully, some day this will change and the owners will hire a more stable and pleasant person to run their facility.

We have been loyal customers of Oyster Bay Marine Center for over 5 years and have spent thousands of dollars on repairs and launch services. However their general manager John does not understand what customer service is and is incapable of running a solid business. They hold a monopoly on public boat launch in Oyster Bay and more dissatisfied customers should stand up for the ridiculous treatment they have of their customers. Not all is negative, the launch service although a bit pricey is great. Just stay AWAY from repairs or winterization you will get hosed.

If you are looking for a mooring on the north shore then this is your marina. Excellent marina, moorings are not placed too closely together and launch boat is world class in its efficient picking up and dropping off of people. Very close to town; a short walk. Worth visiting.
