I stopped at Crawford Furniture at the plaza in Hamburg, NY. I walked in there without really having the desire to buy from them, but I figured I could get a good deal on a couch chair since it was "The last 10 days" and "No reasonable offer refused." They refused every offer. I stopped in three times to try and get them to haggle on a chair, I was told "I should go elsewhere" or "I should have taken the previous deal." I told them five foot nothing salesman to have his senior citizen boss come talk to me, but the coward ran back behind the booth and shoveled nachos into his face. The prices I was offered for the chair were: $450, $350, $325, $550 (which was their "cost"), and then $350 (they remembered me and said I should have taken the other deal). I don't know who is in charge here or what scam they are pulling, but not one, not one item was sold from that place in four days. It looks like Crawford is trying to cheat the bank by not selling any of the items. Now I know why those guys are stuck working as pathetic furniture salesman.

good riddance.
never cared about quality or customer service and with any luck wont be able to scam anyone anymore.

I am forced by this system to give at least 1 star.If I could give negative fifty (-50) stars I would.

BEWARE DO NOT BUY FROM CRAWFORD FURNITURE unless you physically walk out of there with product in hand. At best you MUST use credit card also in case you need to dispute it.

I would give them plus fifty stars for not being truthful!

I ordered furniture while they were in bankrupt proceedings, allegedly the items would absolutely have to be produced and delivered within 4-6 weeks. As of this wrtiting we are in the 9th week. Phone calls go unanswered, messages are NEVER returned (I personally left 3 messages). When actually talking to someone at the store they say to call the warehouse because they talked to them (no more information), call the warehouse: no information given then being told that I should call corporate (???) Absolutely ZERO/none/NADA customer service worth anything. I called corporate: Well their message said they were on lunch for two hours; clearly a return phone call could not be fit into corporates schedule; they NEVER did return any calls I ever made (over 19 calls). I went to the store to find out what was happening, the doors were locked with lights out (on a WED afternoon!)), sign said be back tomorrow. Well tomorrow was too long for me to wait, I immediately disputed the necessary charges on my credit card.

THIS PLACE IS BAAAAADDD NEWS! Their logo: "Our loss is your gain" - not true: your loss will be their gain. Save yourself the headache of disputing your credit card charges, go somewhere reputable. There is a reason they are going bankrupt, Im just sorry that I had to really find out the reason!

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) - A News 4 viewer tipped us to financial problems for Crawford Furniture of Jamestown. They have been locked out of one of their stores for problems with the landlord and another store may be facing the same dilemma.
Call 4 Action has been fielding Crawford Furniture complaints since early this year, mainly over the delivery of orders. The furniture is delivered late or not at all. Then there was the big "construction sale" to remodel the stores, but now the store in Hamburg is closed, and we are not sure why.
The doors to the Crawford Furniture Direct outlet in Hamburg are locked, with signs telling customers and would-be customers, the store is closed. The closing has stirred up a hornet's nest of complaints from customers, such as Scott Zawierucha, whose wife has paid Crawford $1,500 for furniture but has nothing to show for it.
Zawierucha said, "And they told her it would be about eight weeks on delivery."
That was back in March. After repeated calls to the Hamburg store, and Crawford Furniture's Jamestown headquarters, Zawierucha and his wife want their money back, but the store is closed, and he says he has tried everything.
"I called the shipping department. I called every imagineable phone number and nothing. I get answering machines that are all full and aren't taking any more messages," said Zawierucha.

The closed temporarily sign was taped to the inside of the door by Crawford Furniture. But on the exterior of the door, there is a sign saying the door is sealed, listing a number for Benderson Development, which owns the strip mall where the store is located. When we called the number, they referred us back to Crawford.
John Stading's wife ordered $2,400 worth of furniture at Crawford's store in Amherst, the same store that Senator Charles Schumer used as a backdrop to rail on federal budget cuts that could jeopardize Crawford's supply of hardwood.
Stading said, "We got tired of waiting and we decided we wanted our money back because we wanted some new furniture. If we couldn't get it there, we'd get it somewhere else."
Stading said Crawford did send his wife a refund check back in June, but they couldn't deposit it, so they are still waiting, and Stading says there were others.
"While we were in there asking for a refund back in May, there were three other couples lined up behind us, demanding refunds," said Stading.
An executive for Crawford Furniture left a voicemail message Monday afternoon saying the Hamburg store is closed due to a "misunderstanding with the landlord." Their attorneys are working on it, and the problem should be resolved within a few days.

I had the same bad experience that other people are having. Crawford has an "F" rating with the BBB. They are not paying their creditors and not dealing in good faith. I saw a clip a few weeks ago on Channel 4 that Crawford could be hurting due to the Emerald Ash Borer now in NY State and the Southern Tier. They are already in trouble and that little bug has nothing to do with it!

Ordered 2 england chairs in march, it is now end of july and nothing. Called several times and they lied about my order being back logged with the builder (england), the last call I made to crawford, the salesman said that the builder was on a 2 week union contract furlough but one of my chairs was done. they were just waiting on the union leave to end and then they could finish the second chair...
Tried to talk to several managers but they never called back. Jamestown corp was just as bad. I eventually called England Furniture and they said the order was placed but never authorized. (crawford didn't send in the payment).. This company in my best estimates will be gone in the next year when they can't pay their bills and fold up...

I bought a bedroom suite from them less than two years ago with no problems. I do recommend a furniture store in Hamburg Sans Furniture. Bought from them with no problems and very unique pieces and reasonable also. They sell Flexsteel too.

I ordered a sectional on January 10, 2011. Called after the 8 weeks and they said it should be 10 weeks. Called after 10 weeks and was told "fabric ran out. It will be another 4-6 weeks." I got the shipping fee removed from my order.

Called after six weeks and got the run around for 5 days straight. It has now been 16 weeks!! I was told that the furniture probably will be ready next week.

Got fed up and called Bill Woods at England. Thank you so much for the phone number whoever posted it. Bill told me that Crawford put in orders for furniture but that NO FURNITURE WAS BEING PRODUCED FOR CRAWFORD SINCE DECEMBER! He even pulled up my order (spelling my name correctly so I knew he must have my order) and told me that they had NOT manufactured my furniture.

I asked Bill to email me this information on company letterhead and he did. Here is a quote from it:

"We have located an order submitted from Crawford??s Furniture tagged with your name. The order was submitted on March 10, 2011. As of today (5/5/11) Crawford??s Furniture has not provided the appropriate authorization for us to begin the manufacturing process of your order."

They did not even send my order out until 2 months after I paid them. I charged this order on my credit card (expecting that something like this would happen after all the reviews I read before I bought my furniture). I have contacted my credit card company and they have refunded me my money. I told Crawford that I'm canceling my order and they gave me the 25% excuse. Since I already got refunded my money from my credit card company I am not very worried.

I am very sorry at the loss of a local company. My friends and I have ordered from them before, (a long time ago), and had great experiences. Since England said that nothing has been manufactured since December it almost seems like Crawford is avoiding bankruptcy and trying to stay afloat with everyone's money that they're stealing.

Go to England's web page to find other locations that sell this brand if you still want to buy it, but don't go to Crawford.

We're going into week 15th without our England Furniture. That's what you get when you American made - ripped-off. We continue to email that Bill Woods from England furniture but he doesn't answer us, and Crawford avoids us altogether. SHAME ON YOU. You give American made products a bad name.

Marc the bedroom set you bought they had in stock which explains your experience, and good for you. I think the majority of complaints are relegated to special orders from ENGLAND FURNITURE.. We've been waiting for 13 weeks for our living room furniture, and every time we follow-up with CRAWFORD DIRECT, they defer us to ENGLAND FURNITURE. They're crooks, all of them. There is an old adage "the end justifies the means," you cannot expect a business to thrive if you treat your customers with disregard and disrespect. I think those of you who still wait for your furniture know exactly what we mean.

I recently purchased a bedroom set and a recliner from one of the Crawford Furniture locations. I felt the need to post a review after reading some of your unfortunate situations. My bedroom furniture came up in a week and I waited 8 weeks for my recliner. Not an unreasonable wait for custom ordered furniture. I am happy with every aspect of my purchase. I hope that Crawford continues serving my community, it would be a shame to lose an american made company.

This only allows them to cash your personal check within 2 days. Use a credit card to make your purchase, it is much earsier to dispute and have your money returned. DON'T BE A FOOLED BY CRAWFORD. I wish I would have read the reviews on Crawford before I purchased my furniture. I have been waiting since Dec. 29, 2010 for a leather chair and ottoman from England furniture. Unanwsered phone calls, lies, and delay tactics. I'm in the process of trying to get my money back, and that's harder than trying to get the furniture. I work full time and take care of my 86 year old mother. The last thing I need on my plate is dealing with a shady company. They have my $1300.00, so I can't even buy elsewhere until I get it back. Shame on you Crawford furniture!!

I wish I would have read the reviews on Crawford before I purchased my furniture. I have been waiting since Dec. 29, 2010 for a leather chair and ottoman from England furniture. Unanwsered phone calls, lies, and delay tactics. I'm in the process of trying to get my money back, and that's harder than trying to get the furniture. I work full time and take care of my 86 year old mother. The last thing I need on my plate is dealing with a shady company. They have my $1300.00, so I can't even buy elsewhere until I get it back. Shame on you Crawford furniture!!

We have filed a complaint with the BBB, Channel 4, Channel 2, and met with an Attorney. It's been 14 weeks and we still don't have our England furniture. We have an email from Bill Woods of England furniture and unfortunately, we are suing and with "cause." I hope to close this place down.

I am from the Southern Tier and I will tell you that Crawford Furniture Direct is a subsidiary of Crawford Furniture in Chautauqua. I did a follow-up with England Furniture by phone and spoke to Bill Woods; a representive for England Furniture for the NYS Upstate region. The man was very upfront and was very quick to check their computers for any orders coming from any Crawford Furniture in NYS, and my order was no where to be found. 8 weeks later, and my order had not been placed by Crawford Furniture Direct. Mr. Woods proceeded to share their company policy and stated that Crawford was holding back on my order and holding back on payment approval. He proceeded to explain that their company had a shipping cycle of 21 days from the date of order. What that means is that once Crawford Furniture places your order, it takes 21 days for your order to be completed. The 2nd part of this equation is financial. Mr. Woods explained that once the order was placed, Crawford furniture had to provide financial approval which was done in a number of ways but mainly through a special banking account. Once this was done, you would have your furniture in 21 days.

How does that effect me personally. I paid for a living room set in full nearly eight weeks ago, and England Furniture has no record of my special order. This is why Crawford Furniture would not answer my calls directly, but I am on to their game. I sensed from Mr. Bill Woods that this common practice for Crawford furniture in Upstate NY.

I am personally meeting with Channel 4 tomorrow, and following up with both the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's Office. There is something legally wrong with this picture and I intend to find out what that is. I will expose Crawford Furniture publically and see that this does not happen to you. If this story effects you, I suggest you call England Furniture and get some answers. They will speak to you.

My wife and I bought a few pieces of furniture from Crawford Amherst. We wanted to buy American made products and feed our economy, but how far do you take this? Like the Gentleman said i in the previous review, we got our bedroom furniture within a reasonable periop of time, and quite safisfactorily. However, we were not so lucky with our England furniture set. We've been waiting 13 weeks for the furniture, which is an unreasonable period of time for any purchase and delivery. It's a darn shame that CRAWFORD furniture debunks American made products by LYING and DECEIVING their customers. We had no recourse but to call Channel 4 and call England Furniture directly. For those of you that had a good experience, we're happy for you, but sad for us.

We purchased bedroom furniture from Crawford in Amherst a couple of years ago and were very pleased so in Jan when we were ready to buy new living room furnutre we went to Crawford because we wanted to buy American made furniture. We placed our order and paid for it and was told it would be delivered in 8-10 weeks. It is now going on 4 months and we are still without our furniture. We have called 5 times and each time we were told that they will pull the order and promised to call us within 24 hrs. ...we are still waiting for those call backs. I told the girl I would hold and asked what the manager's name was. she gave me his first name but said she didn't know his last name. Gee don't you find that a bit strange.

Crawford has 5 stores, and say they get 30 people a day in their stores(proably more) thats 150 people a week.That means 7800 customers per year. And there is 80 comments on here not all bad.Thats a very low rate of customers that are not happy. I looked at Raymour's web reviews and it is alot worse. But anyway i was happy with my purchase and have no complaints, but wanted to use some math to show that even though there are a few problems its nothing that every store has. Take a look around the web, as alot of stores have huge complaints about them. I wish everyone good luck with their problems.

Crawford (Lockport)will blame Jamestown Warehouse and have you calling your closest warehouse so they don't have to deal with you. After months of the run around I sent the furniture company an email directly ENGLAND within 3 days i had an email back. Heres what he had to say on March 21st 2011...

I am the upstate New York sales representative for England Furniture. I received a copy of your letter to Philip ****** at England Furniture. I have made sure you chair get put into production this week and it will deliver to the Crawford Warehouse the week of April 4th. I will make of this. I am sorry about the issues you are having with Crawford Furniture. I can assure you that any delay is not due to any problems at our end. I have informed Crawford Furniture that I have put your order into production. I will email you late next week to confirm the date our truck will be delivering to the Crawford Warehouse with your chair. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Not really much I can do but to post this review so that you don't have to experience the hastle and aggravation my family and I have been through. We feel cheated. NEVER AGAIN CRAWFORD.

I don't quite know what to make of this all. I also went to crawford and I was treated very politely. That is not an issue for me, what is an issue is the idea that too many people are still on back order many months later. That is completely unacceptable, and I will not purchase furniture from Crawford solely on that basis.

I would like to say that I had a wonderful experience at the Crawford Furniture Store at the Transit Town Plaza this past week-end. The store manager was very helpful and knowledgable about all the negative questions i had from this website and he answered them quite satisfactory. I ordered a bedroom set on saturday and guess what. I spent $5,000 dollars and it was worth every penny. The product got delivered today and the delivery guys were very professional and curteous. The set up my bedroom within 1 hour and I inspected it and it was in perfect condition. So don't beleive everything you hear or read. This company stands for everything they say. Quality made furniture at it best. Keep up the good work. And i hope you stay strong. I will be back!!!!!

Judging by the number of similar complaints of epic proportions, you should have some legal recourse with Crawford. Whomever is presently being effected by this vendor should by all means request a retraction and it's not that difficult to do. I have already seen two copies of the contract some of you talked about and I will tell you that from a legal stand point, it is debatable, retractable, and easily fought in Court. I would likely suggest a class action suit, but by all means continue your exposure with Channel 4 or other venues. There is strength in numbers. Bind together and you will succeed.

I have been waiting 4.5 months now for my furniture and have been on Crawfords case for the past 3 months. Finally I contacted England yesterday to see if there were actually delays. England told me that my order has not even been processed yet because it has not been released by their credit department (even tho I paid crawford in full). Obviously Crawford is not paying their bills on time and that is causing the delays not all the other BS they have been feeding people. The worst part is that England told me that Crawford can cancel my order at this point, no problem. Crawford refused to cancel or refund my money and I paid in full. If my order does end up going through in the near future, it will be another 6 weeks before I actually have it. That would be SIX MONTHS! I have been in contact with operator 18 with Channel 4 Call4Action and Al Vaughters is looking into this story. They said they won't run the story unless more people write or call in. Apparently nothing else is working, so we need to all gang up on Crawford and contact Channel 4!! I ordered furniture on 11/6/10......still waiting!! That's five months!!! If I hadn't already made my window dressings I would cancel. I hope it comes, I really like what I ordered. To all people looking for a place to buy furniture....DON'T GO TO CRAWFORD!!!!

Got the same story that other customers have gotten - closed for the holidays/fabric was not in stock. After a couple of calls our sale person said any future calls should be directed to the manager. After 6 calls to the manager (who is always nice on the phone) we still don't have furniture. I'm giving the store one more week and will then go to the BBB. I am not certain that I would to wait 10 or 12 weeks for an order, so I am very unlikely to purchase anything from Crawford Furniture. I am not certain that I would to wait 10 or 12 weeks for an order, so I am very unlikely to purchase anything from Crawford Furniture. Because of the reviews, we will not go to Crawford for our couch and loveseat. BUT, the people who are saying to go to Rosa's for the CH.11 sale are misled. We thought that the sale was good too until we looked up the cet on line and found out it cost Rosa's $600 and the GREAT? price they gave to us was $950. When we complained they decreased it to $700. And at that they would still make a profit. And how come the floor is still full of furniture. Are they bringing in other stores stuff also?

Ordered furniture 11/10-it is now 3/29/11.They are telling me the same thing as 2 months ago-the requested material has not come in and it will be another 6-8 weeks!!I dont think so!!!

i do not understand how your products are getting scratched beyond repair i have worked there for over 30 years and we inspect them before they leave the floor and before they leave the shipping yard so if they are scratched they are at the store that your are purchasing from that build it before it is delievered to your house. Another question for you people is did you pick them up your self or did you get them delievered and were they wrapped in the shipping blankets and were the boxes taped or stapled shut

Same problem as everyone else! Ordered 2 chairs & a couch 12/9 got the same run around ..fabric on back order..closed for the holidays..so I contacted manufacturers directly online. England Furniture was fantastic, they personally followed my order from production to delivery & I rec'd chairs within 3 wks. I cancelled my sofa order with Crawford & reordered the exact same couch from Best thru FWS & that arrived within 3 weeks too..this is a Crawford issue not manufacturer

What is wrong with this store. They tell you one thing and deliver another. We've been waiting 10 weeks for our Sofa, Love seat and Matching chair, now mind you it is special order. But how is it that Raymour and Flanigan can deliver special orders in 2 to 3 weeks and this store takes 10 and as much as 16 weeks from I've told, to deliver their furniture. And every time we call Crawford they keep post-poning the date. Quite frankly, we want our money back but that's not an option because they refuse to refund the money. Never again Crawford. This is your last sale from this family.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with me I just recently bought a lovely buffet that was made by crawford furniture, however i purchased it at a consignement store whom ever had it before me took very good care of it, so maybe crawfords has lost their touch, or perhaps financialy something has gone majorly wrong , what ever the case maybe i will only buy their older peices from consignements stores. So thanks again for the warning i wont take that trip.

I bought some furniture from this place about 2 years ago. I waited and waited. I called and called and was given the run around like you all say. I don't question the furniture so much as the integrity of the business. I remember placing a call to speak to the Manager and the sales person asked me, which one. They only have 2 or 3 employees, now, how Managers can you have. This is an example of the lack integrity you give your business. I would never buy another piece of furniture from you again.

Let me clear something up. Crawford only makes the all wood pieces of furniture. When we ordered our uphostered furniture from "England" that is where the delays started. I don't know if Crawford is having finacial difficulties but its been 17 weeks (I was promised 4-6 weeks)and I still don't have my furniture! I have been treated very poorly by Crawford who doesn't return my phone calls and won't give me a straight answer as to the delays. Its one story after another with them. Regardless of what country the product is made in, if the company can't satisfy customers why buy from them? Please don't listen to the 5 star reviews, they sound fake. I mean the people at Crawford told me that they've seen the negative reviews online. Don't you think they are trying to save their reputation? Anyway, buy the all wood pieces but by all means don't buy the "England" or "Best" brands because they are not even made by Crawford! Good luck to all you fake people with the 5 star ratings, you probably won't see your furniture until next year haha. Its just a joke at this point.

My wife and I had planned to visit Crawford Furniture but these reviews leave us with great trepidation. Who needs to start a buying experience with this kind of negativity. I do, however, agree that Rosas has a Chapter 11 sale going on and all their furniture must go. We bought a few things at 1/3 of their original price, but the prices are even lower and we will be returning for our final purchase. Money is a commodity and there is room for negotiation at Rosas.

I asked about these comments on this web site, and he took time to answer the question and not avoid it. I was pleased with his answers so we purchased a bedroom set. Best thing is i am getting it next week, as it was not a special order. I have been everywhere this week, and even other crawford stores, and didn't get this good of treatment anywhere. I can only say don't believe everything you read and go and see for your self. I was pleased and surprised with my locally made purchase.
