I tried Luba's for the first time this week after spending months searching for a new stylist. I'm so happy I did!

Arthur did an absolutely fantastic job, giving me beautiful, natural-looking color and definitely one of , if not the best ,haircuts I've ever had!!

He was very professional, really understood what I was looking for and gave me some helpful advice on how to care for my hair, which is a rare thing at most salons!

I'm already looking forward to my next appointment!

I first found Luba's Salon by accident after I was coming out of the Equinox gym on 63rd street and Lexington Avenue. I needed a quick blow dry, and my usual place was booked. I noticed a sign for Luba's Salon and decided to try it, so I walked up to the salon which is located on the second floor. There I was greeted by a very nice stylist named Arthur. After a wonderful head massage and hair wash, I was treated to one of the best blow outs that I have ever had and have been coming weekly ever since 2005.

Luba's Salon is a family business which is what makes this place so special. However, the real secret to Luba's Salon is Arthur Lak. Arthur is an extremely talented stylist who is also very kind and patient. He truly wants to make his clients happy and makes sure that all his clients leave the salon looking and feeling beautiful. Arthur is very good at cutting and styling and really does one of the best blow outs in New York City.

Luba's salon has some wonderful treatments as well. I especially love the Deep Conditioning Moroccan Oil Treatment which includes an incredible head massage.

Over the years I have been to many of New York's top salons but nobody blows my hair like Arthur! I always leave the salon looking and feeling great.

I am so grateful to my friend for recommending Arthur at Luba's Salon for my cut and color! Arthur is extremely talented. I always know I will love my color and that my cut will continue to look good, even as my hair grows.

I moved to the suburbs two years ago, but I still travel into NYC to have Arthur work his magic!

I moved to New York and was in need of a new hairstylist. After researching several salons on Citysearch, I decided to try Arthur at Luba's Salon. I am so glad I did. My cut and color was beautiful. The color was shiny and natural and my hair fell effortlessly into place. I never knew what a great haircut was until Arthur cut my hair. For the past five years, all of my cuts and highlights by Arthur have been perfection.

Three years ago, I moved back to the Midwest. One of the things I miss most about New York is Arthur's cuts and highlights. I have tried some of the finest salons and stylists where I now live and all pale in comparison to Arthur. I have been so frustrated with the stylists in my home state, that I have been traveling to New York to have my hair cut and highlighted at Luba's Salon.

The only negative thing I can say about Luba's is that after having had my hair cut and highlighted there, I am left feeling nothing but great disappointment when visiting other salons.

I have been going to Luba's for over 5 years, specifically to Arthur. His cuts and color are consistently the best I've had in my life. When I first went to him, my wavy/curly hair was limp and unmanageable and he gave it life again. Every time I leave Luba's I feel like a million bucks.

I am from Gibraltar and lived in NY for 2 years. During my stay here I read a couple of beauty magazines and came across Louis Licari Hairdressing salon and much to my disappointment it wasn't as amazing as magazines described. A friend of mine then recommended Luba's Salon so I arranged an appointment. It was the best thing I did, not only because of their professionalism and the way they did my highlights and cut so perfectly but also for the wonderful way in which they treat their customers and make them feel very welcome and relaxed. I've been back in Gibraltar since 2003 and no-one has ever done my hair as amazingly as they did. They should open Luba's salon around the world!!!

Arthur knows blond - dark blond, light blond, anything in between. I have been going to this salon for nearly 10 years and continue to be thrilled with the color, regardless of whether I want to go darker or lighter. Arthur and the team will take time and care to make sure you get the service and the look you want. And a great value for your money!

I lived in NYC for 6 years and for the first few years before I found Arthur, I was going to one salon after another paying a lot of $ for a haircut and always leaving disappointed. I have long, straight, fine hair and not many people know how to cut it in a way to keep its shape, volume, etc. What usually happened is that 99% of the hairstylists tried to convince me that I need to cut my hair short - and that's the only way that my hair would look good. Well, let's just say that after meeting Arthur, I knew that they were lying - they were just saying that because they themselves either didn't know how to do it or didn't want to take the time to listen to what I wanted. What I found in Arthur is a hairstylist who not only listens to what I want, but someone who will also be very honest with me with his expertise if he feels that I'm way off. Time after time, I always left his salon feeling beautiful and always received countless compliments on my hair...which never used to happen!

After 2 years of having become spoiled by Arthur's haircuts, I have recently moved to VA...and after 6 months, I decided that I'll just make quarterly visits to NYC and get my hair cut! I come to NYC often to visit friends anyways...

Arthur is without a doubt one of the best, if not the best, hairstylists in NYC. I'm just sorry that I dont' live there anymore..

Prior to this experience, I remember complaining about my hair to my friend Sarah, who also lived a few blocks away from Luba Salon, about how brassy my blond hair had become from a botched color job earlier. She promised to walk with me in the neighborhood until we found someone who would make it better, thinking I had already tried a good number of great salons -- why not walk around? We stopped in two or three places -- all were afraid to do anything with my hair to fix it (probably knowing it would be worse because they didn't really know how to fix it). She and I came across Arthur, asked him what he would do if he were me, and he gave his honest opinion. I ended up walking out with some great halo highlights and a much better attitude about my looks and Sarah ended up walking out with a haircut (even though her long locks were afraid of being cut too much, he was able to give her exactly the look she wanted -- haircut showing more length than before). All in all, we couldn't ask for a more talented stylist who really understands what you are asking for. I have finally found reasonably priced hairstyles with no complications and great results.

It's a family affair and what a friendly, joyous setting. Newly Renovated Second floor Suite Style Salon that offers the very best in cut, color, styling for the whole family. Love your hair, the Luba way!

Before I found this gem of a Salon, I wandered aimlessly about hairdresser's who would chop off more than I bargained for. Not here. You name the cut, color and style and Luba or her marvelous son Arthur will give you precisely what you wish for with a smile.

Once I found Luba, I didn't need to look anywhere else.
This magnificent duo also repairs botched cuts or colors brilliantly.

i have been going to luba's for 4 years now and i love my hair each and every time i come out of there. the color is always perfect and compliment getting. And the cut is one that looks good that day AND still good 3 months from that day. Its not fussy or overdone - it just looks like you - only better!
Great hours and a very friendly and accomodating staff.

I visited NY on business and needed a haircut while there. I made an appt with Luba but was late for my appt. They were very understanding and Arthur did my hair. He did a great job! Now, I am spoiled by him and can't find another stylist that did my hair like him! I have long hair (mid back) and when he did my hair I never had to do anything with it - once it was dry it looked great with the layers he put in. Now, I am always having to style it or dry it to get the look I want. I am actually contemplating flying back for the weekend to just get my hair cut! Also, the cost of the cut was very affordable.

I've been going to Luba Salon for about 4 years now and would never think of going anywhere else to have my hair done. The first time I went, Luba cut my hair and did a great job. I have rather unruly hair and never had good luck with other stylists. Luba listened to my concerns, suggested some things to me, and we agreed on a new style, which looked great! I have gone back ever since and always have had a great experience. This year Arthur has been taking care of my hair, and he has done a wonderful job too! You cannot go wrong here. Both Luba and Arthur are highly skilled professionals. They really listen to you and do what you want - but also can suggest new looks if you want to experiment. I have never had to "re-do" my hair after leaving (which was the case with the other places I've used before, from NYC to London). Luba and Arthur are both warm and friendly and make the whole experience relaxing and fun. If you're unhappy with your current salon, you must try Luba's! If you like your current salon, go to Luba's anyway - you'll love it! And, for NYC, the prices are really reasonable. Go to this salon!

Since my first visit with Arthur several years ago, I have never even thought of letting anyone else touch my hair. Even when I lived quite far away for a couple years, I still traveled back regularly to have him do my hair. As my natural color has changed, Arthur has been able to adapt to always make it look naturally blonde, which is great. And his cuts have gotten better and better over the years. I've completely stopped telling him what I think I want and simply let him do whatever he thinks is going to look best. And he's never done anything less than amazing!

I booked an appointment with Arthur after reading reviews here, and was not disappointed. Arthue gave me exactly what I wanted and yet added his own touch to my hair!! I have thick, dark, medium long hair, and I was nervous about getting a cut because I am growing my hair. Arthur listened to me and gave me one of the best haircuts I have had!! And that too without chopping off a big chunk like every other (upscale) salon. Arthur's down-to-earth nature and the salon's reasonable prices are icing on cake! I highly highly recommend this place.

This is the second time that I have gone to Luba's Salon. After the first time I knew that I couldn't go anywhere else. Arthur and Stanley are great. They make sure you get what you want and that you are completely satisfied. They make the perfect team and you won't be bored because of the friendly and comfortable atmosphere they create. I have gone to many hairdressers in several countries but this was the first time that I got the haircut I've always wanted. They're very flexible even if you are late, you won't go home disappointed. The search for the perfect hair salon is over, Luba's is the answer!

Great Cut & Color, no question! However, it set me back about $450 and 4 1/2 hours in the chair bored, hungry & very little hospitality (one cold cup of coffee). Arthur does a terrific job. I guess I just had to be a little pushier about being treated like I was spending the money I spent.

definitely go to luba's - it is a real gem! the place is family-owned which makes for a comfortable atmosphere. arthur listens to your preferences, asks questions, and then proceeds to create a masterpiece. there are several salons in my trendy area of manhattan but this place is worth the walk. i am looking forward to next visit which will be soon!!

I was visiting NY and saw the reviews for this salon. They were all that and more. I am very picky when it comes to my long thick hair. I had my appt with Luba but was late due to traffic. They still fit me in. Luba started on me and then when her next appt showed up she asked if I minded if Arthur finished it. He was her son and she had trained him. I did not - he listened very well and did a GREAT job. My only complaint - they are over 3000 miles from where I live and now I am completely spoiled for our local salons!!

Went to Luba's yesterday for my first time and it wont be the last. After trying several stylists in NY and queens, Arthur gave me the exact shade of blonde I wanted. Didnt even have to bring in a picture from one of those hair magazines. He gave me his full attention for 3 hours and he didnt rush. No customer juggling!!He spent atleast 15 mintues going over what I wanted (even after being 35 mintues late)and didnt try to sell me anything more. The color he uses didnt dry out my hair either. Prices were extremely reasonable too not to mention the customer service and coffee. Hey Arthur..hope youll still be able to fit me into your appointment book when youre big and famous :-) Luba's is NY's best kept secret amidst all those other big name NYC hair salons.

I had an appointment to see Arthur on Halloween (looking pretty scary with my hair in a ponytail I might add) and came out just thrilled with the cut he gave me. Without much instruction other than "keep it on the long side, but please do SOMETHING with it because it's driving me nuts!," Arthur went to work and soon thereafter, I had the best cut I've had in years. Thanks Arthur! I now have a new hairstylist--Highly recommended!

If I could write EVERYTHING I wanted to say about my experience at Lubas, you would be here forever reading what Ive wrote instead of picking up the phone and calling to set up an appointment.

I was lucky enough to get a cut from Stanley who is AMAZING! Not only is he SO SO SO sweet and patient, he SO SO SO talented and skilled. He gave me THE BEST cut I have ever gotten, and it is beautiful. He worked on my hair like an artist would work on a masterpiece painting taking time and making sure it was perfectwhich is TOTALLY is! The rest of the staff is SO sweet and pleasant as well, and it was SUCH a nice and fun experience. Thank you so much Stanley and LubasI will be seeing you again for sure

I had my b-day party and I was so busy with preparation thst forgot to make an appointment for my hair. Lubas stylist Arthur agreed to take me without an appointment and worked with me until 11pm until he finished with my hair. I was very appreciated for Lubas flexibility and high professionalism. My hair looked beautiful and I looked great at my party! I highly recommend Lubas to anyone who cares about their look and perfect service!

This was my first haircut experience in NYC; I was always a little intimidated by the salons here (and especially their prices!). Luba's had gotten wonderful reviews on citysearch, so I decided to try them out. I was not disappointed at all!!! The atmosphere is very relaxed. And Arthur, who cut my hair, gave me probably the best haircut I've ever gotten! He was so friendly, and took as much time as necessary to get my hair just right (which ended up being an hour and a half for a cut and blow dry). And it was very reasonably priced! I will definitely go back to Arthur for my next cut!

I love this salon! The first time I went there, I was having color correction done (from a bad salon I had gone to in NJ). Arthur, the stylist I had, was awesome and didn't rush the process even though I couldn't get there until close to closing. I ended up keeping him there for over 2 hours after closing (I have long hair and it needed a lot of correction), but he never once made me feel unwelcome. I have since gone back two more times to have my hair cut and a few highlights put in and every time I leave, I feel so pretty! I request Arthur each time and he is honest with me about my hair (what will look good and what won't) - I trust him 100%. I would definitely recommend him and this place to everyone!!!

Stanley was great!! I've tried for years other treatments and procedures that never seemed to work for the long term. My hair is (was) very curly about mid back length. A friend had recommended Luba's Salon who has her hair cut by Luba herself. She mentioned about there success in Japanese Hair Straightening and that I go for a consultation with Frank or Stanley (brothers) about this. Let me tell you it was a great experience with no pressure and explained in such detail to understand step by step. It's been seven and a half months and still looking great. Thank You So Much..........

Getting my hair done at lubas salon was the best choice I have ever made. Stan knew exactly what I wanted. He gave me a beautiful haircut, added some highlights and did a terrific job at straightning my hair. Now whenever I need my hair done I know where to go.

I first found Luba's in a book at my hotel and I loved the change she made with my hair. This was the first time I walked out of a salon really liking how my hair looked. I simply cannot fix my own hair and Luba patiently put the dryer and brush in my hands and showed me how to do it myself. "Hairstyling 101" she called it. And I passed. I live in Colorado and make it in to NY several times a year for business. First thing I do is make an appointment for a cut. More expensive than Colorado, but boy is it worth it!!! Love ya, Luba!!

Don't think twice about it. Just go! Every haircut I receive from Arthur is like the three-days-before-my-wedding haircut. He takes his time and makes sure that every single hair on my head is perfect and the overall cut looks great. I come in from NJ just to get my haircut here because I cannot the attention to detail that I get from Arthur at this salon anywhere else.

I would highly recommend this salon. I had found it on Citysearch because it was highly recommended, and the reviews were right. Everyone there was very nice. Arthur gave me a great haircut and gave me a great haircut. I came in without and appointment and they still made time for me. I would definetly suggest getting your hair done here, and I will gladly go back. The price was very reasonable for NYC too. The atmosphere is friendly and laid back.

I've been looking for a great place to get a good haircut, and saw ads for Luba's on Citysearch so I decided to go. I couldn't have been happier! Stanley was attentive; he listened to me, asked me questions about lifestyle and what I wanted in a hair style, offered suggestions, and waited paitently until I gave the OK. Professional, talented, and fun, Stanley and his brother Arthur are awesome. I highly recommend Luba's.

What more do you want? Coffee? Ok, that too. Ive been to many NY salons, but this is the only one Ive recommended. The appointment was on time (!), the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. Colorist/stylist Arthur is very sweet, very attentive. He understood what I did and - maybe more important - did not want, offered his opinion (add lowlights), and gave me a look that even a dear friend with a critical eye approves of. So whats lacking? Uptown prices and attitude. The place is modest, but the customer service is superb. You owe yourself a visit to Lubas - I doubt youll be disappointed. Im definitely going back.

I just got my haircut at Luba's and it is the BEST haircut and blowdry I have ever had! I LOVE my hair now. I have been going to the same stylist for about 2 years now and was in a hair rut. I wanted something new and different and chic. Stanley is a genius with hair. He knew exactly what I wanted even though I couldn't articulate it very well. I'm planning on moving to California soon but I will definitely be back to get my haircut periodically. I can't wait to go back for highlights next month. It's definitely worth coming back. I highly recommend trying it out.

I heard about Luba's through a friend who found great reviews on Citysearch. After checking out the reviews (and having a recommendation from my friend), I decided to get a haircut with Stanley. I was defintely not dissapointed. Stanley took time with my hair and didn't rush through the cut. He did exactly what I wanted and I'll definitely be back. Both brothers seem great (Luba wasn't there when I went). For $30 for a guys haircut, Luba's Salon can't be beat!

I just had my hair cut at Luba's and the experience was a real treat. The salon has terrific atmosphere-- clean, friendly, and welcoming. I have short hair that is a bit difficult to cut well, and Arthur, the gentleman who styled my hair, spent a good deal of time talking with me prior to cutting a single hair. What's more, he actually listened to what I liked and didn't like about the cut I had prior to coming to Luba's, and then was able to follow through with a wonderful style! Kudos to this salon.

The staff at Luba's Salon are dedicated to making you feel welcome and comfortable the minute you enter their salon, as well as paying special attention to your hair to ensure you leave looking fabulous. The attention to detail Arthur gave me while both coloring and cutting my hair was impeccable, and never before have I been so pleased with a color/cut. I will definitely be going back again and again for both the great hair care and the warm, family-style atmosphere. I would reccomend them to anyone!

Living in Boston, I treat myself to having my hair done in NYC while in town. I always went to the same person, but not regularly due to average results. However, I having been dissatisfied with my last two visits to my former colorist in Mid-Town, I decided to throw caution to the wind and check out what was on CitySearch and found CitySearch recommendation from a client of Stanly at Luba's. All I can say, is Stanly almost knows what you want before you say it. And not only does he know what will look best (within your expressed wishes) he also delivers superior work. And to top it off, he is a real sweetheart. I will GLADLY make regular trips to NYC from Boston just have him do my color. Stanly, you are my hero!!

For the last 13 years Luba has been doing my high and low lights. My hair has always looked beautiful and natural even as it is growing out. Invariably, when I have had to go to another hair dresser for a quick trim, I'm asked "who does your color, it's gorgeous. Other women have asked what I do to keep my hair so healthy and shiny with coloring and all I say is "I go to Luba." One Saturday about 3 years ago my former hairstylist from the Oscar Blandi salon has refused to take me after I was late 15 minutes for my appointment. As I had a fundraiser to go to, I desperately needed help with my wavy hair. It was about 6 pm or so, and every single salon I would call, would refuse to take me without an apoint. In total desperation I walked up on Lex and saw Luba's salon. They took me w/out the apoint. I was very pleased with the job Stanley did to straighten my hair. Since that day, I have been going to Luba's regularly and it has been always a delightful experience. They are very professional and do an excellent job. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs an excellent service. Thank you, Luba, Stanley and Arthur!

What a find!! I took the advise of a Citysearch recommendation and was not let down. The stylist took great care to make sure that I got what I wanted and in the end it came out fabulous! I finally have the blonde hair that I always TRY to get when I go to the salon, but never seems to come out the way that I want. The were so nice and when I said that I was in a bit of a hurry, I had BOTH brothers blow-drying my hair at once....talk about celebrity treatment...I will definately be back!

If you want the best in color, cut, japanese straightening - or any of the newest, up-to-date methods of hair styling, go to Luba's. There's no one better. She and her two sons, Stanley and Arthur, not only give you the best hair cut, but there are no better stylists to color your hair. I will go to no other salon in New York. I've recommended many of my friends to to to Luba's She's conveniently located, the atmosphere is great, and you're pampered for a few hours - what could be better!!

I moved to NYC in '95 from Dallas, very used to the best service at fine salons. I was a walk-in at a west-side salon where Luba was working. She gave me a great haircut and highlights. I continued going to her when she opened Luba's Salon on Lexington Avenue. I love the family atmosphere, her warmth, and the excellent cut and color she gives. With her sons working at the Salon, it is truly a family affair. She was on a well-deserved vacation recently, and I had one of the boys cut my hair and I have to tell you it is a great cut! I now live in Connecticut, and I drive into the city just to have my cut and highlights done at Luba's. I highly recommend Luba's salon!
