This is a highly original place. There are beautiful gardens to enjoy before you venture into the most unusual store you will ever encounter. Be sure to leave yourself enough time to thoroughly explore the gift shop. Unique New York!

The previous reviewer felt like Alice in Wonderland. When I was there, I remarked this place must be owned by the Willy Wonka of pottery. Turns out it's owned as a pet project of Pleasant Rowland, the creator of American Girl Dolls. Either way, this is an incredibly interesting experience & most of it is free.

Mackenzie-Childs produces incredibly unique, handmade pottery, which is also incredibly expensive. Their only other outlets are on 5th Ave. and Palm Beach. But, they create it here, in a free to the public facility that includes their shop, artisan interaction, gardens, 7 day a week free tours of an adjacent, Victorian Home, exotic farm animals and aviary. All on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake where a waterview sunset might just take your breath away.

They also offer a High tea, which was out of my budget, but sounded wonderful. If you ever plan a vacation to the Finger Lakes, check Aurora, NY and this place out.

properties beautiful gardens, see their unique cows and
chickens, shop or have fun looking at creative and fun
