Best Spa in all of New York!

I love this place! Tara the owner is the best! I feel so comfortable every time I come here and they make me forget about every stress I have in my life! Their treatments are amazing! They make everything themselves! Once you have a massage on their heated water bed no other massage will be exceptable!
Pros: Everything
Cons: None!

JCD Rocks!
by McKennaforlife
I brought my mother here recently and we loved it! We had massages which were to die for and then we had the most amazing pedicures. We had them in this cute little "Paris Garden" just calm down has set up...so relaxing! And then used real fruit in our pedicure soak! it smelled heavenly! Overall we had a great time at the spa. My mother was so happy i brought her.
Pros: Amazing Massages, Amazing Pedicures

Cool spa
by Jeansforme
Just Calm Down is a really cool spa. You feel at home there from the comfy couches to the staff who treats you like family. I never went to the old location but have been going since the new one opened and I am hooked. It was really neat how I could pick my own music for my treatment...that part was awesome. Massages are great as well as facials. I need to try a manicure soon.
Pros: cool atmosphere, nice staff, picked my own music

great spa!
by glamgal27
I recently went to JCD for the first time after reading all the hype. It was amazing and loved it! And this is a REAL customer writing this review....in response to the review below. Obviously when a spa is so good there are always a lot of haters! But the owner was really pleasant with me and i had nothing but a good experience. the Moroccan Massage is amazing!!! i've never had anything like it. I just came back from a Vegas trip and had a massage at the spa at Ceasars and the Moroccan was better than that! can you believe? Go Just Calm Down! thanks for calming me down completely! i'll be back ; )
Pros: the moroccan massage!
Cons: no sauna

If this place doesn't relax you, nothing will.
by NicktheBrit
I've been going to Just Calm Down for a little over a year now (both old and new locations). I'm an Englishman in New York and travel around the world for business. That means I get stressed and I've visited an awful lot of spas in my time. After a few hundred you get to know what really is a good massage, who really knows what they are doing and recognize great service.
Just Calm Down is a fantastic place. I would not hesitate to recommend it and do so frequently. I've never left dissatisfied and I'm a very fussy person. The staff there are extremely friendly and I look forward to seeing them as much as I do the massage - they are always welcoming, smiling and attentive. I just wish I was in the country more often to go there. But try it for yourself - you wont be disappointed.
Pros: Great massages, fantastic people, its like an extended family
Cons: None

A truly calming experience
by Adiva523
I must say I LOVED my experience at just calm down in their new space. I have been a loyal customer to them for a few years and have never had a bad massage/pedicure/manicure. anything there. My pedicures were perfect & manicures were great. Truly the massages are the best! This weekend I went for the Valentines special. As I entered the new space I was greeted by Tara (owner) who is absolutely amazing and attentive. The room + music + mimosa infused massage was so truly relaxing. The combination heated water bed/ heated towels just melted my stress away. I was totally relaxed & my masseuse was phenomenal and ultimately I felt 10x better than I did before. I highly recommend any of their services; a great time for all!
Pros: Ambience, great staff, relaxing atmosphere
Cons: none

Great spa! Nicest owner!
by thearc
As a current employee i have to COMPLETELY disagree with the below comment! I feel sorry that some of our former emplyees have become so bitter...being unable to bring everyone over to our beautiful new location...as we only had room for the best! The owner of Just Calm Down, well what can i say, is the nicest women i have ever worked for. I feel so lucky to have this job in an economy that has gone under so quickly. Not to mention because of everyones money issues these days the owner is always discounting services...check out our website! So it's very clear to me you have no idea what your talking about!
Pros: staff , services, etc...
Cons: old staff

The Big Move Was Well Worth The Wait!
by stockingstuffer
Just Calm Down has finally moved and all I can say is a job well done! The new location feels like a country house in the big city. The manicure/pedicure room truly feels like a cool european cafe, with a such a beautiful sky-lit ceiling, making you feel like you are outside! The details are just perfect. The rooms are cozy and the beds heated. I was so lucky to have been given a birthday surprise last week to enjoy a facial, massage and pedicure. All the services were truly divine. I am so happy they are finally up and running and I am sure that anyone who steps inside will be lost in the spa's magic.

great customer service
by crosscountry65
the problem with the below reviews is that just calm down was closed during their big move for almost 2 months. how these reviews can be valid, i just don't know. the spa has by far the nicest desk people in the biz. you say "sickly sweet" i say sweet in this city is a rarity. i am surprised that a review sight allows for such false slander to be written. but trust me when i say that the owner and desk girls always go beyond the call of duty. i have been a client for many years, not only because of the wonderful services, but because the owner is so hands-on and so involved. stopped by the new place, and all i can say is wow! so if you are an ex-employee who feels better about yourself by putting down others, find something better to do. like grow-up. just calm down deserves all the praise in the world!!!
Pros: wonderful owner, creative services,
Cons: the dissenters

I'll pass
by Lizzey47
I recently went to this spa and found the services to be less than stellar. I had a facial/ pedicure both were awful. I am not sure the facilist knew what she was doing as she pulled my skin to hard there is no door, just a curtain so , it's really noisy and cold in there. As for my pedicure there was a tin bin that I was supposed to put my feet in. how ancient is this??, the pedicurist had my feet on her lap( very slave like) As I sat to have my feet dried droves of people passed by which was annoying. My polish was a little messy but I was late for dinner and just wanted to get out. I had not checked the price for the pedicure when I went to pay I was outraged by the price of $85.00, I will never go back
Pros: none
Cons: uncomfortable chairs, overpriced

too cold and too hot
by gerryboy
I came in for the talked about morrocan massaged which I was almost forced in to getting. The description is not what you actually ge,t heated water bed?? yea right more like frozen water bed. Heat pack placed only my back was so hot it nearly burned my skin off, I had to ask for it to be taken off. This is was not what was expected or described the therapist was nothing to brag about although I was told she was great, what a waste!!
Cons: not enough pressure, cold bed, hotpack too hot

a wondeful place to chill
by sillycitygirl
So sorry to tell the last reviewer, but Just Calm Down is moving to bigger and better digs! Didn't you see the website?!!! Seems you like the gossip of it all without knowing the REAL back story! It's pretty sad that you could dislike a person who is so darn nice and truly puts her personal touch in everything she does. With so many spas in the city, why are you still a client then? I go to the same therapists all the time and I must say, they always compliament the owner and seem very happy with the place! Why else would the BEST therapists work there??? She MUST be doing a lot of things right! To everyone else, see you at the new place!
Pros: the personal touch of the owner and staff
Cons: none

The utmost retreat to all of life's hassles, a dazzling dose of pampering, endlessly wonderful services
by massageman
Just CalmDown has been a fixture throughout my five years of city living, a magical escape where my friends and I walk through their doors and everyone and everything negative and stressful immediately disappears as the surroundings, the aura and the everpresent warmthful greeting grant us that wish for paradise akin to that only a genie might otherwise grant. NEVER, in the dozens of services my pals and I have indulged in has the outcome been nothing less than stellar. A pedicure/massage/facial gala for a 41st birthday was magnificent, the owner constantly ensuring that all was just as planned, and needless to say, carried out with perfection. We are so excited for the grand move to 18th Street, where only more of the same magic glamourously awaits!
Pros: warm and inviting
Cons: none

a must try!
by ladiesfirst
I was so glad to see a a proactive client writing back to the ridiculous review about the owner. Tara is the best and most loyal owner of any business I have ever frequented. She is so hands-on and so caring that it makes the time I spend there totally special. What's so funny about the negative review is that the writer comments that her friends who have been there agree! Then why go??? It's too obvious that a nasty spirited, jealous person is writing such nonsense-look who's passive aggressive! For all those who are reading reviews because they are looking for the BEST-this is the place! And to Tara, we all love you!!!
Pros: customer service, facial heaven
Cons: having to read anything negative

excellent spa, terriffic owner, great therapists
by cece75
Reading the below review I am ashamed at anyone who would write such false untruths. So ashamed that I am writing back, something I normally don't do. First of all anyone who knows the owner, Tara knows how unbelievably nice and sweet she is. She goes above and beyond making sure that each client is completely happy. To say she would falsely charge a credit card, which in all the years I have been going never has happened to mean or anyone I know, is shameful. Clients love Just Calm Down for its very homey atmosphere and the wonderful owner. It's funny you say the staff doesn't like her either, as I have been going to the same two therapists for many years. It seems to me that you must be a former employee with nothing better to do then spread disgusting rumors. To everyone else, listen to the kudos and ravings by New York Magazine and Allure...They wouldn't be given such honors without the loyal clients who have been obsessed with the spa for years!!!!
Pros: charming setting, skillful staff, creative energy
Cons: ex employees with a vengence

really chill
by pipinghot
when i came to my first appointment, i was in the middle of a really bad day. the girl at the desk (i later found out she was the owner) was so nice and friendly and understanding to my mood that i instantly felt better. it was if i had been a client forever. i indulged in a massage they call the split personality (funny, ehh) and like the description it up-lifted my sad spirits. the massage therapist was so attentive and read my muscles like a good book that i felt like wonderful at the completion both physically and mentally. thanks girls for a most memorable few hours.
Pros: really chill ambience with exceptional therapists without the attitude

a Great Place
by beantreepole
As a long-time Just Calm Down Spa goer, I must say that I am very surprised when I see a reviewer putting down the positive reviews. It makes me wonder if the neg review (see right below) is true or not! Just Calm Down has a stellar reputation and the reason is the place is quite special. The services, staff and down to earth vibe are charms the spa possesses that sets itself apart from the many other, white walled medicinal bubble spas in the city. I have tried most of the services by myself and with friends, and we have always been more than pleased. So I suggest a try so that you will see what a great experience Just Calm Down spa really is. Listen to those good reviews, they definitely count for something. Also, check-out all the magazines. Editors seem thrilled toooo!
Pros: a chill and inviting place
Cons: none

by acharacter
I'm a girl who loves deep tissue massages! The stronger the better. Usually when I have massages only male therapists are able to break through my ridiculously tight back muscles. Well, I finally found a woman who is able to do just that! Kristina...you were awesome! I definitely hesitated when the desk told me that only female therapists were available on the date I wanted, but I am so glad that I listened! Just calm Down is truly the definition of this place! I say to all...just go and find out for yourself!
Pros: deep tissue massages
Cons: none

Believe the hype and the talk...This place rocks the house. From the charming and eclectic decor to the sweet and helpful front desk to the top-notch service providers, this place stands out for sure! Came on recommendation for a quick brazilian and ended up scheduling a facial and a massage. The wax was quick and virtually painless (if you can say that about a wax!). The facial was very complete and my skin felt like years city grime had been lifted. The massage- well that just lifted me to new heights. Raquel my therapist really knows her stuff and could read my muscles like a book. Love this place and recommend to all!

A Visitor's Paradise
by gretabreadcrumb
I was recommended to visit Just Calm Down from my hotel concierge and a wonderful experience it was! After a very long flight and a night out I was ready for some relaxation. A massage would truly be a blessing I told myself...Where to go? Well Just Calm Down really was a delight. My Massage Therapist Maya was so helpful in helping me choose the right massage for how I was feeling. We decided on the Raindrop massage which helped to clear my head and warm my muscles. Her hands were luxurious, working out my flying kinks and six months of working too hard knots in my back and neck. She was truly a blessing...This is my way of saying thank you.
Pros: great massages

a sweet place in the giant city
by twopeasinapod
after spending way too many hours in the office without a break, I decided to treat myself to a little time at just calm down. Great idea on my part. I decided to have a facial and a pedicure to get ready for the Summer months. The facialist was a true miracle worker. She was extremely nice and out of the park talented! i never had a facial before with such a wonderful massage. She was also very diligent and listened without hesitation to all my skin complaints. She explained to me the best way to care for my skin and advised me on a few key products that would help to maintain the sheer magic she had worked on my skin. It was my good fortune that she also was my pedicurist. She helpeded me to choose the most brilliant color (environmentally friendly to boot!) to match my skintone and the best pedicure for my tired, cranky feet. Thesoak smelled and looked beautiful and completely calmed down my sore, achy feet. It's been three weeks since my visit and my polish still looks great...not to mention my glowing skin. I was so glad to have the few hours of ultimate relaxation and hope to get out of the office for another spa break soon.
Pros: wonderful facials and pedicures
Cons: can't move in

a darling little place!
by maximillian72
I used to live in the Chelsea area of NYC and i really enjoyed Just Calm Down on a weekly basis. I have since moved back to London, but on a recent City jaunt I had to visit my old spa. The place is as charming as ever and I do believe the services are even better than before! I especially loved the quirkiness of The Moroocan Massage. This was new to the menu since I had last been to the spa and I must say, a one-of-a-kind experience. It helped with my jet-lagged body and stiff airplane neck and leg muscles! I am hoping one day that Just Calm Down comes over seas! That would be a real treat! But for now, I will make a visit each time I revisit my old city.
Pros: a little slice of heaven

Migraine Begone!!!
by insidergirl
I had a horrible migraine, the kind where your eyes throb and such...I called Just Calm Down on recommendation from a co-worker. My therapist was very soothing in her manner, calming me down from the minute we started speaking. She asked me lots of questions about how I was feeling and I truly felt like I was in good hands! Well, I soon learned I was in great hands. Her technique used just the right amount of strength, and she was able to loosen extremely tight muscles in my neck and back. The blend of oils she used was perfect--not too over powering. By the end of the massage, I felt light as a feather and my head felt ten pounds lighter as well. Thank you to Just Calm Down for making me feel so much better.
Pros: The Cure For All Headaches
Cons: Not enough time to spend at the spa

creative and fantastic services
by lazysummerday
I usually don't go by reviews in beauty magazines, but I had to try the Moroccan Massage written about in Allure Mag. To my surprise, it was absolutely fabulous. My therapist was very educated and really understood my issues. It was the first time that I had a massage where my body felt levitaed. As a yoga enthusiast, the stretching was top notch! So nice to have someone doing the work for you. The water bed was just the right temperture allowing my body to fully relax. After the massage, they squeezed me in for a quick brazilian. It was quick and painless...I will be back for more services for sure! I'm a fan forever!
Pros: massages and waxing
Cons: going back to work!

Best Spa All Around!
by muscialwonder
I have been a true blue client at Just Calm Down for many years and when I read the below reviews it truly seems like an unhappy x employee is going crazy on the place! Just Calm Down is now truly celebrity with the massage paparazzi on her tail! I do think the spa is above and beyond in customer service and skills. How could anyone not like the owner. She is as sweet as can be! So listen to me when I tell you the place is fabulous! The pedicures and massages are apart of my weekly schedule. Check the place out and you will see what the craze is all about! Also, congrats on Allure-Best Of! Well deserved!
Pros: great skills, very creative, awsome atmosphere

Felt Like A Queen!
by detroitrociti
Was having a stressful week and the therapists at Just Calm Down truly cured my woes both physicvally and mentally! I first had the Morroccan massage which I read about in New York Magazine. The writer was right on! It was completely decadent and well worth the wait. My knotted muscles are feeling limp and loving life! No more pain. I think my therapists name was Jenilin... I then had a facial that was incredible. Even the facial massage was brilliant. I ended my afternoon with a wine pedicure. My feet were drunk with pleasure! If your job is getting you down, go over to Just Calm Down and you will do just that.
Pros: wonderful massages,facial, pedicures

I guess it still surprises me to see that some people have nothing better to do than put down a former place of work. Where do they get the time?? I also am a former employee, (moved away) but I have nothing but good things to say about the spa. The management is ultra nice and always tried selling our skills to the clients, giving us the opportunity to developement our client base. The spa is very cute and chill with awesome services to boot.
Pros: creative services

Yo...........this stuff is Soooooo funny! LMBO.......people must be reading this and going "Wat the Heck"!! Its like one extreme or the other. Odviously a set up.
Anyway, I'm not here to bash anyone. The spa has been open for 6 years and that says alot in it self. But the fact that there are odviously many very unhappy employees says alot also. We should all take time to LOOK AT OURSELF. If an event repeats itself, theres always a reason why.
Oh BTW, I love my new Job=)

Love This Place
by sugashac
can't believe what a wonderfully quaint place this is. i bought my mother a gift certificate for her birthday so that we could share a spa day together. we were both really impressed with the adorable atmosphere. we are so not into those other places with the turned up noses and such! the front desk girl is quite lovley and extremely helpful. she explained the services so well that we were able to pin-point the exact services we wanted done before arriving. the massages were decadent, very warming and relaxing. after our facials, our skin felt 10 yrs younger. usually i run to apply make-up, but didn't need too. we then enjoyed very luxurious beachy pedicures. it was so much nicer sitting on a couch then the typical pedicure chairs. while we were there, we met a couple who have been celebrating their anniversary at the spa for the past five years. we thought it was so sweet. anyway, this place is truly a mecca in a busy city. even the gift certificates are personalized. so nice not to give an ordinary plastic card. just want to say thank you for the most peaceful and wonderful afternoon.
Pros: excellent services, beautiful space, sweet receptionist
Cons: zero

chill place
by joeyt1103
I've been going to Just Calm Down for awhile now thanks to my girlfriend. Being a guy I'm not really the spa type but their massages are for real. I play on a hockey league and massages are critical for me. This place is the only place I go to now. The staff is great too at making you feel really comfortable, especially recently. (back in the day there was some nasty tattoo chick at the front desk who used to always smoke outside and annoy me but the new one is chill) I've done some of the couples packages too with my girlfriend and we have had a great time. If you're a guy and need a good quality massage or you want to really impress your girl this is the place to go.
Pros: great massages, quality, hot staff
Cons: no sauna

The real truth behind the awesome spa
by browneyesrule
As the current Spa Manager of just calm down, I would like to clarify the below review. The issues mentioned by the below employee were ones that she in fact created under her own discretion while the owner was on maternity leave. I was hired to clean up the mess that she had left the spa in and I find it unfortunate that the situation has been so misconstrued. As with any business, when problems arise, the necessary actions need to be taken to fix them. In the case of just calm down, the necessary actions included firing this employee so that the impeccable customer service clients have come to know since the spas inception could resume. The spa has a very large returning clientele and I would imagine that if the things listed below about the owner were true, this would not be the case.
Pros: Exceptional staff, customer service, and services

just calm down is great!
by trifon26
just calm down is wonderful point blank. The reviewer below is retarded! I really doubt a place could stay in business and do well if there was mold and dust on everything. Get real! Every time ive been there, there have been a lot of clients there and I even saw a celebrity there getting a pedicure over the holidays. Oh and fyi- the reviewer below talked about dust being on the fabric letters over the counter?how could you even see that? They are so far away?.you only can see close to them like that if you?re behind the counter which only employees are! which is why I concur with reviewer diane below?I think there really is an ex employee mad at getting fired! Lol anyways ive been to just calm down quite a few times and my time spent there has always been good. And trust me im the first one to complain if something is not right. To the reviewer below..if there really was mold on a grape you?re an idiot for paying for it and not speaking up! You failed to tell us if you said anything or how it was addressed?I guess the mold got to your head?!
Pros: cool $ss place!
Cons: nothing its the best!

Clean and Gorgeous...Not to mention Unbelievable Services!
by funbunchcityfolkchapter
I am also a true blue just calm down lover...There is no spa in all of NYC that has the excellent customer service and services as Just Calm Down does. First off, the space is sooo pretty and so comfy I loved it from first glance. It is also extremely clean. They even use big bowls for their pedis and not the regular sinks most places use. The rooms are also quite quaint and have lots of sweet character. Everyone I have ever brought here, has raved about the wonderful services and second to none customer service. If you do not want personalized attention, this is not your place. I love the special attention and endearing way of the front desk girls. It makes me feel like like a person and not a number. The waterbed moroccan massage is the best massage experience you will ever have. I agree with NY Mag that it is by far the best massage in the city. All I can say is go!go!go!
Pros: Great Staff, Beautiful Ambience, Wonder Services

A take on the latest reviews
by Janet36
I came to this spa several days ago and had a pedicure done... After visiting I decided to have a look on City Search to view its responses and ratings. Found them all very disturbing... the majority seem to be a contrived and conceptual play on words rating this spa to be the best thing since sliced bread, the others; a very harsh approach to some truth about this existing business. I base my rating on an experience and want to warn those of you who rate cleanliness high in regards! I have found the last few responses quite amusing. Someone should go in there with one of those blue lights that show the real works!!! The place is pretty gross; the couches, the curtains, even the fabric letters hung high above and behind the front desk are ridden with dust and dander. Swear it, the grape in my "Special Wine Pedi" that cost $85 had mold on it!!

Fabulous Spa!
by diane2228
I've been a loyal customer to just calm down for years. Don't believe these nasty reviews. It is a wonderful CLEAN place and one of the best spas in Manhattan. I think we have a disgruntled ex-employee on the loose who is addicted to citysearch and needs to find a new job other than writing bogus citysearch reviews about a spa that is absolutely wonderful- why else would New York Mag rate it as one of the best massages and pedicures in the city? I would never promote a business I didn't believe in and just calm down and its staff have been amazing to me and I consider them family. My advice is for people to go in and see for themselves. : )
Pros: Quality Treatments, Friendly Staff, CLEAN

first i was looking for the bathroom and accidentally walked behind a curtain where the employess sit, there was garbage and animal traps all over!!! when i got into the bathroom there was water on the floor and oatmeal and food in the sink!!!! the toliet paper didnt flush the first time i had to flush twice .The girls who work there doing the services were all very nice and my massage therapist was off the hook, too bad the spa was disgusting-even the room i had my massage in smelled funky and the floor was sticky. i didnt really have a problem getting an appointment but the girl in the front was obnoxiously trying to get me to upgrade and add other services-when i agreed to upgrade my massage-i had to wait extra time so the therapist could set up-somthing with waterbeds not being ready, i then told the girl in the front to forget the upgrade bc i was on a schedule she said just 2 more minutes and kept calling me sweetie. it took an additional 20 minutes to set up and the therapist told me that this type of massage should be booked in advance in the future bc of the set up time, when i told my therapist that the girl in the front talked me into the upgrade my therapist seemed annoyed bc she had a full schedule. she was an amazing therapist and the massage was worth the extra money but not the extra time. i came about 10 minutes early so my total wait b4 the service was over 30 minutes, my massage was not cut short but her next client had to wait all that extra time too and the staff in the front didnt even seem to care...apparently my extra 20 dollars was worth more to them than the aggrevation it caused me and the next client.First i wish i wouldve went somewhere else because like i said the spa itself was GROSS!!!! but since i was there i wish i didnt really upgrade my massage even though it was a good one because it threw off my whole day, in ny you dont really have all the time in the world to wait for waterbeds
Pros: good therapists
Cons: filthy dirty and greedy.

Love this place :)
by maryann3908
I went into just calm down spa on Saturday for the first time and I'm shocked to see the review below. My experience was nothing but great. I did a massage and then a pedicure and they were lovely. Everything seemed very clean and sanitary to me. The staff was lovely and the girl at the front desk was a doll. In the below review they said they hated being called "pet names" but I thought that shows the staff is friendly and treats you as a friend instead of just a client as they do at places like Bliss and such. (I hate being called Miss or Ms.! It makes me feel like an old lady! At least these girls don't!) I felt right at home and loved the realness of this place and lack of snooty "stuck-up" attitudes that other Manhattan venues tend to have. I will definitely be back! just calm down spa keep rockin and let the haters hate!
Pros: friendly staff, unique atmosphere, fun fun fun!

WORST, DIRTIEST Pedicure Ever
by monkey1221
First of all it took me a million years to get an appointment at just calm down; I'm assuming after reading some of the other poor reviews here it's because I had a gift certificate and it seems that just calm down has a poor history with accepting gift certificates as payment because maybe they're a cash poor business or just greedy, who knows? The redheaded receptionist was totally lame and tried to upsell me like crazy calling me stupid pet names like she knew me. She was ridiculous and embarassing. The owner should put her in a back of house job, working with the public isn't her strong suit.
But I have to say when the pedicurist took me to supposedly glorious tent area I was SERIOUSLY disappointed with the decor, cleanliness and service itself. The girl was nice enough, but the area to pick colors was poorly lit and the drink that was supposed to come with the service I had to ask for three times. When I got my "lemonade" I'm serious, it was about 4 ounces of poorly mixed powdered lemonade in a filthy, old glass. Gross!
The supposedly exotic and gorgeous tent is a filthy, dirty, stained, dilapidated mess of material strung up on some piping. Most alarmingly, the pots or tubs where you stick your feet to soak in a mess of moldy old fruit totally has a ring of dirt and filth around it. You sit on this stained, smelly, old couch that looks like someone swiped it out of the garbage on the street. The place is just truly unsanitary. I shudder thinking about my feet in that bowl.
Just SO NOT WORTH IT. I looked at the list of treatments before I left and the person who was kind enough to buy my gift cerificate paid $85 for this shabby, filthy, below average service. DO NOT GO TO THIS HELLHOLE, TRUST ME!!!!
Cons: Dirty, Unsanitary, Ridiculously Overpriced Services

A Valentine's Day Couple's Massage Love Affair
by starlitestarbrite13
What a wonderful beginning to a romantic and unforgettable Valentine's Day...My fiance booked a surprise couples massage for us at Just Calm Down. He chose this unbelievable Moroccan Massage that totally blew us away. Even with the big croud awaiting their services, the staff and therapists were so gracious and truly made us feel like we were the only one's in the room! The service left us both wanting for more. We are both massage gurus and we both agreed that this massage was amongst the BEST! New York Magazine was 100% right voting them Best Massage! The space is really pretty and takes you away from the hustle of the city. After our massages we had these really decadent pedicures with all kinds of yummy scrubs. We loved relaxing on the couch inside the really cool tent. if your up for a very different kind of pedicure experience...this is the place. Much better than Rescue... Especially cause the staff is so nice and down to earth! The sangria which came with the service as part of the Valentine's Special package was perfectly delicious. Just calm Down was certainly the best before dinner surprise ever! When checking out, we were truly happy to hear others talking about how wonderful their services were. We will be back and recommend that you revel in the magic as well. We will spread the word!

Best Nails In NYC
by manicuremaven
just calm down has the best manis and pedis Iever had. Took my boy for a Valentine's Day treat and he also fell in love. The soaks and the scrubs are beyond nothing I have ever experienced before. The tent is also beyond cute... I had the Grape Gatsby...The grapes were so fun to play with! But, I really enjoyed the fabulous massage and outdtanding scrub! Feet never felt so smoothe! They also offered us their special Valentine's Sangria-whiuch was delicious. My boy tried their special Paradis one. It smelled unreal. The chocolate and fig combo is out of theis world. I have manicures every week, and I must say the nail services at Just Calm Down are well worth the price! Just GO and you will see what I am talking about!
Pros: Great Tent! Awesome Nail Services
Cons: Can't Go Enough

very decietful

I went here yesterday with my boyfriend for valentines day weekend. We came from philadelphia to spend the day in new york. He has been wanting a pedicure for a while so I searched the internet to find the right place. I was really impressed with the way Just calm down described their pedicures, and how they got good ratings, so I chose this to be the place. THEY DID NOT STAY TRUE TO THEIR ADVERTISMENT AT ALL. We got the chocolate pedi and the wine pedi. they poured one piture of COOL water in the tub which didnt even cover the tops of our feet. the scrubs they used WERE NOTchocolate or wine. they DIDN'T offer us a glass of wine or hot chocolate like the pedicure SAYS IT DOES. they barley used any lotion for the massage, which lasted 1 mintue anyway. everything was FILTHY. they didnt ask my boyfriend if he wanted his nails buffed. the worst part was that we paid $85 each for a HALF HOUR HORRIBLE PEDICURE. the receptionist wasent even paying attention and almost charged us for 2 massages! I would NEVERrecommend this place to anyone
Cons: everything

romantic getaway in NYC
by southerngirlinnyc
Loved our visit to Just calm Down. It was our three year anniversary last month and I wanted something truly special to do before our big night out he was planning. Being new to NYC, I chose Just Calm Down upon recommendation. We both loved it upon first entering. The staff was so sweet and the services excellent. We started with unbelievable massages on warm water beds listening to our choice of music. Great touch! Our massages were truly decadent and we both loved the amazing streching they involved. The couples room was romantic and warm...we didn't want the session to end. We floated to a beautiful tent where we snuggled on a couch sipping hot cocoa during wine pedicures. It was my boy's first and he was so impressed with how great his feet felt that I know he'll be back. Planning Valentine's Day to begin at Just Calm Down and to end engaged...As the helpless romantic...I will be asking him!
Pros: Absolutely Everything
Cons: none
