Tacu Tacu & Lulu's Lounge touts one lofty space done up in a semi-tropical decor with an intriguing menu of Vietnamese and Peruvian unfusioned food whose separate kitchens ensure that these two cuisines shall never get together. So the next time one of you wants roast chicken and seviche and the other has a hankering for cold summer rolls. You should bring a date to share the generously portioned Cubed Steak Saigon or ceviche, and then perform a duet in the downstairs lounge on karaoke nights.

Chill Restaurant in Williamsburgh Brooklyn

by Jamie R. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,892

I like the diverse Menu at Tacu Tacu which is split between Mexican and Thai food. It is always busy and the seating is tight, he restroom is the smallest I've seen. The music is always a little loud and staff is fair, but the proces are resonable with good portions. You will not get a lot of attention at the tables, although at the bar they are more professional. After dinner you can head to the downstairs bar for karaoke Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

PROS: Karaoke after dinner.
CONS: Service at dinner is not so good.

Tacu Tacu

by ws99nyc

Unfortunately, as much as I enjoy the Pad Thai from here and the menu prices are affordable , I can not give it a rating above average.

I went to Tacu Tacu early Saturday night (5:30 pm ) and the bathrooms were filthy - very dirty. It was very surprising to the decor of the place. The service was decent and the food is good but this place is a hit-or-miss. Service and food can vary day-to-day.

This place has pontential to be very good.

Pros: Affordable prices

Cons: Filthy bathrooms

I was there

by love80ds

i remember the the women who cried at tacu. i remember that she was every upset and she was talking to the manager. i also rember her being beyond drunk. im friends with the people who work at tacu and go their all the time. im pretty sure that if she would have made reservations she would not have all her firends sitting all over the lounge. its one cocktail waitress who not only serves you your drinks but also has to run the karaoke machine. alone!!! its not an easy job and im pretty sure that you would be ticked off too if you have drunk people yelling in your face abot a song. some times people need to remember that they are not the only ones thier. if you give her a stack of 80 songs then yeah its gonna take awhile to get to most of them. be realistic pick some of your favorites, one for each person and wait. go back to the bar order another drink. its not the end of the world and karaoke will be here next week. i would get alittle mad too if a coustomer called me a female dog and yelled in my face. its not that serious sweetheart and you need to pick your battles. i go their every thursday friday and saturday. sometimes i sing sometimes i dont get to. but guess what it will be here next wekk when i return. the staff has always been nice to me since the day i walked in. plus.. lets face it they dont do this for free. if you only new how much people get paid in a restaurant maybe cheap people would tip better. your 1 dollar tip for 80 songs is not gonna pay their rent, .
oh yeah and its not the resataurants fault that you lost a present. maybe if you didnt have so much to drink you would have be able to keep track of your belongings. maybe nobody cared about all your yelling and whinning cause they knew you were wasted and couldnt understand what you were saying.

Pros: best karaoke system, good food, wonderful staff

Cons: snooty costomers, who think there the king or queen of something

Prompt seating from bad serivce

by moineau

Tacu-Tacu has a pretty decent atmosphere, and the food is alright for what it is... not the best, but not terrible, but the server that we had last night was terrible! She was so terrible that I thought she was new at first.

We were a party of 6 and were seated promptly, but then it took AGES for her to come around to take our drink orders, and then another eternity for her to come around to get our food orders. We all wanted to get appetizers, but thought that it would be midnight by the time she came around to get our food orders so we skipped out. The restaurant was actually pretty dead, maybe a total of 4 tables altogether, so it wasn't like she was ignoring us because she was busy with other tables. (there was another server on as well as two food runners) When our food finally came out, (before our drinks ever arrived at the table) we were all missing side dishes and items that went with our meals. I asked a runner if we could get them brought to the table, and he looked at us, and shrugged his shoulders and walked away!

The worst part of the whole ordeal was the included 20% gratuity for parties of six or more. I hardly felt like tipping so much for such poor service.

Maybe it was just an off night, but honestly as far as service goes, they were definitely lacking.

Pros: Prompt seating, decent food, pretty good williamsburg atmosphere

Cons: TERRIBLE SERVICE

Not bad but not great

by gijoerice

I had a decent meal at Tacu-Tacu. The service was nice, but I found the food a bit bland. My guests for the evening enjoyed their meals thoroughly, though, so perhaps I just ordered the wrong thing.

Pros: nice place, good location, nice staff

Cons: bland food?

Good Food

by cowsaysmoo

I'm a big fan of fish, and their salmon morado (sp?) is really good. they serve some plantain chips too which are seasoned lightly with salt (yum). ceviche isn't that good, i've had it better at The Spain Restaurant. Haven't ordered from their Asian side of the menu, but the Latin American side is great.

Pros: Food

A nice do-it-all place

by husani_xl

This place is pretty cool to eat in. Nice seating arrangement for you to take in every visual the spot has to offer. I came twice, once with a couple folks, and the other time with a group of seven. Both times, my friends enjoyed themselves. Strangely enough, thye were playing HIP-HOP music (I listened to Kanye West's ENTIRE second album while eating). The food service took a while (more time than I would considre appropriate), but the food is really decent.

Pros: good food, great, fast seating, williamsburg

Cons: serv. time needs work

A fun night out

by anneli2002

Went here for a birthday party and had a blast. From the waterfall entrance to the tiki-kitch walls of the place, Tacu Tacu is transporting. The bar scene here is lively...even at 8.

Pretty stiff drinks, decent food...but the place is the real draw. Who would've thought they could pull off a Peruvian-Vietnamese thing. A botanical stream runs through the center of the dining room, which is mostly lit by candles.

It's good for groups. A dozen of us were seated after a few minutes. We had privacy-but weren't isolated. There were many clusters of twentysomethings and a few families and couples there too, but I'd recommend this spot for groups.

Bring a cane with you if you plan to go downstairs so you can hook the wannabe lounge lizzards off the karaoke floor.

Pros: the people, the place, the Preuvian food

Cons: the Vietnamese food

User review by ariesj412

Our family of four, ranging in age from 17 to 45 went to Maison Saigon Tacu Tacu for a diner. What a nice, warm and cozy restaurant. It has two sections in their menu Peruvian and Vietnamese. Its reflected in decor as well. Two sides are separated by a huge fish tank and a bar. We ordered various appetizers, entrees and deserts. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. Service was fast and attentive. There was no wait to be seated. Prices were right also. We had very enjoyable evening.

Great for it's price!

by smoochi3

Like a previous review, I like the Peruvian side better, but I believe both are exceptionally good (considering the price). And down below at the Lulu Lounge, lot's of fun. Awesome bartenders (JC and AM) and friendly staff.

Pros: Inexpensive, Nice Bar

Not too hot ...

by reinainnyc

If you aren't a Peruvian food connoiseur, you would probably dig this place, but if you are, or are just picky about your food in general, I do not recommend this place.

Cons: crowded, non-traditional

Karaoke in the Basement

by nykevins

Good food up top... great combo of Vietnamese and Peuvian food... Atmosphere is perfect for all kinds of people... Dates, groups, parents, kids... Best of all though is the Karaoke in the besement. There are huge couches for you to lounge in, no stage so you can sing right at your seat...

Stick to the Peruvian Side

by kaybee77

I live in the neighborhood and was a big fan of Tacu-Tacu until a bad delivery experience. I've eaten in the restaurant a few times and definitely prefer the Peruvian side of the menu. Their asian food suffers when compared to the rest of the neighborhood. My roommate and I ordered one night and her meal was wrong. We called and had to argue with the guy for 5 minutes before he agreed to bring over the right food. He brought her a tiny takeout container with 3 shrimp and less than a handful of the noodles that should have come with her meal. It was insulting. Also, the service in the restaurant is SLOOOOWWW but I think that's a Williamsburg-wide problem.

Pros: Great peruvian food, inexpensive

Cons: , sometimes rude
