Hick's has been around for a very long time. They have a very large selection of flowers, plants, shrubs, etc. And its always nice to take the kids to see Otto the ghost. The quality is very good, but their prices are kind of high. If your wallet can take a beating, there probably isn't a better nursery. But, if you are on a budget, you'd better shop around as you will not get much for your money here.

I have gone every year to see otto the ghose, and now I am taking my kids. I love to walk around and look at all the beautiful stuff. It can be expensive but you can find some deals too. They have animals for kids and other things depending on the season. Awesome place.

Great big place to get all your gardening/holiday decor needs. The prices are a little high, but i'm hoping its for a better quality product than say, Home depot.

they have shrubs, bulbs, flowers, everything - and even a repotting desk for your 'growing' friends :)

...but it helps. No matter where you buy your plants or how good they look, it won't help if you don't know what to do with them once you get them home.

On a busy day, it's hard to get personal attention here. But other times, try to talk with the very helpful staff about what the needs of the plants are before you bring them home.

This place is one of the oldest nurseries in the area, it's about 150 years old. It's also one of the largest. They have a great selection of everyday plants and flowers, as well as some more unusual varieties.

Unless you know exactly what you want, plan to spend a little time here - it's a big place, and sometimes it can be hard to find what you are looking for.

Hicks has been around Long Island for as long as I can remember. They have the largest selection of plants that I have ever seen. Some plants I haven't been able to find locally and when I visit Hicks, I can pretty much count on finding them. 2 years ago when I wanted to put in Yucca plants, this was one of the only places I could find them.

The greenhouse is huge and fairly new, meaning thay have a huge selection of indoor plants. Their prices are somewhat steeper than other smaller nurseries, but it's lrgely because of a professional, knowledgeable staff able to help out with any questions I have.

Especially during the fall, Hicks becomes very family friendly with a wide variety of activities, including a "haunted house". There are all sorts of harvest activities available. Many weekends in the spring there are special kids activities and events going on as well.
