The quality of the food here has slowly gone downhill. It used to be that lunch was pretty good and had a wide selection of dishes. But today, most of the foods taste bland and it barely justifies the high price they charge. I guess

We were dinning at East Buffet at Main Street, Flushing Sunday 6/20/10. This place is dirty, floor was sticky, table clothe has hole in it. Food was not as good as used to be. After dinner the waiter came to us and ask us to leave as they were people waiting. One of the bus boy acting like gangster was so rude that he practicully yelling at us to leave. We were really humiliated by these people. My wife leave with tears in her eyes.

I went to this HORRIBLE place with my wife, 2 daughters and the family of my sister in law on 01/16/10 afternoon. When I was eating the ice cream, I felt a horrible pain in my tongue. When I pull that SHARP "thing" off my mouth, it was a SHARP chinaware SPLINTER!!! My blood spilled on the table (see the pictures) and the waiters only offered me a glass of water. They did NOT offer to call an ambulance or doctor!!!

I was however glad that it did NOT happen to my children since they were eating the ice cream originating from the same machine!

The *BEST* of all things was they STILL gave us the check and EXPECTED us to pay!!! I was calling 911 and one chinese waitress (NO ENGLISH PLEASE...) came over and told us to pay!

I can't imagine how RUDE people in this place are!!! It reminds me immediately to all the poisonous toys, milk, candies and other products from that country!!!

I called 911 and two police officers came over and took a note of what has happened. Even though the police officers got the owner to move his ass out of his office to my table, he did NOT apologize at all, NEITHERr did his managers and waiters!!! I have also filed a complaint to the Department of Health! I'm gonna sue this restaurant!

Obviously they always forget that they are NOT doing business in their home country China and they think they can always HARM people in the U.S like they always to the people in China.

Pros: NOTHING good about this DAMN HORRIBLE place!!!

Cons: You DON'T want to get yourself and children hurt by them

The quality of this restaurant has decreased significantly over the past several months. It's also much cheaper than it used to be.. but you get what you pay for.... actually you get a lot less than what you pay for. Most of their food is not fresh, and the selection is very limited. Also if you decide to eat here... make sure you know where the restroom is... because chances are, you'll find yourself running there at least once (if you know what I mean). Do yourself a favor, and go to the Long Island one instead.

Pros: convenient location

I used to come for dining and last time my friend decided for wedding party.
The party was worst, un-coordinated, very-rule manager (fat, short hair, wearing eyeglasses, cannot speak English well). The manager wrote the agreement in chinese, so no one can read it. Finaly on the day, they told us that we wanted red color for the table clothes and everything instead white color as we requested. The manager told us we can use the projector without extra charge, finaly we got extra charge for it because it is not on the agreement. Anyway, they changed all agreement.
The funny things, he requested to sign that if there is any body got toxicity, that is not belong to East Buffet. They force you to do it on the day when my friends got the party, so there is no choice not to sign it.
BECAREFUL if you want to make party in this place. Not recommended for the party.

Okay everyone should stop exaggerating and saying its a horrible place and other gossips. I've been to many authentic places and trust me its not dirty or a horrible experience or place. The food is absolutely amazing, prices are descent especially for all you can eat lobster, seafood and much more!!!

So I would advise to go there yourself rather then being influence by the comments, the one located in flushing has a lot of space and room its not as narrow as the one in Long Island.

This place should be condemned. I took my dad here for Father's Day thinking it was a nice place because of all the wonderful reviews on another site. What a mistake. I don't know how this place passes inspection. The floor was filthy and sticky. It stunk like urine near the dessert table. I glanced into the kitchen and noticed the floor was very greasy with food particles all over it. Aside from all this, my daughter found a hair in her custard.

I found things crawling around the cash register, god knows what might be crawling around the kitchen. The food quality is horrible, long lines(sushi line, peking duck line, grill line) people fighting for people, rude management. The night got worst and worst. They charge us extra for staying longer than 1.5 hours. I complaint to them and told them about the long wait on the lines. They didn't care. Just like the other consumer, I was told to pay and leave. DO NOT EAT AT THE THIS RESTAURANT.

This has been my worst restaurant experience ever. During their "half price special" they got rid of all the good food and only left the nasty noodles and cheap frozen food. When I complaint they ignored me and told me to leave, pay and file a complaint. They only care about their money, no consumer service at all. I'm never coming back here again.

I first went to East 3 years ago and it was ok. But since then they've slowly raised prices and put in ridiculous policies, such as a surcharge for every 10 mins. you stay there after 1 hour (they've cancelled this policy recently probably because of customer outcries), removing the good items from the menu such as the grilled to order steaks and seafood. I'm even annoyed by their mandatory tip that is included in the bill because you get the food yourself and the only thing the waiter does is get you drinks and even that is slow. In the past year I've been there maybe 2 times.
I decided to check this place out this weekend because I haven't been there in a while but I will never go back. They've added an additional 10% "operation charge" to the bill, on top of the mandatory 15% tip, now you have an extra 25% charge on the bill (added pretax so you pay tax on that 25% also). When I asked what that 10% was for, I was told it was to cover the cost of the knives and forks. Hmm, doesn't EVERY other restaurant provide knives and forks without charging their customers extra for this "service" ?!?!? The bill ended up being $45 per person. For that money there are much better places to eat. With the decrease in the variety of food available and the unreasonable charges, East has effectively removed themselves from list of places I will frequent. For that money I would much rather go to a number of places in Chinatown and get better food for the same money. Places that won't add ridiculous charges to the bill either.

Pros: Still have the duck

The BEST place for Peking Duck, and it's ALL YOU CAN EAT! WHAT A DEAL! It comes with free hot-pot/ shabu-shabu at your table, plus there are TVs and I was able to watch the Superbowl game while I got my eats on!!

I have traditionally avoided buffet restaurants because I find the quality to be terrible, but my attitude changed once I ate at the Harvest Buffet in Little Neck. The quality, freshness and variety at that restaurant is incredible. I figured that I would try to find something comparable in the New York City area, but East Buffet is NOT that restaurant. On a scale of 1 to 10 with Harvest Buffet being a 10, I would rate East Buffet as a minus 1. Most of the food is old and cold and simply unappetizing. The sushi bar offerings are limited and again appear not to be fresh. The items from the grill were not being prepared in any appreciable quantity. In general, the food quality is terrible and there is not much variety. This is a restaurant that I will never again visit. The cost is the same as Harvest Buffet, but clearly the value is NOT there.

I was there for "hot-pot" buffet with my family. I would NEVER go back again even if the meal is for FREE.

The restaurant is dirty and the marble floor is greasy in all serving areas (all along the buffet tables).

Time Limit - only have 1hr and 30 min for hot-pot buffet.

Food is not enough. Everyone was fighting for food.

Food quality is low. The cheapest grade.

Short on cleaned bowls. All of us had to wait more than 10 min. to have a cleaned bowl to mix the spice and soy sauce for the hot-pot. When I asked the waitress for assistance to see if she can get me few bowls from the kitchen. She told me there's nothing she can do because she doesn't clean the dishes. And she said if I can't have the food without a bowl then I shouldn't be eating. I have never eaten in a restaurant with such a poor manner/ service.

Free beer - We asked at least 3 waiters/waitresses and no one has the bottle opener there .

Free 2 hours parking.

This buffet had many offerings, which appeared to be well-liked. The buffet tables were heavily flooded w/ restaurant patrons. The dishes were diverse and aplenty. The raw bar for hot-pot table-side cooking was an interesting & fun touch to the dining experience. The sushi bar was highly popular swarming w/ diners. While I was enticed by the wide variety of seafood offered, I found that lil' of the seafood items I ate tasted really fresh. The most disturbing factor was that the brick floor surrounding the islands of buffet tables was so greasy that I was terrified I would slip and fall. I realize this is a very popular eating establishment, but if a restaurant's floor nearest the food is that slimy, it makes the whole experience unappetizing. And I left feeling like I didn't get my $27 buffet money's worth.

My experience was much better than most of the reviews here would indicate. The staff was pretty attentive, and the food was moderately good (not the best Chinese I have ever had, but certainly much better than the worst). The ingredients were fresh, the serving area was clean and attractive, and the preparation was good. However, there are two things that may have been key differentiators for me. The first is that I was with a Chinese family that was speaking Mandarin the whole time. The second is that we went into the dining area on the left at the top of the stairs. The other areas (on the right, and downstairs) were both a madhouse so I would guess that the staff was probably overloaded and the best food was probably scarce in both of those areas.

So, despite everyone's miserable reviews on service, it's to be expected when you're dining at a chinese buffet style setup. There will be Chinese people cutting lines, kids running around with food sliding off their plates, large parties and loud conversation. I've lived in the neighborhood for YEARS and have watched it morph into a mega chinatown. It's a cultural divide and this is how things are done here. As far as the food, well it's quickly restocked, hot food is hot, cold food is well chilled on ice. The sushi area is beautifully stocked with excellent bright red tuna sushi, delicious rolls, and fresh clams shucked right in front of you! There's a grilled to order area, ice cream machine, fresh fruit, TONS of seafood, and it's a self serve situation. It's always a great idea to check places like this outside of their rush hours. Go for lunch or a weeknight dinner. You won't be disappointed, and for the price??? Come on. It's a deal! The service, for me, was quite good. Hot tea upon sitting, drink orders taken right away, and a follow up at mid-meal, and the dishes were cleared away as I got up for seconds, and thirds!

The service is horrible but the food is excellent. The decorations are decent and the environment is very active. The main benefit of the restaurant is the food. My family goes there occasionally for big get-togethers and birthdays. East Buffet serves as a decent place for the service. The cost is decent as well to cap off an average all-you-can-eat buffet.

We went dining at Kissena's East Buffet branch in Flushing... and here's their 6 Steps to serving a bad meal on Chinese New Year's Eve.

Step#1: Make your customers wait 30 minutes and longer because they don't sit anyone down on a table unless FULL party is there.

Step#2: Sitting a party of 12 when the table isn't setup properly. We had to ask for the missing dinning set and pull up our own chairs.

Step#3: There was no one serving our table for at least 10 minutes... we were hungry so we had to wave down a waiter.

Step#4: We ordered dining meal set with 12 dishes... I timed them serving us with an average of 20 minutes and more for the first 4 dishes. After that I was angry, got up, and spoke to a manager... he brushes me off by sending a waiter to check the status on our food while he continues to count his money.

Step#5: Dishes were served at the wrong orders. Anyone likes having fish as the last dish being serve without rice? My bro had to speak to 4 different waiters/waitress for the damn fish! We asked on several occasions to see if we can stop the dishes and just get a check to leave. They waved us off and claimed everything are in the works.

Step#6: After receiving $500 in cash (including "forced" stupid 16% tip rule because we certainly wouldn't leave them any), smile and ask your customers to return for "Dim Sum" tomorrow.

This by far is the looongest meal I ever had at any restaurant. Service is so poor, on a scale of 1-to-10, I have to give it a negative 10! The food was so-so and definitely overrated. Their service is legendary to me now. I don't accept their poor service. It's not excusable. If you are under staff then don't accept so many customers, period. They clearly went over serving capacity.

Arrived and was seated promptly. Buffet area and presentation was nicely placed out. Food was great. I consider it the best Asian buffet in the New York metro area. They serve the best of all of the traditional chinese dishes; ginger scallion lobster, salt and better crab; crab legs; above average size cocktail shrimp (not pre-peeled) as well as your traditional beef and chicken dishes. Also available are raw cherrystone clams, raw oysters, and raw geoduck. Asian buffet desserts included soft serve ice cream, tapioca pudding, almond pudding, mango pudding, etc.

The first hour and 25 minutes of the meal was heavenly. Unfortunately that did not last. The restaurant enforces a 1.5 hour eating period for customers. Their menu claims this is only enforced during peak hours, but it is not the case. I was there on a Sunday night and the restaurant was 1/4 full. They rudely shoved me the check and ask that I settle the bill ASAP because they need to close up the cashier. As I was informed later on from friends, this was just a tactic and was used as polite way to basically inform me that my time was up.

Price: $27.95 per person + Tax. A 15% tip is automatically added to the entire bill after tax... not beforehand!

In closing, this restaurant is a great place to go for tasty foods. Just remember to bring a stopwatch and sales tax calculator.

Cons: Service

.

This restaurant has plenty of seating so it can accomodate large groups. However, during dim sum time it can get crowded. The prices are average and the food tastes great. There are plenty of food carts going around so you won't have to wait that long when you need another dish. There is also a buffet portion of the restaurant that is seperate from dim sum. This is good for picky eaters since the buffet has a little of everything. The buffet includes a sushi bar where you can see fresh sushi being made. Buffet prices are average. There's free parking in the back, but space is limited.

This place rocks! It has a lot of food and great authentic Dim Sum. Ample seating but parking is a bit challenging. Service is quick and its a buffet. So eat all you can! You have to sometimes share a table. Those who have been to a chinatown or crowded places understand, the way it is. Unless you have a large enough party to fill up the table. I've been here since it has opened and return everytime I visit family in town. Give this place a try!

PROS: Great authentic chinese food, dim sum
CONS: Horrible Parking

This place is great. Their food is excellent and fresh, and their selection is unbeatable. The only drawback is the price. It is quite pricey for lunch, or for dinner. But for a once-in-a-while treat, it is highly recommended.

If you like all you can eat Chinese, this is the sanctuary for all of the AYCE elitists who can dine on virtually all scopes of the Chinese cuisine. There is some of the deep fried greasy non-authentic American Chinese fare, some authentic dishes (Peking Duck, Mapo Tofu), Dim Sum and even Sushi. Beware of the shatty service, as they are pushy and automatically add a 15% tip to each bill.

Cons: Service, Location

If you are ever in the mood for some good chinese buffet, this is one of the best places to go. The best one if the one in Long Island, but this is just as good. Cheap during the middle of lunch and dinner. Highly recommended

This buffet has a great selection of a variety of differetn foods in amany cuisines. THere is a good Sushi bar, a roast duck/ham/prime rib, grilled foods, and literally undreds of differetn dishes. The food would not be considered the highest in quality, but the variety more than makes up for it. Although expensive, this is a place that we go to often.

This is an authentic Chinese restaurant, it does not serve "Americanized" Chinese food. This is where Asian people go for food that tastes as good as it did back in their homeland. Go for lunch and you will experience Dim Sum. This is where the staff goes around with carts and offers you different things to try. You can pick and choose what you want, don't forget to try the chicken feet!

PROS: Authentic Chinese food
CONS: Hard to communicate if you don't speak Asian

I never heard of EB before but I was surprised later to see positive reviews. By the decor I thought I was going to have a great dining experience. Marble stairs, fancy chandelers, etc. The food selection was a little better than average but this place gets a big F in quality. Pretty much all the hot food was bordeline cold, definitely not hot. This makes it hard to judge the taste. I tried several dishes but most were either cold or just not that good. Annoyed by my meal I really wanted to get out of this place. Oh yeah this place is far from cheap given the quality, and it is in Queens. $22 bucks per/p + service charge+tip. I complained to the manager but he was rude and didn't really care. I think he forgets he's in the hospitality business.
