The dogs in that shelter stay way too long. I adopted one and he took so long to train. I enjoyed him after but it was so very frustrating working with him at first. The shelter needs to give their animals so much more human contact to get them ready for their forever homes. If I wasn't so patient and good with dogs, I would have taken him back. They shelter really needs to work on the positive human contact with the dogs. Also socializing them with all different kinds of people. I rate poor because there are so many ways the shelter can do this.

This Humane Society is unfair and difficult in adoption policies. This Humane Society location also does not even keep you updated. I've had a number of family members attempt to adopt and recieved no update on the process.

One family member was told to expect a call and didn't get it.

They do not allow you to get acquainted with the dogs by walking them. If so, then they discriminate. They do not take to the time to check into how the dogs responds to you.

I see potential for a far better shelter. Just don't know when it will happen. In the meantime, I went to another shelter and adopted a great dog. Since they were so superb, I donated $1,000 to the shelter to continue their great work.

Pros: Large variety of dogs

Cons: Unfair adoption policies to stop people from owning pets

I adopted a dog and a cat from this shelter, and I am very happy that I went there. They have a friendly and knowlegable staff and care about the animals. They have a thourough screening process, which is good for the protection of the animals. I couldnt have asked the girls at the counter to be any nicer to me, or my animals. Thanks guys!!
