1 Stars: Food Poisoning after eating their Sauerkraut.,. (by Katja H.)

I (german) went yesterday evening with my boyfriend (americain) to the restaurant loreley in order to convince him about good german food. While eating, I already noticed a strange taste in the Sauerkraut. My boyfriend throw up the whole meal 10 minutes after leaving the restaurant.
Very very bad, I would say.
If you want a good german restaurant recommandation: go to 'zum stammtisch', on avenue c, 7th street.

5 Stars: A Favorite (by Susan N.)

I have been to Loreley 8 or 9 times, and on a few of those occasions I have brought German friends along with me. We all agree that the food and drink = superb!

I recommend the potato soup, gouda cheeseplateand handmade pretzels as appetizers, and every entre I've sampled has consistently been good.

4 Stars: Bavarian food! (by Laura L.)

Good solid Bavarian food in my opinion. My favorite is: Relbekuchen mit apfelmus und preiselbeeren (potato pancakes with apple sauce, lingonberries and smoked salmon). It's a very busy place, especially on weekends, but there is a back garden that you can hang out in, even when it's cold, as they have heat lamps. I like the nice, friendly staff, the great selection of German beers (over 10) and excellent food. Not the cheapest, but better than most I've had in Mahattan, and priced about the same.

I highly recommend this place.
