My kid brother & I gave this res quite a few visits to improve unfortunately it didn't happen food was still horrible, seeing mice go past my chair while I was eating lunch didn't help either. I was trying to discuss it with the mgr he did not want to listen glad it is getting replaced with a new res opening up tomorrow afternoon called the cocina taco res.

this is probably the worst Indian res ive ever been to in the heights. The wait staff was not helpful with the service or explaining the menu. The res is not kept clean there were mice going past my table. I was trying to go to the lavatory before leaving came across a few more mice in there as well, this place is real grotesque don't know how they stay open. I ended up wrapping up my food to go wanted to get out of there real quick will not return here to sit down now I know the truth as to why they are not busy at 2pm in the afternoon on a Fri because of there filth mice problems.

I cant believe this dump is still open, remember when it was under another name & it still didn't work. Nothing has changed since the same guy changed the name & did minor renovations to make the place look new. There are still mice crawling around everywhere. The prices have doubled since I ate a few years ago when it was Amin res.The food is OK nothing innovative or fancy. The wait staff made quite a few mistakes with my order which turned me off. It was difficult for me to finish the chicken tiki that I ordered when I spotted another mouse going past my feet felt really grossed out don't think ill be back here will go to my usual place brick lane on Smith st bye bye Gandhi place good luck trying to stay open.

This is the most intolerable restaurant I ever ate in. I came for a Sunday lunch with my girlfriend Wendy place wasn't busy yet it took a while for a waiter to get our order & give us something to drink. I saw mice all over the store which was degrading. I remember when it was Amin a few years ago same problems there too sorry don't believe in three times the charm saying with certain places maybe the building might be bad luck since the previous res had the same problems whatever the case may be me & my girl are not going to eat here again sorry.

I made a vast effort to like Palace and commuted from sunset pk just to eat here, it turned into an absolute nightmare. I saw rats inside the store and in the ladies room when I had to use the bathroom. I remember when this was an Indian restaurant under another name quite a few years ago and with the 20% off they have offered with there dishes gives me the idea they are desperate to stay open because no matter how many sales you offer every so often if you still have roaches and rats in your place you wont stay open long. It is sad because the waiter was a nice guy and felt bad about our complaints about the tikki masala being over cooked when we were there last Sun night gave us 80% off the check even though we had a few drinks, another attempt to see if we would come back next time wrong felt grossed out and annoyed ended up going to raga on 142 Smith st also known as brick lane changed there name recently had a better eating experience there sorry.

I made a big effort to like this res but it didn't work that way. The menu was pricy and the servers were inexperienced in terms of how to help you. The chicken was OK but nothing too special the thing that got me the most was when I went to use the bathroom found a dead rat in there. I also found two water bugs by the door on my way out. This place has a water bug problem this is unreal.
I don't know how they stay open. I'm sorry will half to try Balucci's on Henry st heard lots of positive feedback about them.

Gandhi palace is the most grotesque and most vast expensive restaurant on Montague st. I had a dinner with my wife that cost us $40.00 dollars for the two of us. The food hasn't really changed it still the same for the prices they have been charging, what we mean by that is we remember when Amin was there last year until the store was renovated and had the name changed. I half to be honest nothing has changed it is the same people serving the same junk food and still keeping the res dirty. I was trying to enjoy my chicken until I felt grossed out by a few rats running by our table. I went to the bath room and noticed 4 cockroaches on the floor. I don't know how they stay open must have a cheap rent or otherwise they would have been closed down already. The service was at times slow and inattentive. The waiter would forget our stuff three different times. Am sorry it is not worth the time and trouble to walk up those steps to a nightmare of filth. My wife even saw a few roaches on the stairway outside the door.

My boyfriend and myself really made an effort to like this store but no matter how hard we tried it just didn't work out at all. We sat down it took a while for the waiter to get us menus and water. The meal was vastly priced for two of us and the chicken didn't taste so good it was getting on the stale side. The issue of seeing a few rats running underneath our table didn't please us either. This restaurant was a real dump tried to use the ladies room almost slipped so much water on the floor and garbage. I also found a few dead water bugs. Gandhi palace as far as me and my friend were considered has alot of shaping up to do this was the worst Sunday night our tonight that we ever had and the waiter didn't even say thank you have a good night he just threw the check on our table and took off how rude of him and the store.

I have a friend who lives on Clinton st and when I go to his place to hang out we call different stores for delivery, apparently this place has bad delivery service we call in the early afternoon for an order it takes over an hour and a half to get here we were starving. The delivery arrived in our building but it took the young man 15 min to finally get to our apt was he lost? I don't understand this place and to make matters worse he smelled. A week later we tried to give palace another chance by coming for dinner last Sunday, what do we see while we are looking at our menus 4 cockroaches running around us so we got up and took off and went to Balucci's on Henry st and cranberry instead better store.

Iam inclined to believe that despite renovation and opening up under a new name you would think the ambiance would improve wrong nothing changed. The store is still dirty saw 6 dead water bugs around the store while I was eating felt grossed out. It cost me and my date $30.00 for the dinner and the portions are very small don't think we will dine here again.

I found it hard to believe me and my mom came all the way from Carrol Gardens to dine here. We sat by the door felt a draft, in the opposite side of the store a young couple just left. We wanted to move seats it was difficult to get the wait staff to help us move our menus, waters and other stuff we had in our hands. The wait staff was rude didn't want to hear that our chicken was over cooked and burned. The roach dilemma that amin had Gandhi Palace quite to my surprise started to get it too saw 4 roaches running around. I will never come back here ever would rather go to Raga on smith st and Bergen street.

I had dinner with my brother to see how it is because its been a while, quite to my surprise I saw a rat crawling around our table felt grossed out even though we took a look at the menu and drank our waters we decided to walk out and go to Raga Indian cuisine on 142 Smith street which is cleaner and much cheaper in price.

I tried to give this place a few chances before I stopped coming here.
I arrived for an order to go of shrimp curry with a lassi drink, waited almost 45 min really got me annoyed and walked out. I decided to give them another chance by coming back with a friend to have dinner the evening before thanksgiving what a night mare a roach walked on top of our table and another one was on the floor. I heard from residents they have this kind of reputation. You think that just because they renovated and opened under the name Gandhi Palace that they will be a hit and the past will be forgotten sorry not convinced wont be returning.

I had dinner with my boyfriend on new years eve, it was horrid the tandoori chicken was burned and tasted really stale. We had to replace our drinks twice because they were bland. I remember when this was Amin last year newly renovated and turned into Gandhi Palace. The renovation may be new but the problems are still the same I remember experiencing the same issues with the other store. The filth issues are still there junk all over the floor saw roaches crawling along my table which grossed me out. I will not be back here I will go to Amin on 7 ave in park slope cleaner store and better cooked food and prices.

I wanted to give Gandhi palace a chance which happens to be there new name now, remember coming last year when it was amin. I realized what a mistake I made employees bump into you with garbage bags one had a small hole in it and some sauce got on my pants as I was walking out. The soup I had was OK but way over priced. I respect the fact that this store had a renovation and must have cost money but it wasn't necessary to raise prices 6x as high. I felt like I was paying Manhattan prices wont be coming back and the employees are not friendly.

I remember when Amin was there last year until they renovated and changed there name to Gandhi Palace. The store is nicely renovated and the same people are still there but certain things didn't change.
The service is very slow and rush through things. The food comes after an hour of waiting we eat and feel grossed out seeing roaches roaming around the place. I really wanted to give this place a chance figuring it would do better then Amin, buddy and I thought wrong will never come back here to eat. This is really a roach infested store.

The food here is terrible. Everything we tried was over-salted. Some things were overcooked and dry. Others were overcooked and falling apart. The yogurt/chickpea appetizer didn't taste fresh. None of the food we had was properly spiced, so much of it lacked in flavor. I will try to remember my experience, so as never to come back here. One of the worst restaurant experiences of the last year for us.

On top of it, the waiter was disrespectful and kept coming on to my wife (yes, seriously). We couldn't wait to leave. (Also, they accept credit cards, but ask you to pay in cash. Not a big deal, but strange, and I think people should know about it before coming here.)

Oh did I mention the cherry on top -- when we finished our meal, a cockroach crawled across our table just as the plates were getting cleared away.

Pros: none.

Cons: Food, creepy waiter, cockroach, too much salt...

I always go for Chicken Malai, Meat Samosa, pouri bread with mango chutney. Love it. I don't go often so it's understandable I get what I know I love.

Friends have also found the food favorable. Their palate is a bit more extensive than mine and from what I can tell, they have enjoyed the place. A little on the high end price-wise but with decent service and atmosphere.

Great find!

Lets face some reality the only reason this place is still open is because when it comes to indian food theres nobody else around the others closed up due to high rents or not enough foot traffic. This res stinks they didnt serve me right. I had misunderstandings with waiters once before, when i went to the ladies room and came back my food was was gone and table cleared. I was only haif done whats wrong with these people found my check on the table and asked the server why are you in a hurry to get me to leave the place? I believe in giving a res 3 chances before i stop going this is the third and last time these people have done enough and on top of it the res is dirty saw a couple of rats crawl out of the kitchen.

Its unfortunate to see a place like this where the wait staff sits you down but yet the table is still dirty and their is garbage underneath the table. It also smells missed the other two indian res that were on atlantic ave but the rents must have gotton high because they are not there anymore and we are stuck with this rat hole of a place this is not a way to run a business get professional help mr owner.

I could not eat in this place again. some of the staff were rude and body odor problems. I believe some of the reviewers when they said the place was dirty. I saw roaches crawling under my chair. I saw the waiter blowing his nose in front of me while i was eating. I was served coffee and the top of my cup had some dirt on it. I hope the health dept comes for these peope because they are really out there it surprised me that they stayed open this long on Montague street!

had a bad feeling when I entered and found the waiter sneezing over a table, but then the couple next to me left when they saw a large crawling insect, and i looked around and the place is nasty. when i told management i was going because the place was unsanitary, his response was "all restaurants in new york are dirty". this place really does deserve to go out of business. wish i checked reviews before going.

I live in the building that Amin is located. I at here once when I first moved in, and honestly wasn't impressed at all. However, I soon saw buckets of food left on the floor in the back hallway (including raw chicken), cooks smoking cigarettes in the kitchen (which rises up through the floors into my apartment), and many roaaches, I don't give this place a second thought. It's a shame because I really love Indian food. It's kind of embarrasing when I order delivery from another Indian resaurant in Brooklyn and they come to the door right by the entrance to Amin. I won't say the name of this other restaurant, because that would just seem like an alterior motive to this review. My landlord wants them out of the building but is kind of stuck with them. I called the NYC health dpt. several times, and when they finally got around to coming out, I was told they were cited with several violations and fined. Seriously....I would not give this place your business, even if you think the food is passable.

This place has the worst delivery i have ever experience. I ordered several times and the only issue prior to my most recent is that it normally take over an hour to get the food and they dont tell you this when you place your order. The last and final time I ordered from them they sent a completely different order from that I placed and after i paid the delivery guy and realized this I called them immediately. Their response was they ran out of the dishes I ordered and "tried to call me back" (not true!) and then sent us their "special dishes". $30 worth of special dishes might I add. I demanded they send the delivery guy back since he had just left and could have literally been on my block still and the guy continued to argue with me that hed take care of me next time i ordered. I assured him there would not be a next time. This is truely a first for me in take out and I suggest never ordering delivery from them. As for their food, when I ordered what I wanted on other occasions, the food was decent for the price. However, with delivery they are disorganized, rude and not helpful at all.

This review relates to the 92 7th Avenue location:
The rudest and most condescending waiter I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. He was impatient from the start, although there were only two only tables occupied, and each of them was in mid-meal. When my wife asked him about one or two of the selections available on the "dinner for two" portion of the menu - which indicates that seafood dishes are excluded - he gave an answer which seemed either unnecessarily abrupt or simply the result of misunderstanding the question. I initially believed it was a simple misunderstanding, but when he came to take our order - he first took my daughter's order - it became clear that there had been no "misunderstanding": he was just plain rude and abrupt. The menu specifically stated that any two choices of entree were permitted, with the exception of seafood dishes. However, in fact, only three specific chicken dishes - out of the entire menu - were actually permitted, with NO other dishes permitted. He said (and this is a direct quote): "We changed the menu. It is our decision. It is our choice." We then made our "decision" and our "choice": we left.

Since your other reviewers generally indicate that the food is mediocre in any event, I suspect this choice was no great loss to us.

Well, despite the mostly negative reviews of this place, I went ahead and got delivery from them. I ordered chicken vindaloo, the delivery took about an hour, and it cost me $13 with tip.

The food was very hot, so I could tell that it didn't sit around after being cooked. Chicken vindaloo should be really spicy, with lots of chicken and potatoes in a thick sauce. The spiceness definitely met my standards, although there were almost no potatoes. There was, however, a lot of chicken. The sauce was thick and less greasy than most places, which is good, but more sugary, which is bad. The overall flavor was good.

This place is local for me, and I will continue to order from them...at least until I find somewhere better.

I just wrote a scathing review of Amin's neighbor, Kapadokyu, and it occurred to me that when something is great I never even think about reviewing it. So: This is a terrific little place with great atmosphere and the sweetest waiters. Highly recommended.

Although the prices are kind of high for lunch the atmosphere is nice. It's not that crowded and the staff are very nice. I wouldn't go for dinner though cause it gets too crowded and the takeout at night is very slow. The food is not the greatest but if you don't want to travel to Curry Row in New York City, it will do.

Three of us had dinner at Amin on December 27 and it was quite an enjoyable experience. We thought the food was delicious and reasonably-priced, our server was very attentive and sweet-mannered, we had a window table, and it was quiet. We'll definitely return!

I've been to Amin several times. It wouldn't rank high in terms of authenticity, but it seems to be fairly consistent, nothing really awful, and really, are there any excellent Indian contenders in brooklyn? Service is decent (good for Indian), and I was never rushed. This is a good place to ease newbies into westernized Indian.

Montague Street, which ends at Montague Terrace with its gorgeous view of the Manhattan Skyline and its residents like Barbara Streisand, is Brooklyn's version of The Village. In fact, in the last decade, the area has become just as trendy - and just as expensive.

It's understandable, then, that this Indian restaurant is far from cheap. Its target market is mostly the upscale white residents of the area and lawyers and judges on their lunch breaks from the nearby Court Street.

The food, though not as authentic as a real connosseur of Desi food would prefer, is very good. Staple dishes like aloo gobi (which is particularly juicy), various masalas and biriyani, are very well prepared and full of flavor, though not as spicy as they would originally be.

The ambiance is beautiful. The second-floor restaurant looks out on the old street; the walls are lovingly painted, and the music is unassuming and quiet but adds to the mood.

If you are a real connosseur of Indian food, this restaurant might seem a bit too bland. But it's perfeft if you want to take out your less initiated friends and introduce them to ethnic foods: they will fall in love the flavors without being scared off by the fire-in-the-belly spiciness.

PROS: Great location, flavorful food, great service
CONS: A bit pricey; authenticity is toned down for American taste palate

Before Curry Leaf opened around the corner, Amin was the only Indian rest. around and they became all too comfortable with that monopoly. The food lacked any real resemblence to Indian cuisine, the staff was down right nasty and it was a miserable experience overall.

My boyfriend and I order in from Amin at least 3 times a month and we have never had any complaints. Delivery is always quick and friendly, even when it's pouring out, the prices are reasonable, and the food is always hot and wonderful. We are definitely fans!

Amin's main selling point is that it's the only Indian restaurant in the area. It's a rather important selling point when you have a craving for chicken tikka or curry. The food is nothing to write home about. The service is uneven ... it really depends who you get. I'm no longer surprised when the waiters forget to bring me dishes/drinks that I've ordered. However, once in a blue moon, they throw in a little extra which is nice. In all cases, service is slow but it's not the waiters fault ... the kitchen can't seem to handle more than a few orders at a time. The prices won't faze you if you're used to Manhattan prices. Overall, Amin can be infuriating at times but it's the only game in town.

Yeah, it's maybe 10-15 percent too expenive, but the food is fine, and the atmosphere is a little more relaxed than on 6th st. Certainly less stuff hanging from the ceiling. Good for delivery if you live close.
