I had my birthday here two weeks ago and I had an awesome time. I had a friend who recommended AccessGotham to me, and they really did right by me and by planning my party.

There was a line outside and we instantly went in with zero

I had a birthday party at Union Bar on Park Ave about a month ago... I booked the party through Access Gotham's website after I found them on facebook and let me tell you it was the best decision i've ever made. They must be on great terms with the club owner because we got in unbelievably fast and we got a free bottle of vodka for the table! I've read some reviews about people having problems planning parties at Union Bar but honestly if you book through Access gotham like I did you wont have any problems!

My review is strictly for the Happy Hour. I came here on Tuesday and it was kind of empty. They have great happy hour specials of $4 beer, $5 well drinks and $6 tinis. Their curly fries sure smell good but I didn't get a chance to try it. Drinks here are pretty strong so it is great value!

We booked this place for New Year's through Joonbug at an exorbitant $75 a pop. It was advertised to have a 5-hour "premium open bar," a hot buffet, and "world renowned DJ." The second I stepped inside I wanted to leave. It was wall-to-wall sardine packed, in one small shabby room with no decor. There was no seating because that was all for "reserved parties." Coat check was $5 an item. (They made me pay for 2 items.) There was a 20-minute wait to even get CLOSE to the bar, and when we did we were told it was all beer, wine and "well drinks," no cocktails. I ordered a wine which gave me indigestion, I think it was 2-Buck Chuck. (How do they define "premium" exactly?) The music was TERRIBLE... boring, generic techno. Oh and the buffet? A bunch of fried microwave appetizers, lukewarm, shoved off to a corner behind the drafty door. The crowd was maybe 2/3 women. We barely made it to midnight through sheer determination, getting pushed and shoved every second of the way, then left soon after midnight. (There was no "champagne toast" or "party favors" as advertised on joonbug, btw.) WASTE OF MONEY! Do not go here! MISLEADING ADVERTISING!!!!!!

I will never step foot in this bar because the bouncer decided to try and "confiscate" my over-21 drivers license. He asked me for additional identification and I provided him with credit cards, a student ID, and an insurance card. He claimed that my drivers license was expired and that he was supposed to keep it. After threatening to call the police and my lawyer, he decided to give it back to me. Are you serious??? I am over 21, and it was my drivers license. I will never step foot in this place, and I will never refer them business. I will be telling all of my friends to never go here.

I work till about 10pm and I miss all the normal Happy Hours. But then I heard about this Tuesday night Happy Hour and it was great. There was a bunch of people there like me that work late. The bartender was really cool too. It was just a great way to relax, have a couple of drinks and then head on home.

The atmosphere is very inviting, the bartenders are very friendly and the place has great music. I've gone to many happy hours there, and recently arranged a little party after work and we had excellent seating and were treated very well by the manager and staff. The prices of drink on happy hour are just great, and it's just a stress-free, relaxing and fun environment. Later on it gets busier and louder and I heard at night they have a DJ, which my friends love. If you're looking for a great evening filled with great people, drinks, and a good time this is the place!

I like some things about this bar except for the manager (his name is Shane) and one gorilla bouncer. They gave me a hard time for 2 different nights when I admit I had too much to drink and then thrown out. It was justified. But to no longer be allowed there again even on good behavior, it's ridiculous. It's probably for the best as this bar is usually empty.

always good music and STRONG drinks. there's enough room to dance...especially in the back, but I wouldn't say that this is a place to go and meet people...more a place to go when you have a good time with the crowd you're with.

The bar people who don't like bars go to. It's not a place to go and have a conversation, and the food is too expensive.

Overall, the place has gone downhill in the past few years. After work weekday nights are the best. Keep in mind that all the beers are the same price, whether its bud light or red stripe or blue moon, so you may as well pick the better ones. Also, stay away during the summer. The interns staying at NYU feel that this place is "their" spot, and the doormen will look the other way as long as young college girls keep the older guys happy. It's still a good spot to chill, but I don't think it has the capacity for its weekend crowd. I don't know who the regulars are, but I'm sure they go for the music, which for the most part is whatever is popular at the time.

This place has attentive bartenders, decent music, cramped space , pricey drinks and extremely rude aggressive bouncers. There are way better bars/lounges in Manhattan. Save your time and hard earned money for elsewhere

Passed in front of this bar a few times and finally decided to go in. Atmosphere is a bit of a college bar but also there were young professionals. Towards the front there's a nice sitting area, the back close to the bar packed where you could do a little dancing. Good music and drinks. Bartenders were nice and funny. Had a wonderful time.

It was so packed here one weekend that it was barely possible to move around the club let alone dance. Body to body action was unavoidable, worse for the people who just recently had augmentation surgery if you know what I mean. The music was blaring, but I didn't understand a thing. It was just one of those nights where you knew you could be somewhere else.

enjoy the place for happy hour but made the mistake of getting sucked into a b-day party here on sat night. first off, the doorman puts a giant mark with a sharpie on your wrist for being of age. then you go in and...it's just awful. i left after 10 mins.

want to reiterate that i like this place from 5-8ish. just don't go later. also in the summer, huge college crowd. i felt like my friends and i were the only people to have graduated college...

I went there for a birthday party. This place is so welcoming! The music was great and the barman made everything to have us spent a great night. Good cocktails and great shots.
Perfect for a party with friends.
Besides, it is spacious, drinks are not expensive and the coat check is efficient.

This place is simply awful. Zero character. Bad, loud music that just exists to get people to rub bodies together.

Miss this place! Used to work around the corner and came in with people from the office. I don't work in the area anymore but it's still one of my sure-fire places to bring groups/clients. The service is always good- friendly and upbeat compared to a lot of other upscale lounges, especially in this neighborhood. Prices are pretty standard for the area, so no great value unless you come in early enough for Happy Hour. Go for the easy service, good drinks and chic, open space.

In a word-Sucks. The music is just horrible. The drinks waaaay overpriced and the clientele was a mix of teeny-bopper looking guys & girls. They where grinding to the most annoying music to ever be played in bar. You'd expect a good crowd in Union Square on Halloween Night, but this place was empty at 2am. Go to Old Town Bar around the corner, we did.

This is a very cool place. We haven't been here in awhile but were amazed to see that this place is even better. They have great cocktails and a new fabulous snack menu thats tasty and fun (!!!)
They changed the athmosphere recently and it is now sexier than ever.
I can't wait to have my birthday part there next month :)

If you go with a group, this place will love you. Problem is they'll also milk you for everything you've got. The drinks are fairly small, the space is "tired" (after once being trendy), and even if you know the manager, you still pay for drinks -- that's f'ed up. There are better places in the City...
