First of all I would like to say to the Last person who wrote a review on 6/6/2010 that I completely and 100 % agree with you. I dont usually get so excited about reviewing restaurants but Elia's corner really deserves a review form me tonight....It was bad/ horrible !!! I just came back from the Elias. I was there with my parents and inlaws and the truth is I had been to Elias before but about 2 yrs ago I cant remember why exactly we stopped going there but rest assured we were reminded tonight why we should not have retured. I felt as if the owner's job is to make sure that customers never go in again. Lets start with the wait time for the food to arrive so so long. The salad was the only thing that tasted ok. I made the mistake of ordering 2 grilled octopus , came back burned and bitter tasting. My family insisted i do not complain because then probably out food is going to be messed with. Anyway my husband stuffed his mouth with it more quickly than i could get the attention of the waitress so there goes the bad octapus.but i still told the waitress " listen the octapus tasted bitter and was burned make sure you tell the cooks to watch our fish orders" Well what do you know ...the fish comes back 1 porgy and 2 saint petersburg i knew from the looks of it that it was burned,i tasted it and it was like I was eating charcoil but the aftertaste came first and never left so I returned my fish. Im running out of space so just go elsewhere like kyclides or Stamatis

The service is terrible. The food is bland and tasteless. There is much better food in Astoria!

Pros: nothing

Cons: no prices on the menu

.

Like many of the better Greek restaurants in Astoria, Elias Corner has excellent whole grilled fish. I don't even think they have menus because what they're serving is the day's catch. Fresh and delicious!

This place loks like a blue monster on the outside, you almost don't want to go in, but force yourself. it was a pleasant surprise, like Shulie on newnewyorker com told me its not about the appearances, its all about the food and that it was, very fresh fish and large portions and low prices. BRING CASH no credit cards, the service was slow and also they only had Greek coffee, thats it!

Seafood is super fresh, and every time there's something new. If you don't know which fish to get, sea bass is always a good choice. The appetizers are top notch too, give them a try (the scallops, octopus, soft shell crabs, and sausages are almost heavenly). Well worth the trip to astoria!

Having lived on a boat for a portion of my life, I am very picky about fish. This place lived up to my expectations. Very fresh and delicious. I don't see what everyone is talking about with the high prices. My friend and I split an appetizer and entree and each had a beer, and the entire bill was $25. The grilled octopus was one of the most delicious dishes I've ever had. I recently ordered the same dish at Pastis for about 3 times the price and it wasn't as good.

Pros: Great fresh fish, the freshest around

Cons: no menu, but that can work to YOUR advantage or THEIRS - be smart

This was an awful restaurant. The food was tasteless and waitress seemed as though she was going out of her way to be rude and unhelpful. The food was also overpriced and you dont know the cost of anything until you see the bill - since they dont give you a menu. Although the outside seating is nice, that is the only positive thing I can say about the place. There are numerous other Greek restaurants in Astoria that have reasonable prices, excellent tasty food, outside seating and try to make you feel like a welcomed guest.

Despite the fact that I love seafood and live in Astoria, I will never go here again. The waittress was nasty ("Pay attention because I will not say this again!" then she read us the specials). Although the food was fresh, the preparation was mediocre at best. It was also very overpriced and they did not take credit cards. The nasty waittress recommended a bottle of wine, which we ordered. It reminded me of wine I had once purchased from a $1 bargain bin. Don't waste your money!

I was at Elias Corner in a group of 5 and was impressed by the very friendly service and good food. We ordered fish, meats and vegetables for the table and that made it really cheap! Everybody had a little bit of everything... and the dessert was on the house!
I will definitely come back!

They have no menu, which is a bit unnerving. Waiter was decent, but she did seem to be in a hurry. She went through the list of fish so fast we had to ask her to repeat some items. I suggest knowing what fish you like and asking if they have it. All fish are grilled with olive oil and basic herbs. The size of the fish are impressive. I had a porgy ($16) and my friend ordered a flounder ($18). We ordered a side of broccoli ($5) to share. Also ordered the soft shell crabs ($18) as an appetizer. They were two whole medium-size crabs served in a butter garlic sauce, delicious, had we known the price probably would not have ordered it. In all the food is good but pricey. Service is no frills. Its really just about getting you seated and fed. Very old world style.

I will never set foot in this restaurant again. The waitress and manager were so unbelievably rude that we got up and left before we even ordered. After being told (not asked) by our waitress that we (2 people) had to get up and move from our 4-person table to a small table in the corner with one inch from the next party, we asked to speak to the manager to get "permission" to sit at a normal table. There were, after all, no other people waiting to be sat, and there were other open tables. The manager was even worse, speaking to us like we were children being told what to do. He even had the nerve to put his hand in my face to get me to stop talking. I've never been treated with such disrespect at a restaurant.

With no menus, any naive person will have a hard time. You can look at the fish beforehand, always good. Without menus you don't know the prices, sometimes it can be a surpise. All in all, good food though.

Word to the wise - ask how much that dish is! (The place does not have menus.) Prices vary from a good value to a preposterous $16 for a charred kebab over iceberg lettuce.

It must be the fresh fish that draws me back to this place after numerous unpleasant experiences, like some of the worst service you can imagine. But don't expect fancy flavor or presentation. All of the fish is prepared exactly the same way, i.e. olive oil, some herbs, S&P. The green chooped salad, might be one of the best salads around and the fried calamari is also premium, however, you'd better like it plain because there's no dipping sauce. For what you get the price is about 25% too high.

Came for the first time with a big group for a birthday dinner--Citysearch says its not good for groups but it's wrong! It was great--we sat out on the back and it was like I was in another country. AMAZING food. Can't wait to go back! If you like fish--you need to try this place!

Simply excellent fish choices, all very fresh. Wonderful Greek salads with excellent vegetables -- and all at a fantastic price. I recommend checking this place out on a weekday or Sunday -- on Saturday things get very hectic and the rush won't give you the full experience!

I was looking forward to eating here after all the hype, but it was awful. The waitress was extremely rude. When 10 minutes had passed, and we still hadn't received menus, I went and asked her for one. She said they don't use them. They'd make whatever I wanted! But whatever I asked for, they couldn't do. She finally told me they had swordfish kebabs, PERIOD. Then, she brought bread to the tables around us, but not ours. When I asked her why, she looked at us and said we didn't need to eat bread. I wanted to deck her. Well, we never received our salads either, the food came 40 min. later, and it was dry, cold, charred and sucked. I will NEVER eat there again, or recommend it to anyone unless I can't stand them.
