Dr. Hopkins is the most compassionate, gentle, knowledgable vet I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. And believe me, with 12 indoor cats and about 4 colonies of about 25 feral cats, I have seen my share of vets. None of them even comes close to Dr. Hopkins. She has a calming effect on even the most nervous of animals (and caregivers!), and she is a fabulous diagnostician, which is something I find lacking everywhere else. I live in Oceanside and I've used All Creatures (Long Beach), Hilton Animal Hospital (Lynbrook), Sunrise Animal Hospital (Oceanside), and one or two other veterinarians located closer to my home, but I prefer to drive to Freeport for the care my animals receive from Dr. Hopkins. She is a blessing, and simply amazing. So is her staff, especially Heather, one of the vet techs. She shares Dr. Hopkins' compassion. I hope Heather continues on to veterinary school.

What can I say, Dr. Hopkins is the ABSOLUTE Best!!! She cared about our puppy ever since we brought her in as a baby. When we were first looking for a vet, we came across an ad for Central Vet Association (CVA) in Valley Stream (Our puppy was shaking with the CVA vet, it should've been a huge red flag). They gave our dog a free shot for rabies, and the next day our pup had bloody stools, and was vomiting. We took her back to CVA with a stool sample, and they said she needed a $$$$ operation. My parents and I frantically looked for a second opinion and, thanks to God, found Dr. Deborah Hopkins. She gave our pup some medicine and our dog was 100% the next day. She treats you and your pup like family. The "free" service at CVA wasn't free in terms of mental anxiety and what could've been an uneccesarry surgery. Be careful with those big companies that advertise like CVA and others, bc they look for desperate new faces. I love Dr. Hopkins and soo does my nine month old baby!!!! She is the best vet ever and is a Godsend for my puppy. Her intelligence and knowledgeability combined with her friendliness and benevolence is the perfect combination. Would recommend to Anyone and Everyone with a pet. ( ten stars**********)

Recommended by family even though live far from this place. Well, it was the best place to take my cat when he was sick. Received tender loving care and good advise. Was very glad I decided to drive the distance knowing my cat was getting the best treatment at the time.

We have been using several different vets over the course of 8 years to help care for our rare breed large dogs. The care and attention was just OK for the most part. The one vet our dogs felt most comfortable with moved to the east end of Suffolk County. When I saw that Meadowbrook Animal Hospital had undergone a whole new face lift I was curious to who had taken over. After talking to her staff, I decided to give Dr Hopkins a try. What can we say.We have found the most caring, compassionate and dedicated vet we could hope for. She truly cares for the welfare of your pet, who she regards as a family member. She spends whatever time is needed to answer your questions and to make you feel mentally comfortable. Dr Hopkins is willing to "work outside the box" keeping in mind that traditional answers are not always the best solutions. When we had to finally put down Maxx because of bone cancer, she couldn't do enough for us or Maxx. We all cried together. So if you want the best care from a caring and knowledgeable vet, please run, do not walk, to the Meadowbrook Animal Hospital. So far I have referred 4 new clients and they are in love with her already.J & G

We were with her for years prior to her taking over Meadowbrook Animal Hospital. Because Dr. Hopkins was familiar with our old dog, we continued to take her even after Dr Hopkins took over Meadowbrook.

To sum her up in 1 word...PRIMO.

I have gone to quite a few veterinarians over the years and been disappointed by every one. One of them gave my cat cortisone when he really needed insulin. Another spayed my cat and left her with a droopy belly. I am so glad that I found the Meadowbrook Animal Hospital. I have been going there since Dr. Jeffrey Siegel owned it. I was a bit scared to go back when I found out that Dr. Hopkins bought the practice, but my fears were unfounded. In December 2005 my cat Bandit looked like he had a bad toothache so I took him in and found out that he had inoperable tumors pressing on his esophagus. He was drooling, his coat looked horrible, he kept coughing and he just looked like he was going to die. She gave him Prednisone and it's like nothing is wrong with him. This is April 2006 and my cat is still going strong, although the tumors will eventually kill him. I just can't say enough about how wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and nice Dr. Hopkins and her staff are. They even fax in Bandit's prescriptions to my pharmacy for me because I live so far from the office. (They are in Freeport, I am in Valley Stream) I also get to see Dr. Hopkins each time I visit, as long as I request her, not like some other places who give you a different doctor every time. She actually knows my cat's history. They accept major credit cards. There is also a small parking lot next to the building and metered parking on the street. I think that it is well worth the ride to go to Meadowbrook Animal Hospital.

PROS: Very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
CONS: I can't think of any.
